  • Such a cruel irony that our planet should live for billions of years, before being blotted out of existence in the blink of an eye.

  • 0:15 "the andromeda galaxy is falling towards the milky-way."

this is awkward since the andromeda galaxy hast the most mass out of the two.

so couldn't it be that the milky-way is actually the one falling to the other?

  • In two billion years, we'll have our shit figured out.

  • @kellycolburn1 In 2 billion years the sun will be 21% hotter, I think we may very well have moved on from this planet. And in 5 billion years, even if we manage to orbit milkomeda perfectly, we sure as hell better have moved on, this planet won't exist.

  • I like how he says it would be a "catastrophe" if earth were to be thrown into it. It wouldn't be a catastrophe it would just be an instant earth rape that we wouldn't even be able to acknowledge fast enough. And i guess if we were thrown out into space we would just freeze like instantly.

  • @TheMetalSgt Um, we'd still be orbiting our sun, we'd just be stranded as a lone solar system out in deep space.

And what the hell do you mean "instantly"? This isn't exactly light speed that we'd hit something, and if we ever do go into open orbit from the sun, we'll freeze in a couple days, not instantly. We DO have an atmosphere you know.

  • Who cares about what happens in 2billion years when CERN are going to create strangelets that turn negative in the next couple of years and change all the matter on earth into strange matter, destroying the planet...The same fate that has probably happened to many other intelligence life forms in our universe, Destroyed by their own curiousity...CERN play Russian Roulette with the planet but their projects are too big to fail? only a matter of time because Nuclear research destroys us all.

  • @GoLeeroy That is rubbish, don't believe everything you read on the internet.

  • Won't be here in 2 billion years, thus I won't worry myself over this! :P

  • Im reading a lot of Bullshit here. They are 3 possibilitys not 2.

1.Get closer to the galactic center.

2.During the collision our solar system will be swept out 3 times farther from the core but stays in this new galaxy.

3.we get ejected from the galaxy but this event would have no adverse effect on the system and chances of any sort of disturbance to the Sun or planets themselves may be remote.

  • The earth, in comparison to this event, is so insignificant I don't even know why they spoke of it so much.

  • New game idea! Call of Duty: Black Holes :D

  • If Andromeda was moving towards the Milky Way, it means our galaxy is static(not moving). Dubinski should check the possiblity of the expanding universe and the possibility of our galaxy not static as such.

  • @pertown in the clip he mentioned the surpermassive black holes the one in the andromeda and in the milky way and i was disagreeing cause his comment stated the guy in the clip was talking about our sun but he wasnt and then i said that it wasnt and then explaine the whole thing to him soz

  • im eating earth mmmm...toasty

  • I've done better special effects on my 6th grade project...

  • what's the name of the dramatic theme music at 1:40? It sounds awsome

  • @luckyday465768 I'm pretty sure it's from The Matrix.

  • Comment removed

  • That would really be some nth level shit to see firsthand, though (though I wouldn't eat just before).

  • yes gone with the bang...

  • Why does he think this is funny?

  • its really a super massive black hole

  • 2:35 'if we are lucky'...u call that luck,to be thrown into empty space...

  • @kibiLP next time watch the entire video before commenting...

  • @kibiLP the only difference would be you wouldn't see stars in the sky but we would be able to observe a lot more of space that way!!!

  • dude its ok that you are scientists but did you really have to smoke weed to come up with this shit?

  • Well that's cheered me up.

  • Fuck andromeda biatch. In two billion years, we could pwn that biatch if we charge a series of lasers a hundred thousand light years across for 5000 years, we could just blow the fucker away... probably not but still, would look awesome :D

  • Either of the two:

Human race will be extinct by this time.

    Or

The Human race would've fully established across many different galaxys terraforming planets along the way. If Earth still exits it'd be evacuted along with the rest of our galaxy with the knowledge of the destruction and yet again if Earth still exits then the most that will happen is that people with mourn its destruction from calling it "The Birth Place of Humanity."

