  • The war child came to visit us at the University of Florida he told us the story of kids forcing other kids to pee in cups for drinking. it was ROUGH!!!!!

  • When you open your eyes to what has happened and still happens in the world... it is easier to wake up and thank God for your own life even with its problems. The problems may seem trivial compared to what others have walked in their life.

  • Is he South Sudanese?

  • @rkra0121 yep

  • @rkra0121 you he is.

  • An amazing song that tells a story of pain and struggling, and how he overcame it all.

And even if you don't like the song, try to see the story of suffering behind it.

  • wow the other day i knew of this man because we were studying about music at english class and his story came up :)

  • very beautiful song!!! you are a crack

    good luck from spain

  • Fuck people don't like this song.

  • who dislikes this?

  • There's someone spazzing in the background...?

  • @AnimeGuy123123 it's supposed to represent him while he was in the healing process, trying to fight off the war inside him n imbracing the child that he really is. u should read his book, it's really sad. it's called War Child. it's an amazing read :(

  • amazing it really means somthing.. not like all these songs that mean nothing and sell 1million

  • iam going to buy this song instead of downloading it for free cause he diserevers every cent, PEACE

  • Nice! Also please watch the "Stop The Violence Official Music Video" the movement continues...PEACE!

  • First saw this guy on al-Jazeera, and his story blew my mind. I generally like rock instead of rap, but this guy is genuine. He's not a shallow a-hole like all the American rappers. Peace and Love!

  • this fly

  • This is going to the nxt big thing in MTV

    keep it up JAL

    :D

  • nice song! (^_^)

  • I like the concept of the video, it says no matter what youre going through in a rich country its nothing compared to what people are going through in the third world countries. That's what always keeps me going, no matter how much shit im going through i know there's people out there who have it worse.

  • 7 IDIOTS...WHAT THE FCK DO THEY HAVE ON THEIR MINDS...SHITS??????????????

  • Yeah, keep it up, you're a hero and a leader Mr. Jal.

  • Our peaceful speaker for Sudan...thank god there is someone out there to speak our silent pain.

  • MAD respect to Emmanuel, you did live for a reason and that reason is to get what you deserved, to live long live life smoke the bongs mad respect the 4 disrespects neva gonna see the light.

  • this man has a lot to say if you just listen i got the honer of meeting him today

  • time to locate the Emmanuel Jal discography.

    BIG UPS!

  • lil wayne is a real crap compared to this piece of gold lol

  • I'm officially a fan~!

  • incredible song! :)

  • Mm it really makes you think, so many people in the developed world think that their lives are hopeless because they lose a loved one or their buisness colapsed, I just want to slap these people and tell them they should try a single day of being a Sudanese war child, then they'll know despair, loss and true hopelessness.

  • @lolwhat221 I knew a guy who'd lived through the Sierra Leone civil war and fled to the "developed world". He got settled, but then lost his job and had to survive off benefits, under pressure to send back money back home for his family. He said the depression he felt then was actually worse than the war because it was unremitting and made him feel worthless. If you feel despair who's to say someone else's is worse? Saying that, people should make effort to appreciate what they have.

  • how did you find this logan

  • FINALLY: New hip hop music that actually has a story and meaning. Lil' Wayne and many other current artists should be ashamed of their stagnant lyrics and false sense of authority after hearing true music like this.

  • @IRorschachI You're an idiot.

  • everybody should watch the documentary God Grew Tired of Us immediately. It changed what I thought about my life. We are all so blessed,

  • seriously, who would dislike this?

    why?

  • 3 people are stupid

  • this a very powerfull music video and Emmanuel Jal's book is also horrific in its details and words.

  • its pretty awsome how a almost 4 minute song can discribe most of jals life. great artist

  • i'd put down $10000 and bet Jal goes mainstream in a year. it's unreal how amazing his songs are, beat, lyrics and inspiration combined.

  • He was at my school today in MA. very funny, very chill.

  • @TheTenaciousTim Hudson High?

  • @vikkitikki13 yea HHS

  • @TheTenaciousTim ya same here i was like in one of the middle rows in the middle section

  • Emmanuel moved me that guy needs to be awarded nobel peace price

  • i love this vid and song we are learning about emmanual jal in class and i find his life and story very sad

  • just saw war child in my class, this dude is sick.

