  • Hi, I came across this video looking for a potential new stylist to walk me through a new adventure for me. Im interested in doing my first weave but I have no clue on where to start. How much is a full head and what is a good hair to try for a wet and wavy look?

  • Hi Clarisa. I'm one of the stylist in this video. You did a great job. You should come back & do a follow-up on us. HiLightz Hair Salon is still in business & doing very well!

  • The guy is HOTT !!

  • that guy sexi

  • Looking for the best black salons? go to salon voice.com and ask.

    regards from germany

  • wat is panneled highlights? and wat are low lights

  • Good luck with your salon. But please, please, please respect your clientele. People say they dont want to work for anyone else so they open their own hair salon & treat their customers like crap. Not opening up on time, not adhering to appointments, closing whenever they feel like it. I just want to say that when you work for yourself your customers become your boss. You give up one boss for dozens of bosses. There's no reason why anyone should have to spend all day in a salon for a touch-up!

  • good video :)

  • Thanks for this video. It made me so proud to be a stylist and servant.

  • If you're a stylist or an owner please respect your customers. Please open up on time & adhere to appts. Please dont make customers have to wait for you to get to the salon, to finish talking on the phone to your friend, to finish eating your rib basket, etc. The worst part of black salons is this general lack of concern. Please do not smoke while you are doing hair or talk on the phone. If you are running a business treat it like a business & not like you're doing hair out of your kitchen. Thx!

  • @WhereYaBoss

lol seriously ppl do that? haha i never been to a salon that did that and im black

  • @CaligirlSofia

     It happens.

  • @WhereYaBoss and by the same token, when you make an appt. SHOW UP, on time and not with your three children and a chicken bucket. Stop talking loud on the cell phone under the dryer and don't make an appt. for a relaxer & rinse and then decide to do it at home and ask me just to flat iron it. Just like you all have complaints about black salons, so do we...the only way to move forward is to each take responsibility and do better:):)

  • @wendyrm5 I hear you, but the reason why people do that is because they see the owners and the workers doing it. I go to salons now where the staff acts professionally, has a professional appearance and I have yet to see a client come in with a 12-piece and rugrats. If you are providing a great service you can set the rules. But if you aren't then you have to take the clientele you can get. If you are attracting clients carrying KFC buckets what does that say about your establishment?

  • @WhereYaBoss im loving what your saying, Im a stylist and before i was qualified i had no respect, clients wouldntt pay me, they would be hours late, bring boyfriends and they friends over etc i decided enough was enough and i set the standard high, now my clients actually arrive early and they all say thankyou for having them. Your 100% true, being a stylist is hard!

  • @freedombraids Continue to keep your standards high. Use the best equipment you can afford, Keep your site modern and clean, let them know the rules of your salon or business in a professional way. When you do this you attract clientele that's use to being treated with class and they will in turn treat you with class. If they don't, you can respectfully decline their business. There are classy salons that have a certain amount of loyal customers and you have to hope for an apppointmnt with them!

  • I love your salon. You are a very positive person.

  • THIS IS SO TRUE!!! You hit it right on the head.....because every black woman has to figure out what works for THEIR OWN hair, cuz its all not the same.

  • If I ever make it to N.Y. I would love to come to your salon.

  • I seriously think more black women should become stylists so they can style black hair. Every women deserves to be beautiful :) And yea, I can imagine how black hair can be hard to manage. Oh yeah, about the straightening thing: they AREN'T trying to be white. Why not say Asian? Nuh-uh. It's just an option for them. They WANT style. They want something different than the usual. That's it.

  • well your right, every black woman is born with diff kind of hair, but it does have to do with laziness too. If they don't take care of their, it is going to get brittle and weak.

  • that's only for black women that don't take care of their hair. My hair is definitely not course or frizzy or nappy, cause i do condition it. That doesn't go for every black person, just the lazy ones that don't take crae of their hair.

  • WHy don't you create one? I'd love to suppport that

  • Clarisa-

I will do some things which may be controversial,

(my trademark) but because of your kind words I'm going to share a recent find: singlemamahood.(com)

She is very nice! Kelly Williams

  • @gracebelieverz lol wtf dont be lame. why is it only a black womens responsibility? gtfo with that

  • @UzumakiNaKun You must be a mind reader, I was saying the same thing.

  • gracebelieverz ur racist. So what! Our hair is curly so we condition it to make it straighter! WTF! Black is beauty!

  • I agree. Yeah and what about white/asian/other people wearing dreads, braids and afro's?

  • We go to extreme to meet your beauty needs. _extremebeautysupply.com_

  • black women be proud of yourselves wear your hair natural.

  • why does everything on youtube turn into a racial disscussion?

  • I like your video. It's very motivational for a young person interested in the beauty business.

  • white slavemasters conditioned Black women to demotivate their sons.

Black women have a neglectful attitude toward their male children that is so veery apparent to women of ALL races! Little boys hurt, cry, and have self-esteem issues too.

Black boys are failing nationwide (usa) even as pre-schoolers due to the conditioning of Black wom minds.

She needs to take the focus off conditioning her hair, and take a look at the CONDITIONING OF BLACK WOMENS MIND'S THROUGHOUT AMERICAN HISTORY

  • Very nice video and documentary of your salon. The care, sincerity and beautiful spirit shown in this video is refreshing. You, your clients and your staff are very blessed to have each other. The family feeling is such a gift. Keep your heads to the sky and ignore the negativity. You are doing a good work, may God bless you all the more.

  • much success for the future!!

  • Black women suffer from s psychology of rejection. She secretly believes white women r so much more beautiful. There r B women seeking non-Black sperm donors for a light skinned baby. It is due to these issues that B men r driven to other races of women, Black women r sick and have a rejected look about them, nothing to do with hair at ALL! blacktown(.)net

  • THE WHITE MAN can rape a whole race of women for 400

years and then make her straighten her hair to be like his, and then give her daughters white dolls

like him and make her secretly desire HIM ABOVE HER OWN BLACK MEN!!!!! blacktown(.)net

  • as an aspiring stylist i appreciate this film. it encourages me to continue with this dream. i take my state board exam june 14th send all prayers my way.. and continue to be as professional as you seem on camera.

  • That was a great piece of filming work. thank you so much

  • wow if I am ever in the area I'm coming to you.

  • I'm an independent media producer and your video is impressive. Keep your eye on your dream. If it is to be it is up to thee.

  • Im a hairstylist as well and I totally enjoyed this video and its message. Very Professional! Much success to you and your staff!!

  • i am a hairstylist too, and i was feeling the video until i saw the woman with the client talking on the cell phone. how unprofessional! why would you even put that online? why isn't your receptionist taking your calls? deplorable...

  • The point of this video was not to showcase beauty salon practices but to celebrate the beauty of black women's hair on the whole and the role that a beautician plays in building self esteem in their clients.

  • Im a hair stylist also and all of what you said is so true. Keep up the good work and much success to you all in the future

  • thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed it! Good luck to you too!

  • This was so well done. Much applause.

  • This is fun to watch! It's well done, professional and informative.
