Yup, if there is a camera backstage, it needs yo be off. Usually the person who gets guest off of the vehicle tells them to stop right away. It's because they want to protect propriotary secrets and in general keep the back stage areas hidden.

Nope! I've been on the Keys to the Kingdom tour where they show you the parade float area, and it's not close enough to the backstage of Splash where they'd have to close it :)

YOU ARE SO LUCKY! When it broke down for us when we were there- stuck for 3 hours- we were not able to leave. They didn't even give us the option to leave or stay. They merely made us sit there and waste the entire day. A cast member even came out and talked- saying what happened- but when someone asked to be escorted out they refused to do so. Kinda rude.

Well, it's Disney's policy. I worked there for 2 years and they were VERY strict about having camera's out...even phones with camera's built into them out. So, the Cast Member was just doing her job so she wouldn't get fired.

@markbundles2 if a ride breaks down, how are the riders suppost to know to cease the use of their cameras while backstage? Were you verbally lechtured during orientation that while backstage, if you see any visitor taking pictures or videos backstage, that you are to stop them immediately, regardless of the purpose, or whom they are photographing? Can you explain?

i actually got lucky enough to have jurrassic park break down right before the drop, so i was sitting under the t rex for like 5 minutes.....they gave us a family fast pass for 5..that was about it

My goal for the next time we go 2 Disney is to have the ride break down so we have to walk. I've always wanted to go backstage, but I've never been lucky enough... I might have gotten lucky on Splash but I hate that ride. I don't like rides with a free fall drop. But since I'm not a baby I go on it once every trip. I think I can handle the drop now so next time.....