  • The music industry REALLY needs more Emmanuel Jals and less Kanye Wests. Come to think of it, it needs to stop being an INDUSTRY and go back to more what it's supposed to be: ART.

  • @WhisperingZephyr Kanye Is one of the few true artists out there today. We need less Eminiems.

  • @DrxPreservzz "True artist"? I'll admit that Kanye's got creativity. I'll admit he's got talent. But the problem is that he tends to be a bit of a music industry puppet. He writes too much about what people "want" to hear, not what people "should" hear. Too much about the Club and his money and not enough about the world as it is. Too much of what his ACCOUNTANT wants him to write about. Too often I get the feeling he sings from his wallet and not his heart.

  • @WhisperingZephyr I disagree, I think his music represents who he is and what he likes. You can hear all of his influences in his music. It's not his fault that he IS what people want to hear, and what the industry wants to exploit.

  • @DrxPreservzz I'm glad to be able to have an polite, intelligent arguement with someone on Youtube, and I sincerly thank you for that. Too many people resort too quickly to easy insults and bad grammar.

I disagree with you, however. Kanye's music may sell well, but that doesn't mean it's a good thing. Too often, I fear, the industry pressures him to forsake creativity and meaning for content that simply generates more profit. It's one of the flaws of capitalism, sadly.

  • @DrxPreservzz You know, I'm starting to think I spoke out of turn. The world doesn't need less Kanye Wests, the world needs less Kanye wanna-be's, and for Kanye West to be himself more often. I still strongly believe that the music industry need to go back to it's roots. The CEO's and accountants just have too much control. Then again, it's hard to think of any business where that's not the case.

Thank you sincerly for opening my eyes a little wider.

  • @WhisperingZephyr i agree with you about the art but kanye is a musical genius and is real as they come

  • @gmn93 the only good thing kanye west did was Diamonds From Sierra Leone

  • @WhisperingZephyr that's is the smartest thing ever said about music

  • touching story to hear..

  • MAX respect from Toronto!

  • all i can say... is this dude make these gangsta rappas look like wankstas

  • @northwestrawness thats soooo true

  • man i thought i had problems i now appreciate stuff alot more now

  • I'm here because he was on The Hour with George Strombolopolous

  • @ShadowCrowX lol same

  • my brother listened to this in RE

    good song :D

  • I can't call that rap, no flow at all.

  • @MarkuusH please improve

  • @MarkuusH youre right, you cant call it rap....because its hip-hop

  • @MarkuusH Hes from africa, he was a true war child, when he was just a little 8 year old when he went into a training camp.

  • Much respect. We are changing the world because people like E Jal transcend the horrors of life to find a higher truth and share it with the rest of us. I think of Viktor Frankl and others. Thank you.

  • A Touch Story!!..!!

    (:

  • wow love this I am a blues nut but also like other styles this comes from the heart I also lived in a war zone as a kid in Belfast from 67 to 71 so I can relate peace to you Emmanuel. and god bless

  • like my post if u were there on friday!!!!! it was awesome i was the girl who yelled cerial and asked wat were they fightn for the hootsoos and the tootsis

  • @candygirl647 You sound like a fucking idiot. Your callous disrespect for the struggle of so many millions repulses me. Your apathy, and the apathy of people like you, is the reason this world remains such a dark place. Fuck you.

  • @Arfa1311 So? he got the soul. thats all it really matters :]

  • jay hero... you'd love this man....

  • He's been through so much and deserves America's utmost respect. He's extremely talented and hopefully his message will spread to our people and government.

  • I am in love with this, I am usually not a rap fan which I would guess has something to do with the meaningless of it , all about sex, drugs, clubs, girls etc. THIS has real meaning, this is about something, something that matters.

  • @kelseyhm check out lowkey and akala if your looking for rap with good content!

  • @Devasenawraith k :) I will thanks .

  • this guy should be a hundred times more famous

  • I consider him an inspiration!!! His book is also fantastic; we are reading it in school!

  • i love this guy have much respect for him we just watched his film in english class and i loved it !!!!

