The other guitar player who was in sepultura at the time only wrote the leads!!! Max dosen't play lead!!! He only uses the top 3 strings!!! As far as the drums, lead guitars, and bass, he had some help from the other members, but the main riffs and the lyrics came from max!!! That is why soul fly sounds so much like the older sepultura albums!!!

@j19318 That's the point. A lot of people think that Max was the only, or the main force of Sepultura. Of course, he was a huge part of their style and he was the band's frontman. But it's unfair to write off the rest of the band, especially Andreas. He did far more than the leads, especially nowadays all can see that he's one of the most underrated guitarists. Look at the difference he did on Schizophrenia. Max is a great vocalist and songwriter, but he alone is not what Sepultura is.

I must say that I am a big fan of all of the playing on roots and everything prior to that!!! The first live show I ever seen was the roots tour!!! It was spiritual to say the least!!! I don't doubt Andreas did more than leads I guess that is just the part of his playing that stood out the most to me!!! Max 's brother is a beast on the drums too!!!

@j19318 True, Igor is a great drummer. But so is Jean, the one that came after him. I appreciate Max and Igor's work, particularly with Cavalera Conspiracy (Soulfly is not that good to me), but I just prefer Sepultura, even without Max. I'd recommend trying A-Lex - it's a great album.
