Well, folks, there is talk now of Pitt joining the Big Ten. And, I am all for it, as it would mean Pitt would play Penn State again, whether JoePa is still around or not. AND, it would also mean Pitt would play Ohio State and Michigan. This would help Pitt's football recruiting, as not only are these big programs, but they are also arguably Pitt's three biggest rivals when it comes to recruiting solid OH, PA, and NJ players.

The last clip was the 1987 Pitt Peen State game. PSU was the defending National Champs, I remember watching this game at home. It was a very close game with Pitt up 3-0 with about a min or so left. both teams had missed about 100 field goals that night. PSU was driving towards atleast a FG, but then..... Billy Owens intercepts and goes for the TD. As the brodcaster said "Pitt Stadium is going bizerks" so did my living room.

Being a Penn Stater, I miss the rivalry. Especially with Pitt having an exciting team this year with McCoy and McKillop. It would be an awesome game. I would root for my Nittany Lions. What pitt fans cannot seem to understand is why penn state offers the 3-2 or 2-1 deal. Penn State sells out every game months before the season while pitt has deals like 'bring a loaf of bread' and get your tickets half off. Pitt simply needs the game to sell tickets. I would love to see the rivalry renewed, but if it isn't, I can live with the last game being a 12-0 Pitt victory. How many times in PSU history did they get shutout? Of course they sell out, the only competition in State College is the annual tractor pull.

If you had gone a little further you would have discovered that the longest winning streak for PS was 10 games whereas the longest winning steak for Pitt was 14 games, of which there were 5 shutouts. Look, the two teams have played 96 times and there is difference of 8 wins favoring PSU, hardly a domination. So to my PSU friends, lose the superiority complex.
Say what you will, this series should be renewed. At the end of the season when all the colleges are playing rivalry week, Pennsylvanians are saying "We use to have the Pitt-PSU rivalry. Forget the excuses; Let's get this party started.

Joe Pa is still angry about how the Big East was formed and this is his way of punishing us. He has won!

Hey, You have the Noles. They have a rivalry with Miami (South Florida is basically another state) along with it in Florida and many look forward to it. Same with KU vs. KSU and KU vs. Mizzou.
Even though people pay more attention to the Texas-OU game, you still have Texas vs. A and M, the historical state braggin rights game. If PA has two schools like that, they should have a game like the UF-FSU or UT-TAM games.

Well, folks, there is talk now of Pitt joining the Big Ten. And, I am all for it, as it would mean Pitt would play Penn State again, whether JoePa is still around or not. AND, it would also mean Pitt would play Ohio State and Michigan. This would help Pitt's football recruiting, as not only are these big programs, but they are also arguably Pitt's three biggest rivals when it comes to recruiting solid OH, PA, and NJ players.

simple concept when Paterno is gone Pitt and Penn State will play again its cause of Paterno that this rivalry is dead. Paterno still holds his grudge against Pittsburgh for joining the Big East Basketball Conference in 1982 and not joining his Eastern Dream League. Penn State, who has more to offer than most other major football program in the country, is recruiting lights-out right now. Pitt, who is a much harder sell for talent, is doing well for what they have to offer. But, I know that, due to the intensity of the rivalry, if they played every season, Pitt would do even better in recruiting, especially in-state.

Lets review your argument for a moment. Yes Iowa did destroy PSU's title shot, a job well done. However, a one point (21-20) 4th quarter comeback victory by the Panthers does little to indicate that the Panthers had "no problem" in taking care of the Hawks. Couple this information with the fact that Pitt played Iowa at home (in front of all 20k in attendance) at the beginning of the season gives you little to brag about. And by the way, the last good Pitt team was 20 yrs before you were born.

The last clip was the 1987 Pitt Peen State game. PSU was the defending National Champs, I remember watching this game at home. It was a very close game with Pitt up 3-0 with about a min or so left. both teams had missed about 100 field goals that night. PSU was driving towards atleast a FG, but then..... Billy Owens intercepts and goes for the TD. As the brodcaster said "Pitt Stadium is going bizerks" so did my living room.

Oh yeah further proof that Pitt football is a joke. Terelle Pryor didn't even consider Pitt when he decided that he wanted to play football and not basketball. When asked at a Pitt basketball game if he was considering playing football for Pitt he flat out said no. And he wanted to play for a school close to home. The PAC-10 is horrible, don't get me wrong USC is great, but they are overrated as well, except for this year where they are ranked where they belong. Son, who the hell have you played? Bowling Green, Buffalo, Syracuse, injury riddled Iowa. Don't even go there about South Florida. Talk about overated. Other than Matt Grothe and a few skill position players, they would have a hard time beating Minnesota this year. How about the the 48-14 shellackin' by Penn State against Marino and company in '82? Didn't want to show that one, did yuns? Mighty short Pitt "glory reel" here. Penn State's would run about 45 minutes. Meanwhile, PSU beat Coastal Carolina 66-10, while Pitt lost to Bowling Green. Pretty pathetic. Would good would the rivalry do for Penn State? Being a Penn Stater, I miss the rivalry. Especially with Pitt having an exciting team this year with McCoy and McKillop. It would be an awesome game. I would root for my Nittany Lions. Another what if I throw to my Pitt friends is in 2002 who would have had a bigger game? Larry Fitzgerald or Larry Johnson? I feel Paterno is holding it hostage. Saying 2 for 1 is bullshit. We have been playing Notre Dame, Syracuse home and home, I would rather play Pitt for the bragging rights!!

Penn State sells out every game months before the season while pitt has deals like 'bring a loaf of bread' and get your tickets half off. Pitt simply needs the game to sell tickets. I see my friend afradovic9 has done his research homework, good job. If you had gone a little further you would have discovered that the longest winning streak for PS was 10 games whereas the longest winning steak for Pitt was 14 games, of which there were 5 shutouts. Look, the two teams have played 96 times and there is difference of 8 wins favoring PSU, hardly a domination. So to my PSU friends, lose the superiority complex.

PSU fans say that they won't play us because they don't need to. I'll admit PSU is a better program right now, but the same could not be said during the Walt Harris days and the same can not be said for the next few years. Last year PSU played a tough non-conference schedule against Florida International, Buffalo, and Temple. This year they play 1AA Coastal Carolina, Temple, and Syracuse. Joe Pa is still angry about how the Big East was formed and this is his way of punishing us. He has won!
