@mizzfoxy9 She was on medical leave starting early November due to being sick/worn down but went back to work early December - her first air date was December 23rd.
@misschristine3451 Thank you for the Info.was wondering,if she retired. The Show is not the same without Jeanne.I know, she,s getting up in Age,but hopefully, will still be around for a long time..YR.is the only Daytime Show I watch....You,re a Dear, thanks again
Yeah, this is was her 10th or 11th TOTAL nomination, Primetime and Daytime Emmys included, and she hadn't won yet!! She could very well have been considered the Susan Lucci of CBS!!! Who cares if this wasn't her best year, storyline wise?? I consider this to be an Emmy that honors her ENTIRE 35+ year history on Y&R, and it was very much deserved!! Better late than never...........
10-25-2009. Happy Birthday, Jeanne (81). You are now the same age as my mother. I liked you in many shows, like L.A. Law, Emergency!, Kolchak: The Night Stalker, and McCloud, plus all your other appearances, like Bonanza. Many happy returns.
haha! the best. it's about frigin time! wow. love jeanne, still just as amazingly talented and i must say drop dead gorgeous as day 1!!! keep it coming :)
and unlike Lucci, she actually DESERVES it.>>> If Lucci was undeserving, then explain the huge applause she got after she won, which went on for a couple of minutes. That did not happen here with Jeanne (but both were deserving. But I am not like you and going to praise one and put in a snide bash against the other).
@jessicaxo28 agree...whereas Lucci's speech combined class, sophistication and humor, Cooper's was just wickedly hilarious. I'd love to have a cup of coffee with her just to laugh my socks off. Great speeches by two gifted daytime actresses ;)
Yes! very well said! I like the way you think! I wish daytime emmy's was as cheerful and celebrated as when Lucci won. People were nuts over daytime... now, not so much which is a dissapointment.
@jessicaxo28 It's likely due to the fact that the heads of the networks forgot how to make a good Emmy broadcast. I haven't enjoyed an Emmy telecast since...perhaps 2006?
Its quite sad isn't it? The 2010 Daytime Emmys paid alot of tribute to DClark and only about a 10min segment to Anges Nixon who had a huge part in creating daytime soaps. The writers are getting less creative. For example on AMC: Why can't Erica Kane have a better story line ? :(
@jessicaxo28 I spoke about this with friends and they had a better idea. Why not give Dick Clark his own one or two hour tribute on let's say a Friday evening? Given his decades long legacy in entertainment, it's entirely impossible to combine all his work into a tribute for an awards show. It's not as if it's a foreign concept for a network to air a special tribute in lieu of regular programming.
mhm, i see what you mean. Yes, they should pay a two hour tribute to Dick Clark since he was such a influential man in the television arts industry. But i do wish for the 2010 daytime emmys to pay a little bit more tribute to Agnes Nixon
@jessicaxo28 and add more significant time to the ATWT tribute. Dick Clark's not been involved in a daytime show since what-the 1980s? Producing the Emmys doesn't count...he just put together the show honoring daytime television instead of star in daytime programming ;)
I love Jeanne Cooper so much. How lucky we are that at the age of 80 Jeanne Cooper wants to work still and Y&R is giving her front burner story. Love it!
I think I was as surprrised as her........so glad she got one too......does anyone have a clip of Tyra acting ghetto? I was so disappointed in her; she looked stunning and then she acted ghetto...I wonder if Naomi Campbell saw her losing her finesse
Actually, I think her(Tyra) speech was inspiring. Not ghetto at all!!! This lady had a fun speech as well, but nobody said anything about her being an old bitter lady because it was all jokes!!!
"adavis"...the difference is that Miss Cooper, finally won in her sr. yrs..she plays a campy role, kept her speech short, not mushy..Tyra hasn't recoverred from the press lashing and Naomi's interview...sorry u misunderstood..She's lucky to be a former model winning an emmy
Tyra didn't have to recover from anything, she's fine. and I don't remember anything bad that was said about the Naomi interview either. All in all, Jeanne did deserve the award and so did Tyra for that matter. But don't take this as an argument because I'm just responding to you saying that Tyra was behaving in a ghetto manner and I didn't think that she did. Mad respect though.
Jeannie Cooper is the best actress I have ever seen on t.v.

@cajayson8301
i totally totally agree with you!
Susan Lucci had a huge and long standing ovation...
when JCooper won.. some people were still standing
the crowd was insane when SLucci won
But nevertheless, both women deserved the emmy equally !
