Esta obra de Bach es Plenamente Maravillosa, sobre todo en el último fragmento de esta primera parte...., llena del amor de Dios que inspiro tanto a Bach para componer sus obras religiosas. Gracias por publicar este motete en esta excelsa versión
That was truly spectacular! Singing this motet myself made me realize that there is really no where to breathe in this movement, so the fact that they were able to stagger breathe and sing with a great sense of line is incredible!
@dixon18ify1 Oh my gosh, I know EXACTLY what you mean, having also sung this! I did the soprano solo for the "aria and chorale" and loved it. The third movement is even more crazy, but so so SO gorgeous! One of these days I hope to sing it again... I love the smoothness of the lines in this rendition.
@MusicPredominates I suppose it is. Bad habits. Well, I'm not a saint yet, though I am trying my best to get there; so I'm sure God will pardon me an occasional slip of the tongue.
@3NUNS I believe enough not to be presumptuous. I believe that Christ died for us, but I also know that if I say "okay, I believe, that's enough" and ignore Him otherwise, I am not liable to make it to heaven. So I keep fighting the good fight. Believing is only part of it.
One of my favorite vocal Bach pieces. The overall effect is a bit rarefied in this performance because of the minimal forces, but the vocal lines are clearer and more beautifully sung than any other I can think of. Thanks for posting.
Roughly, this is the psalm that reads: "Sing unto the Lord a new song." It is pretty tricky to get the German clear in such a busy musical texture, even with one person to a part.
i actually like the effect of having a smaller ensemble. the vocal lines are clearer and it sounds less busy than other versions. it also makes it sound more like a motet
Sinceramente, como me fascina esta pieza musical....

Also ich mag diese dünne Interpretation einfach nicht... für mich muss es ein grösserer Chor sein, meinetwegen sogar grösser als zu Bachs Zeiten!!!

@AgnesRegina "Oh my gosh" is a form of cryptic blasphemy. You are so worldly !

If only the German was more intelligible.

Beautiful recording.
These a capella performances are really a joy to listen to.

This is my favorite motet, I prefer the Harnancourt recording best. Soprano is flat alot here. to hear a choir do it I think gives more power.

@sandradeeism it's actually written for an octet which is why it always sounds better :)

@sandradeeism : The smaller the ensemble the more authentic the performance one would say.