  • for some reason i dont want to toast anymore.

  • do they really have these computers, you know like they show on tv...where a scientist pushes in a calculation and then he can see a visual of a galaxy?

  • toast. mmmmm.....

  • @skibadeedooda cereal

  • 3:20 Planet self destruct mode?

  • I would love to have a car that goes 400000 kilometers per hour

  • if you are realy intreasted in the in the end of time open up The Holy Qur'an but nice effort

  • @hamadahos -_-

  • LOL in 2 BILLION YEARS we are already wiped out by the supernova of Sol (our sun) or something else OR we colonised the whole milkyway.

  • @LocosJopos1 OMFG dude really?

    1. Our sun is too small to go supernova or anything of that sort, it becomes a red giant -_-

    2. Our sun does NOT lose all of its fuel in between now and 2 billion years, the collision would happen BEFORE the sun loses all its fuel.

    3. Do you know how long a billion years is? If humanity (or whatever we have evolved into) cannot invent interstellar travel by then to get away from our sun, then shit.

    4. We might even get pwned by global warming in this century

  • @pertown 1,he isnt talking about our sun hes talking about the two black holes lurking at the centre of our galaxies

2.he didnt say the sun would lose its fuel

3.our melecular state of evolution may evolve so u are right about argument three

4.we can not get killed by global warming this century, its way two early to get killed by global warming now

5 if the sun does become a red giant were still fucked ecause of the increasing orbit and it will suck us in to our impending doom :S

  • @ironknucles99 i dont get what you mean by ur #1, clearly locosjopos said we will get wiped out by Sol's supernova, WHICH CANNOT HAPPEN. Since he said sol, im pretty sure he IS talking about our sun, not 2 black holes, i dont even know where you got that from from his comment.

  • @pertown A billion years is 365 billion days.

  • BBC, you could do way better then this. The simulations of the galaxies looks incredibly fake (why are there random explosions all over the screen?) , and a collision would be nothing like this. You would hardly notice it, there would be no 'great shockwaves'. The galaxies would just merge over millions of years.

The stars in galaxies are spaced so far apart that there would barely be any collisions. Collisions happen all the time, and planets aren't destroyed because of them, as shown here.

  • @sSketcha Hey boy! You went to school for this? You got a job for this? You study this? Is that a NO I feel coming on for these questions? Probably, so shut up and lets us believe what we want to believe. Don't you understand that they wouldn't study this for 100s of years for nothing?

  • @Morbuzka

The people, or person, that studies this are probably right. I just hate the fact that BBC documentaries always seem to over-dramatize just to make it seem more interesting. I think I should have made that more clear in my comment, so sorry about that.

Your comment did make my day though :)

  • How explain universe

first there was a atom. It blew up.

    All came from that atom.

    the atoms will go away.

    When its empty.

    Check up.

    You see ligth.

You are in a giant nose

  • I love the size of the earth in that.

It's a bit like looking at the Risk board and discovering that the British Isles is the biggest area in Europe.

  • we will evolve!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • very interesting but i dont think wewill be around for 2billion years idk probubly some caotic shit will happen...

  • Oh noes! Someone better start writing self help book s about "How to survive the galactic collision"!!!

  • if we dont make it to another galaxy in 2 billion years we deserve to be extinct.

  • @creapah yep so true

  • I won't be alive.

    Not my problem.

  • this clip is to science what porn is to film making....

  • the spooky music isn't reassuring me

  • 3.11 to 3.31 can you imagine what the Earth is saying ? "F**K YOU BLACKHOLE! YOU AIN'T GOT SHIT ON MEEEeeeeeeeeeee..............." Splat! Lol ! ! ! I really need to get a job :-(

  • 3 billion years the earth ends........ ill be long gone...Do i care.. ummm NOOOOO!!!

