Croyle's biggest mistake was being drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs with that horrible OLine! Brodie has an amazing arm and could have been a great NFL QB and still can. The Chiefs are idiots if they don't start him in 2010. Everytime he touches the ball I feel like it could be a great play or touch down. That's the same feeling I get when Jamaal Charles gets the ball. People say Brodie is injury prone, well give him better protection and a running game and you will see what he can do!

I'm afraid though that with Cassel what you see is what you get. At 27-28 QBs are usually at or near their peak. You see average QBs turn into Pro Bowl QBs mostly with younger guys, but hey, it's possible.

Favre isn't really changing the rules, he's just a strange exception. How many guys do you see in their 40s and upper 30s starting? Other than Warner Green and Brunell over the last few years, age still seems to matter. They break down eventually, Favre's will too, just a matter of if he retires first.

Skills are important too. Just because an 80 year old granny has amazing leadership doesn't mean she can lead a football team. Cassel lacks raw talent but he could still be a good QB with time.

Guys like Testaverde and Favre will come around once in a while, but as in most sports (even non-contact ones), athletes usually reach their peak in their late 20s (and this is just a stat, don't freak on me because there are exceptions)
