Hey guys just thought i should share this. if your in the new york area theres a big show planned on december 9th, Low Ki vs Amazing Red, The Maximo Bros of The SAT vs The Set, Fatal Four Way Main Event: "The New Horror" Sami Callihan vs "The Precious One" Gilbert vs "The Notorious 187" Homicide vs "The Franchise" Shane Douglas. it's gonna be nuts check it out:
"We know where he's been... We know there's an earlier allegience between Dean Malenko and Shane Douglas!" For fuck's sake, is it THAT hard to say "ECW?"
@TheSteffen1223 Thing is Douglas would never go back, and considering what a prick Vince McMahon is along with his so called "creative team" I don't blame Shane for not going either.
@superrobz It's easy to say "I'd never go back to WWF" when the WWF have no interest in taking back you in the first place. That's like getting dumped by your girlfriend and then saying you'd never take her back.
You are saying some petty excuses at the end of the day its business and you obviously dnt know anything about businesses and Paul Heyman is not a good entrepreneur.
@inc2000glw no...WCW sold out to WWE and instead of re-doing his contract and working for McMahon (who wouldve probably dumped him anyway ) he sat out and collected the "guaranteed" contract he had
@GrowlanserDragoon Sit at home with your family and get paid or travel the road taking bumps to earn the same money? Yeah, I would sit at home as well
The Malenko family is one of the most famous wrestling families with the deepest roots in wrestling. Dean Malenko taught a lot of wrestlers. One of my favorite wrestlers Dean Malenko taught is Jerry Lynn.
@Stefan990 But u said u like Jerry Lynn and i personally think his shit, but maybe i am being a bit bais because i never really watched ecw and when he came to wwf they put him in the light heavyweight column
I mentioned Jerry Lynn because Jerry Lynn was taught by one of the members of The Revolution (Dean Malenko).
Jerry Lynn is a great wrestler. He had a great rivalry with Rob Van Dam in E.C.W. and wrestled better than RVD on many occasions. WWE didn't use him at all because WWE doesn't push good wrestlers. Jerry Lynn had incredible matches in E.C.W. E.C.W. had GREAT shows. ECW had lots of classic matches.
@Stefan990 yeah i'm denying that, thats why i said maybe i am being a bit bais but i do disagree you on wwe not pushing good wrestlers because The Rock and Kurt Angle were pushed but yeah i do hear you I have heard Paul Heyman compliment highly before
The reason Kurt Angle was pushed was because he was already famous from winning the gold medals at the olympics. The reason The Rock was pushed was because his father was in W.W.E. and got him into the business and his grandfather was also in the W.W.E. The W.W.E.'s main focus is gimmicks.
E.C.W. put on GREAT shows. The E.C.W. crowds were the most energetic not just in wrestling but in entertainment period.
@Stefan990 You're wrong just because wrestlers have familys that was in the wrestling industry doesn't automatically mean they're pushed. Dean Malenko and Shawn Staisiak family were famous wrestlers in WWE and they didnt get pushed epsecially shawn stasiak infact they made the guy dumb a wrestler who trips in matches and loses plus The Rock was pushed because he has natural ability point blank it was maily hin charisma something that ECW never had they just shout in their interviews
@Stefan990 Thats what Paul Heyman thinks aswell but you need to ask yourself one question if ECW was better than the WWE why did ECW go bankrupted and had attendances like 1,400 but the WWE continued and has attendances around 16,00?
@Stefan990 Noo blame WCW most of them went there then thry came to WWE they didn't have to go no one forced them to sign the contacts but because they knew ECW aint getting anywhere they left the same goes for the fans they didn't leave but obviously theres no loyality. Paul Heyman even forgot to renew Chris Benoit's contract what an idiot he even wanted to stay. ECW should just blame themselves for being unsuccessful no one else
W.W.E. and W.C.W. were cutting big checks and taking the talent from E.C.W.. Anytime you have a monopoly it's gonna be hard for new businesses to enter the market.
@Stefan990 At least Vince gave them money for the talent from ECW crossing over to WWF. WCW sent out rats to get them to cross over without any kind of monetary compensation.
Yeah the paychecks were big. That's why a lot of the wrestlers left E.C.W. After one wrestler would leave and get a big paycheck the other wrestlers would look at him and say "I want to go and make big money also."
@Stefan990 ECW was just hardcore wrestling using weapons all the time that aint real wrestling anymore can do that, e.g new jack was just flying off high places severly hurting himself for the fans, the fans were only energic cause that stuff is silly and suicidal
E.C.W. wasn't just hardcore wrestling. E.C.W. had technical wrestling, high flying, luche libre, hardcore and great mic skills. E.C.W. put on great shows. Go watch the RVD vs Jerry Lynn rivalry or the Benoit, Shane Douglas etc matches (great technical wrestling).
E.C.W. is GREAT!!!! E.C.W. changed wrestling forever. Wrestling will never be the same. Long live E.C.W!
Talk about a non-reaction! Could it be that they just didn't give a shit about Shane Douglas by this point? Probably. Following his lack of success from this WCW run, Douglas would later follow Benoit, Malenko, Saturn and Guerrero out of the promotion. However, when WWF had no interest, he turned up in XPW, bashing the hell out of head of WCW management, Bill Busch and generally pointing fingers.
@DevoJetBoy I think it was because at that point, fans saw Shane is a bitter guy. He blames Shawn Michaels, Vince McMahon and Ric Flair for sabotaging his career to the point where people got sick of listening to him. He's burned his bridges with both WWF and WCW because of his arrogant behavior.
@campKILLer Well, he didn't burn his bridges with WCW, but knowing Douglas, he probably rubbed a lot of people the wrong way with his attitude. He rubbed a lot of people the wrong way (mainly the Kliq..which earned their wrath.) in WWF the same way, he probably didn't burn his bridge, but didn't really win many friends with his attitude.
@EricV1 he never had a point with Shawn Michaels. but Vince and Flair he did. Vince McMahon had and still has made a habit out of burying the top guys from other promotions to prove his guys are better, and Flair, everyone knows that he buried guys as payback. like it or not, Shane Douglas during the time period was one of the greatest talkers, and in ring performers that has ever existed in Professional Wrestling.
@Heero688 Thats true. Say what you like about Douglas, but he was one of the greats in the ring. But the problem was, he was his own worst enemy. It's like he is a magnet for heat with his rotten attitude.
Shane Douglas was incredible on the mic. I loved it in E.C.W. when you used to grab the mic and say "cut the d*m music." Shane was also incredible in the ring. He put on great matches every night.
I love the way the crowd started chanting E.C.W.!!! E.C.W. has the most energetic crowd not just in wrestling but in entertainment period. E.C.W. crowds were INSANE!! Long live E.C.W.!!