  • The music and narrator are so cheesy... they totally destroy the effect inspired by the event and the artist's rendition of it. Mute this one and play this while watching it

    youtube.com/watch?v=e3fqE01YYWs :D

  • Sounds great

  • lol they stole the music from the 3rd Matrix movie for this video >.<

  • anyone really think that humans will exist in 2 billion years?

by then we will have evolved into somthing else. Also in 2 BILLION years there is no way to tell what level our technology will have reached.

  • @DeMause hell no... well idk, that's just what I think - we will destroy ourselves a lot sooner than 2 billion years

  • @Mga2k9 if we were going to destroy ourselves then it would have been back when russia and the US were ready to do it.

we are past that point and the chance of us blowing ourselves up just keeps going down

  • @DeMause You can never be sure...

  • So its only a matter of time before the earth is stuck in the middle of that plethora of destruction, sucks to be the humans of "that" time.... >_>

  • @knowslian not at the rate that technology is expanding

  • Comment removed

  • If the sun was thrown outside the galaxy, the earth and the other planets would follow alongside in their orbits, and for a few million years afterwards the sun itself would orbit the two galaxies as they converged. Then, when the two galaxies joined together, the sun, earth and the planets, would re-arrange themselves into the newly formed 'Andrilky Way'!

  • Oh fuck!!! COME ON!!! I'm already fucking creeped out that Stars are stalking us 24/7 able to kill us! Asteroids will kill us and now this!? Its like everything is ultimately doomed! So there is no such thing as a Perfect Spot planet!

  • Aww the earth is so cute and so undeffensive watching those to bullys eating them selves.

  • Is anyone else really hungry for toast after that?

  • yay 4th of july!

  • that is so scary

  • 3:17

WTF!!?? the earth is just watching it explode like its a movie lol

  • 1:30

    fireworks!!

  • atleast nobody right now will get to experience that lol!!

  • when he said toast, ther e were two things in my mind at that moment- people are gonna die!!!AND IM HUNGRY

  • @Krissii17 Ya Think o.o?

  • unlucky to the human race if its still there

  • Our universe is constantly expanding at a unimaginablly rapid rate. Black holes balance this effect in order to have life. If Black holes did not exist , our solar system and every other star you see in the sky would very quickly fade out of vision and drift into the constantly expanding nothingness. Black holes hold all spiral galaxys together. They are our anti - expansion device. They hold us in perfect balance. They are our friends.

  • LOL like we are still on the earth in 3 billion years. We are long gone by then to another planet... if we ever survive a nuclear war. We would have several colonies on distant planets. Or just living in space on a giant spacestation.

  • The time prediction is all wrong. Blacks holes are just theory. No real solid evidence of their existence exists. As for the galaxy collision, I can say is wrong too. It's estimated our Sun has 5.5 billion years left until it enters the Red Giant phase, which is how the end of our planet is to this date accurately going to end. All I can say is, if you're interested in black holes, don't confuse them with a threat to our planet.

  • if this blast the earth will be toasts... where will new life begin then?

  • @huneegee .... the present is the effect of a cosmic blast billions of years ago. Billions of years later another huge and big blast will form another chain of living creatures like us. And this will goes on and on in a cosmic cycle of birth, death and rebirth.

  • i hope earth does get flung into empty space..we might bump into some of our neighbours...

  • OMG WHAT IS GOING ON IN 1:38? OMG THATS EPIC!!

  • does earth look a little ''flooded'' to anyone?

  • @Didgedy Way too flooded :/ in 2050 population can be from 9 mrd to 20mrd

  • If humans live long enough then I wouldn't worry about this scenario.

Whatever evolution exists will be more than capable of creating its own universes.

