A friend of mine, a girl I grew up with turned out to be a lesbian later in life. And you know what, she saved my life when I was 10 years old and had been sexually assaulted by a boy on our street. She is the nicest girl I have ever known. There's a gay man I used to work with, nicest guy ever. He's awesome and funny. My only lament is all the guys I could easily fall for, are mostly gay.
I really don't care as long as they stay at a distance. The only thing that I find really annoying is the gay voice. People may not choose to be gay, but they do choose to talk in that voice. Just my opinion.

@JasonNuka you cannot choose to be gay or straight, your attraction to either gender is based directly upon hormones(something you have no control over). bisexuals, who have that particular set of hormones that allow them to be attracted to both genders, can choose what gender they would rather be with. so, calling him bisexual was saying that he is physically attracted to both genders, him claiming to be straight means he prefers women to men, therefore a choice.

You're right, being a homosexual isn't something someone has a choice about. However, how someone chooses to present themselves as a gay man/lesbian can greatly differ. Two of my male friends who are gay are very open about and don't really give two shits about who doesn't like it. Some people on the other hand want to keep it a secret, sometimes living double lives (a good example is mentioned by Dave Gorman on one of his shows - Googlewhack Adventure). It's because of such closed minded opinions that I tend to avoid religion these days. For many people, religion is why they oppose gay marriage. Whatever happened to separation of church and state? So many times, the impact of what a religion teaches will affect government. Gay marriage is one such point. Kinda late to respond but I agree. I used to be really closed off. My opinions were really closed off and I really used to dislike gay people. When I went off to college I moved and I actually got more of a chance to interact with gay people. I feel bad for being so closed off. They're just like any day normal people. I actually read about the study that Kaishakunut is talking about on MSNBC. It compared brain activity and other items of homosexual individuals to their "straight" counterparts. To make a long story short, the minds of homosexual men matched more closely with women, and for women vice versa (in most cases.) It was something about how the brain was put together to make it work in that way. To have something like that suggests that homosexuality definitely isn't a choice. I'll look for the link.
Christains should know (I'm a Christain) that when Jesus died on the cross, it made the old testimate moot. @kbasing The Old Testament wasn't done away with. Jesus fulfilled those past prophecy's and laws. God is the same as he was past, present, and future. God came in flesh and died a perfect sacrifice because he saw how we couldn't even keep 10 simple laws and saved anyone who would believe. Again, it didn't do away with them. Read 1st Corinthians 6:9-11. I don't force people to believe what I believe, but I do enjoy telling people the good news. We Christians have rights too :)
@RonixEnclave Exactly. I think the main problem with how a lot of Christians view homosexuality is that even though the Bible calls it a sin, it's not the epitome of sin like they make it out to be. Christians forget that while we see sin in degrees, God does not. my friend got into an argument with another friend about gays and the conversation went like this, as far as I remember, anyway.
"They choose to be gay, thats that"
"You're an idiot. Did you choose to be straight?"
"YES!"
"Then congratulations, you're bi."
I laughed so hard at the argument, and the obvious winner was the friend supporting gay rights. I just thought I would share.

@JasonNuka you cannot choose to be gay or straight, your attraction to either gender is based directly upon hormones(something you have no control over). bisexuals, who have that particular set of hormones that allow them to be attracted to both genders, can choose what gender they would rather be with. so, calling him bisexual was saying that he is physically attracted to both genders, him claiming to be straight means he prefers women to men, therefore a choice.

Think of it this way, you discover that you are bisexual, so basically you can choose which gender you want to date at that moment in time, I think most people would probably choose whatever the heterosexual choice would be to avoid persecution.

