I came here because of the episode of Futurama where they first go to Mars. Billy West who voices Fry learnt this stuff to do some voices in the episode. I think Futurama used it before the Big Bang Theory.

I didn't know if this was a real art or if it was just created for the show. I googled Tuvan throat singers and to my surprise youtube had many videos of this. Now I'm a big fan and I'm trying to learn some of it's "famous" singers, history and styles ( 7?). I'm just amazed that the human voice can make such interesting sounds. I've never heard anything like it.
