  • How do You make a engine sound?

  • @EXdriver97 Two samples are used for low and high RPM. Both are played and pitch is changed at runtime. More samples give you better quality.

  • @thedmd86 did you just ramdomly put real logos.

  • @XBOXNationTVHD No, this logo is not random. This was a logo of the company where I'm working. It was, because we now have a new one.

  • @thedmd86 hey do you know any brands of video game software?

  • @XBOXNationTVHD Personally?

  • @thedmd86 yes personally.

  • @XBOXNationTVHD Yes, but I'm not very much involved in contacts with them.

  • @thedmd86 why?

  • @XBOXNationTVHD Because I'm a programmer not manager.

  • @thedmd86 ok do you need a graphic card to make the graphics great?

  • @XBOXNationTVHD Yes.

  • @thedmd86 ok then

  • Can you make a tutorial?

  • @CrazyAshot At the moment I cannot. It is possible in undetermined future.

  • @thedmd86 Thanks

  • hello again, I think I found the solution you gave me, I'm just one last question, your car is a character / controller or rigidbody .. thanks for your time and with this I hope to continue my game .. thanks

  • @LFSalcido My car is a rigid body.

    Good luck!

  • @thedmd86 okay thanks for all your help has helped me a lot now I hope to finish my game .. greetings

  • To count number of laps I put big trigger on start/finish line. When cart move through it an event is raised. Then I check car movement direction and according to result lap is accepted or not.

Counting lap time is quite simple. When you have lap event implemented.

  • @thedmd86 thanks for the help, it has helped me because I think I deviated from my goal and was doing things wrong, but I was not very clear what the big trigger but start looking. Thank you.

  • @LFSalcido you're welcome.

big trigger is an collision box checked as trigger. it raise an event when other collidable object touch/pass thought it.

  • hello, that good work is very well done, I hope you can help me with my project apparently already have much experience, I am also making a car game but I do not understand how to display the number of laps, the timer, the best and worst time, greetings and thanks

  • Hi,

This has been by far the best car driving experience under Unity I've had.

Did you released code somewhere in the unity forums. I would love to give it a try as I found some other tutorials to be a bit simple with not very realistic results.

    bye!

  • I'm afraid that source code never was published.

  • no problem, I do perfectly understand. I just didnt want to lose the opportunity of trying this in my own environment.. Great work!

  • @pablovidaure @pablovidaure Thanks! I cannot be sure what will we do with this code. Maybe someday we release it, maybe. : )

    Don't loose your hope.

  • the file is down :) maybe you should reupload it?

id like to take a look at it

  • I have unity but I still dont know what Physx is and how it works with unity can you tell me.

  • PhysX is a physic engine. It is responsible for integrating rigid body movement and collisions. Those are just most basic features. You can learn more about this on NVIDIA site.

  • Your driving model looks amazing! Have you ever played Gearhead Garage or Street Legal? Games where you get to customize your car in a garage format. I've been wanting to create a game similar to that but on a capable engine. Can you contact about your engine? I'm just getting started with unity and I want to learn it.

  • I know Gearhead Garage. Well, there is no such think like "my engine". I'm using Unity3D and this vehicle was created using single script file.

  • That's cool. Like I said, I'm still trying to learn unity3d... Is there any way I can look at your files?

  • Looking at those files can do more bad than good. Since this code is very messy it is not easy to get valuable information. Better try some well documented examples.

    Good luck!

  • Impressive... looks really good.

  • Thanks

  • Thanks. Stiffnes is changed dynamically while driving. It is based on empirically determined curve (or curves).

  • Looks cool, good to see some sideways action :) How did you avoid the ice-rink feel where the the car is moving in a straight direction but the rear wheels take a long time to straighten up? Do you normally have a high lateral stiffness, but relax it when the user steers?