You're right, being a homosexual isn't something someone has a choice about. However, how someone chooses to present themselves as a gay man/lesbian can greatly differ. Two of my male friends who are gay are very open about and don't really give two shits about who doesn't like it. Some people on the other hand want to keep it a secret, sometimes living double lives (a good example is mentioned by Dave Gorman on one of his shows - Googlewhack Adventure). Sorry if I ranted too much =/

Before anyone starts saying im anti-gay, Im fucking not, I live in California and I have about 5 gay friends, and they are some of the chillest people I know. I am in the neutral, as Im both Christian, and I understand they should be able to marry, but...the court declaring Prop 8 Unconstitutional is..bullshit...Being gay is actually neither genetic, nor is it a religion. You cant say its Unconstitutional..but whatever, just putting my opinion out there...<.<

I agree to equal rights however, I can understand why there are stereotypes and haters, honestly, its associated with personalitys that of course are in tune to their sexuality, so in other words, the only reason why everyone is hating... is cause no one can understand, so what do you do? I used to be bi (still kinda am)and i am religious. I was always so afraid to tell anyone because people will put you down for it. It's because of such closed minded opinions that I tend to avoid religion these days. For many people, religion is why they oppose gay marriage. Whatever happened to separation of church and state? So many times, the impact of what a religion teaches will affect government. Gay marriage is one such point. I just hope people get their heads out of their rear ends and start to understand what you've so kindly worded here.

You're completely right about gay rights and how little rights they seem to get. I can't stand how people who are straight take marriage as a joke and they are people who are allowed that right while lesbians and gays aren't. I can't stand that! I'm a lesbian and I've gotten a few dirty looks at people because I've told them I'm a lesbian. I didn't choose to be a lesbian either it just felt right with me to be with another woman. It was natural to me.

There are a lot of christians and other people who argue tons of dumbass things, like that gay marriage defeats the purpose of a marriage , which is to procreate, which is silly to me, because there are thousands of heterosexuals (Many of them are probably gay hating) that never have children, ipso facto (I think that's the correct use for this) they are defeating the purpose too.

You are an amazing man and I appreciate this rant. I am all for gay rights and this really hit it home for me about how I feel. My cousin is bisexual?/ lesbian and I love her nomatter what you know? I wouldnt hate her just cuz she is gay. My boyfriend is from mexico and he is always saying that only America has gay people and that its not normal. And he says its gross. I dont know how to explain to him that being gay isnt a choice, its who people are. And that its not just America that does it.

Kinda late to respond but I agree. I used to be really closed off. My opinions were really closed off and I really used to dislike gay people. When I went off to college I moved and I actually got more of a chance to interact with gay people. I feel bad for being so closed off. They're just like any day normal people. I actually find them more amusing because they feel more real to me than most people. They're not afraid to be themselves. I'm just ranting now.

I actually read about the study that Kaishakunut is talking about on MSNBC. It compared brain activity and other items of homosexual individuals to their "straight" counterparts. To make a long story short, the minds of homosexual men matched more closely with women, and for women vice versa (in most cases.) It was something about how the brain was put together to make it work in that way. To have something like that suggests that homosexuality definitely isn't a choice. I'll look for the link.

Christains should know (I'm a Christain) that when Jesus died on the cross, it made the old testimate moot. So, that lovely little verse everyone loves to quote, the "A man shall not lay with another man....etc" NO LONGER MATTERS. There is nothing wrong with being gay and they should have equal rights to straight people. Even if it was a sin, who says that means they can't have rights? Everyone sins anyway. @kbasing The Old Testament wasn't done away with. Jesus fulfilled those past prophecy's and laws. God is the same as he was past, present, and future. God came in flesh and died a perfect sacrifice because he saw how we couldn't even keep 10 simple laws and saved anyone who would believe. Again, it didn't do away with them. Read 1st Corinthians 6:9-11. I don't force people to believe what I believe, but I do enjoy telling people the good news. We Christians have rights too :)

@RonixEnclave Exactly. I think the main problem with how a lot of Christians view homosexuality is that even though the Bible calls it a sin, it's not the epitome of sin like they make it out to be. Christians forget that while we see sin in degrees, God does not. They let "For ALL have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God" slip their minds and somehow think they're on a pedestal because they're saved. Not one person deserves salvation more than another.

I have most of the same opinions as you, BUT I have a sort of a problem with some girls I know over-exaggerating homosexual love between two men being way more appealing to them as every other gender's love. The people involved are pulling for equality. They obviously are attracted to it for sex-appeal, and for some reason it really pisses me off.
