Hey Scott, I'd vote for for new stuff to be released on Wed. The reason I say this is that it gives your fellow film makers a chance to follow your instructions and go get the parts they need before the weekend.
Another video editing software I use that's pretty inexpensive is Corel Video Studio Pro X4. Can be found for $39. And the Ultimate edition is $59. They offer a 30-free trial as well!