  • How many years do really have? sic

  • @Slumpnasty trust me...alot....a whole lot.it can end in 3 possible reasons the one you just saw or our black whole will get us....or or sun will die D:

  • Andromada's already what you could call Obese. It has sucked in another galaxy before, and it has two centres! So if Andromada 'eats the Milky Way', Could it get galactic heart disease? LOL

  • @RCT3Crashes100 Me in 3 billion years (Just saying): ....LOSE SOME WEIGHT ANDROMEDA!!!

  • @RCT3Crashes100 or even three super massive black holes in i's center. Thats one fat galaxy. Too many galactic sized Big Macs.

  • @RCT3Crashes100 it's called a myogalactical infarction LOL

  • @RCT3Crashes100 We are going to be ejected by andromeds' s black hole like shit lol

  • @RCT3Crashes100 Yush

  • we'll all be long gone by then. i doubt we'll be around in 10000 years

  • Funny, as far as I have heard when Milky Way and Andromeda collide, nothing will happen to Earth at all except we'll get some more stars in the sky since galaxies mostly consist of empty space.

  • Hate to be the bastard alive in 2 billion years hahaha!

  • @TheHunterHatfield now what.. thats gana come back and bight you in the butt some day mabye >_> you know what i mean :P

  • @TheHunterHatfield our solar system may have already been destroyed before then

  • sounds like dramatic predictions, physists like intimidating us with calculations more so thought to be complex

  • Hm...well, sometimes it's thought that 'feeding' off one galaxy reinforces the structure of the other.

  • How can he actually know this will happen? He could've had a wrong calculation in the text. What happens if the Andromeda galaxy looks like its going for us but it's going to turn. I have a theory, maybe a giant (I mean really BIG) Solar storm would happen with wind going thousands of km a second pushing the Andromeda gallacy into a nother galaxy. When they collide we should have popcorn in our left hand and coke in the right!

  • We have to win this, folks. We'll show Andromeda we know a thing or two about kicking asses. And then it will retreat in disgrace. Milky Way-Andromeda 1-0

  • fuegos artificiales :D

  • so basically they will either eat each other until they are gone, or untill they combine as one...GREAT! :D

  • this nerd sounds stupid...haha...worst chaos simulation everr...moron

  • lucky none of us will be alive in 1 billion years :3

  • @boxerpupplover9 it's 2 billion years. and i'll be alive, you'll see.

  • @h0rangi

    O.o .....oookkk......

  • We'll all be falling off the clouds in heaven at that time xD

  • pff..why they try to understend if they show us disney cartoons ..fuckers....i`m boored..fucking retards..:))

  • "so the atmosphere will be gone... the seeds will boil off into space... and the earth... would be... toast.........."

  • Don't you mean, when the 2 black holes converge, they will form a LESS massive black hole?

  • hahaha the earth goes in the black hole (not gonna happen) then HUGE EXPLOSION

  • This whole theory is wrong.

  • @CharlieTeague sorry yes it is.

  • by the time that happens (2 billion years) imagine our technology lol no need to worry :D

  • Damn, bit long to wait, wouldnt mind watching that!

  • I love the part around 1:15 the milk way is like: NONONONONO GET THE F*** AWAY NONONONNONON NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO*Boom*

  • Baad animations tought..

  • you can tell he's having fun imagining the toasted surface of our planet. Toast!

  • TOAST!

  • 3 BILLION years ? By that time we'll most likely be on another planets thousands of lightyears away, we'll have the technology to MOVE planets as we want to so the earth will be safe lol...

  • @TheDezmona and we'll be sat watching it as the news channel televise it! lol

  • I CAN'T WAIT

  • @MaxXspeed1588 No you cant.. To long to it happens :P

  • TOAST

  • Fun thought: We'll all be dead when this happens... I think that kills any mood at the time for me.

  • earth: we're going in!

  • 2 000 000 000 years is 1/2 the age of the earth.

