I have only played the trilogy version so i cant compare them 100% ): Its the three best metroid games of all time( Metroid Prime 1, Metroid Prime 2:Echoes and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption) at the price of one. Its pretty much like the Gamecube and the Wii version of Zelda Twilight Princess: its the same game.

So like i said its number 1.

Today I was playing the first Metroid Prime (so FUCKING good), and in one of the inicial Pirate Datas is mencioned That "Zebes has fallen. All ground performers r presumed dead, either killed by the hunter clad in metal or the subsequent destruction on the underground. Our research frigates (blá), (blá) and (blá, lazy) were in orbit at zero hour and managed to retreat".

What do you think about'hat? It reminds me of the events of Zero mission. Looks intrigate isn't it?

@Goukeban I was just playing today and saw that. That would actually mean either Metroid or Metroid Zero Mission. At first I thought Metroid 2 but it had no Space Pirates even though Samus was on Zebes. So yeah, technically you're correct.

The original Metroid is tedious.

If you die or start playing the game,

you restart from your last checkpoint with a small amount of health

and you have to spend 1-2 hours killing monsters for energy

if you want to get full health again.

Meanwhile I wait and blast monsters from a spawning hole for health,

I keep wondering why there wasn't any sort of quick way to fully replenish you.

Hell, the original Zelda had fairy fountains which did just that

so there isn't an excuse.

@Rezorok7 That is the challenge. It was on the NES, and basically you're comparing the Zelda series to Metroid. They have NOTHING in common that includes difficulty. You're supposed to explore EVERY nook and cranny for the Metroid series, with nobody to talk to, because every other life organism is a monster of some sort. In Zelda, you have a WHOLE WORLD OF PEOPLE. It's MUCH easier than Metroid.

Refilling your entire health from scratch in the original Metroid

through a painfully long and boring process every time you die

just isn't fun and you know it.

Meanwhile in the original Zelda (which came before Metroid),

recharge stations aka fairy fountains instantly restored you to 100%

which made the game challenging, but fair. Not unfair like in Metroid.

And thankfully, recharge stations were later added in Super Metroid.

Zelda just says," Here, this is for all your troubles." If that was fair, then what is Metroid like? Metroid tells you to suck it up and learn to play the game.

Very nice list and video. Metroid is by far my favorite videogame series too...altough I think the weak(ish) story in Metroid Prime was a dissapointment. So yes, I really think Super Metroid is not only the number one Metroid game of all time, but the number one sidescroller game of all time.
