Kaname:When Yuki reveals her attachment to Zero. Kaname tells Yuki that he is not her brother but, her ancestor. Later, he soon reveals that his true intentions aren't to be with Yuki . He has underlying intentions that aren't revealed yet, but he does say to Yuki, saw him kill Aidou's dad, "I have to fulfill my original goal, Yuki." Kaien confronts Kaname & says he is going to kill Kaname for many reasons but because of Yuki.

@MsGirgirl Kanem is the guy who has dark hair. Zero is the silver haired guy. Kaname is a pureblood, Zero is a Level D, going on to E....I think. Wikipedia has better info on the anime and its characters.

Kaname is a jerk.

Technically no. It doesn't really explain it well in the Anime, however, Kaname is actually one of the founders of vampires and beginning of the Kuran line (the original Kuran) who was resurrected by Rido through a sacrifice of Yuki's real older brother. Kaname's powers weren't fully awakened and he entrusted his child self to Yuki's parents who took him in to protect him and Yuki from Rido.