  • @ukidding no im not kidding

  • when 2 supermassive holes collide it create wormhole and the wormhole suck all the dragging space and time and it gonna lead everyone of us in diffrent time and only possible for stoping this is veryveryvery big matter like vaccum when we put our hands in it its stop. and this is true when the 2supermassive holes collide

it create a parallel universe which the time does not exist or neither that can i say.

  • @coder0091 i heared that in the center of galaxies most likely find black holes. now 2 galaxies and 2 black holes. that supports yuor theory

  • and the Earth will be... toast

    Lol

  • if 2 black holes merge, then is there a chance of a paradox, as in, what if the black holes are wormholes, and they lead to different places in different times? would it duplicate matter? or could it just be split in half?

  • hmm I have to change my diet to survive 2 billion years...god I am happy that we got viagra :D

  • science is awesome!!

  • lol they forgot to mention how a new bigger milky way would form to make even more life

  • Lol the way he says "Toast" at the end...

  • 3:16 Earth is gonna win that battle!!!!!

  • @Lukashi27 For the horde!

  • dammit, who divided by zero?

  • WHETHER OR NOT YOU BELIEVE IN RELIGION

HOLY SHIT PEOPLE, TODAY SEPTEMBER 30 IS A LANDMARK IN HISTORY FOR ASTRONOMY

SCIENTISTS HAVE DISCOVERED THE FIRST EARTH-LIKE PLANET IN HISTORY

GO TO YOUTUBE USER : XKUNX

FOR THE BREAKING NEWS AND THE LOW DOWN THAT MIGHT EVENTUALLY CHANGE WORLD THINKING ON EARTH

  • Can't wait! :)

  • bukannya gas sahaja bahkan besi, bintang-bintang yang sudah tepu dengan logam akan tertarik kedalam lohong hitam tu,kemudian hancur, hasilnya logam di angkasa, rahmat buat alam.

  • 3 billion years ! ...that should give me enough time to say goodbye to my friends....LOL !!!

  • @harmageden LOL yeah over several lifetimes... :P

  • "Dubinski worked out that this violent collision will knock the earth and its solar system out of orbit."

    NO FUCKING SHIT

Theire talking about black holes colliding. SRSLY BBC

  • Then, he's saying that by the year 3,000,002,010 there is a high possibility that the Earth will be gone....I wonder if people will actually write tike that the year number, there won;t be space as well :D

  • dont worry i think humanity will self destruct before we get eaten by a black hole :P

  • @Razyeldev meh, we might get to other galaxies by then. or not. lol XD

  • BULLSHIT

  • ...what 'HOPEFULLY' well be thrown out in the emptiness of space? i would rather just die instantly ._.

  • 3 bilion years? Too bad we won't be here to watch it happen.. right? Could be cool.

  • Guess its time to look for a new galaxy.

  • sounds like reincarnation

  • Don't worry. It won't happen soon. At least in 5 billion years.

Mandkind will be long long gone by then.

  • better call on Bruce Willis to save us again....

  • @hoff135 Bruce Willis will have to drill that 800 feet on the black hole and drop a nuke again while playing aerosmith

  • woa it look like theres fireworks!

  • at technologys current rate of acceleration we will survive it but 2 billion years in the future methinks or well be dead by then lol

  • verry funny they named it "hole"

    better name it singularity.

matter is like a sponge, can press it tougehter

but matter is rubber like pressed together, the more pressed together, energy there is to expand.

when there is no more energy left to press it all together. there is only one posibility.

    kaboom.

  • why is the matrix soundtrack playing

  • well seeing as how we will have the technology to leave our crappy planet by then i think this video is irrelevant, or we will all be dead.

  • He left out the third option where instead of being on the outer rim or the inner rim we are just kinda on the side between and we just see a poorly animated fire works show.

  • 2 billions years?

I'll write that down on my calender ¬¬

  • I dont get it.. If they say the Universe is constantly getting bigger. Doesnt that mean the distance between us and andromeda becomes bigger too?

  • NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO 300billion years later :( i hate being immortal