  • I'm reading his book War Child right now..

  • This is an amazing story and a courageous and beautiful young man. An inspiration to 'witness to peace in a violent world' (theme of Social Justice sunday 26 Sept)

  • I`m a Sudanese living in Australia. I really want to meet Emmanuel Jal.

in my point of view none of the western Rappers can be compared to him or him compared to then. He`s just so original.

  • @lilboolover Met him today and actually jammed and chilled with him

  • @WardWreckage thats kool i noticed he was really down to earth compared to other artist

  • watch please i made it myself: youtube.com/watch?v=3PRgvZZWTys

  • We're all in this together, when a child soldier is killed, a brother of mine is killed. When an American soldier is killed by an IED, I lose a brother. When an Iraqi mother is killed by a predator's missile, a mother of mine dies.

It sounds hippies, but hippies are purer in spirit than many of us. Humanity is weary, we can't continue the inequalities that lead to all sorts of wars, from those in Africa to the war between the rich and poor.

  • This is what I call REAL music. Many need to sit and listen to music like this. It gives you a huge insight on what's going on in the real world and how it effects people in the long run. You gotta love this song.

  • keep Standing for the truth and real word of pain. Few Billionaire making wrong decision for the rest of humanity. Messed up

  • Just finished watching the documentary about Emmanuel Jal and other "warchilds", it really opens your eyes.

  • esto si es rap mi hermano, con sentimiento

  • i love this song i was turned on to emmanuel jal thru his book Warchild it was so good!!

  • this video deserves way more than 24,807 views...more like 245 million. how does Baby by Justin Bieber get that many when this- which is so much better and artistic and has a great message- gets barely any??

  • this is sick

  • thats wats up homie i like ur style rap about real shit im going thru some simuler stuff in the bay area

  • @teenking87 HE ALMOST WAS FORCED TO EAT HIS DEAD FRIENDS! YOU ARE NOT GOING THROUGH THAT IF YOU HAVE ACCES TO A COMPUTER!

  • Aka Lil Omari

game i hope i make it

to da reall game not under

ground rapper thats who i m naw

i am a native Somali check my music

i been threw lot things almost like wat Emmanuel Ja

been threw.. my story is very sad thing so i wanna share how i feel inside

  • @psyjunta He's great!

  • This makes me cry. His story is incredible... has anyone read his book?

  • K'naan goes way harder than Emmanuel

  • @rawrcheetos no diss, i like k'naan, but k'naan is better with english because he partly grew up in canada (since he was 13, he's 32 now). emmanuel jal grew up in africa

  • Listen to this and spread this song. Let the world hear about Sudan, although it is already 25 years too late. Emmanuel, means God with us! Lord be with you, Emmanuel.

  • this guys story is what makes this song good

  • I read his book and loved it, made me cry. He is one of the most non-fake people you will ever see.

  • @Darkness113 I absolutely agree. His book made me cry and completely changed my perspective on this war... His determination and trust in God gave him success. I couldn't be more inspired by him.

  • @psyjunta you are an idot!!, it has great rythm!!

  • @blowinstuffup1 In of his other songs, "No Bling" he talks about how he knows he isn't a good rapper. It doesn't take away from the message or the song. It's still good rap. No need to be upset, dude.

  • @thecalhounninja Sorry l look like a a-hole now. :(

  • i read this guys book and to know what he has been through and the fact that he has done somthing with that and to help so many is really inspiring

    1000 thumbs up

  • @blowinstuffup1 I adore his book. His story is amazing!

  • i love his message, love this song. but to be honest, hes just saying info, not really rapping. he has better songs. but he needs to continue to say his story. people just don't understand. if youtube wasnt so stupid now, id give this an easy 5 star.

  • This guy will make a difference. Porr children please we have to end this.

  • I read the book Warchild by Emmanuel Jal today this book i recommend to anyone its so good. It moved the earth beneath me it touched my heart it showed me the hardships of reality people have to go through and harsh reality. I really liked this book its beyond explanation its his story explained thats it but its a good book trust me you wont regret reading it.

  • respect from CANADA!

  • i love african rap

    respect from italy
