I'm all for the elimination of public censorship. I also admire those who allow unlimited access to their YT comments. However, I don't think of YT channels as a public forum in general. Only if the channel creator wants it that way. I liken it to having a party at my house. A private space where public use is allowed under house rules which differ from place to place. Want to attend, simple, abide by house rules.

I absolutely agree with the sentiment of this video. Freedom of speech and other First Amendment rights are our most precious and must be protected. However, it is not just creationists doing the censoring. Just as often, Atheist establishment in academia and the media censure and oust those with opposing views. If any of you had learned anything about fair use, you would see how ED is in the wrong, how the DMCAs against them are legitimate (except the one(s) by CSE), and that you are only spouting your own baseless assumptions and displaying a categorical ignorance of copyright law and fair use.
And how do you lose a DMCA claim, except in Court? I'm well read on copyright law, and I don't understand that notion.
The very material claimed as copyrighted by the people filing the DMCA says in the videos that it is not copyrighted. And the claim is lost when the person who files it retracts it before it ever gets to court. When they say lose a claim, they mean that. That the person who files it admits they were wrong.
Umm... no. Only CSE says their materials are not copyrighted. All other organizations listed copyright their material.
And the claim is not considered retracted until the statute of limitations passes without any court action (which is 3 years, by the way). Until it passes, the option to pursue it in Court remains.
As far as I know, in this matter, I've not seen anyone publicly retract their copyright claim and admit they are wrong, except VFX.
In the light of all the revolutions that has happened within the last century, you'd think free speech would be an issue that was long ago dealt with. Academic progress is a topic that should be subject to debate, scrutiny, proof and reference. The moment we let those standards slip and let the "other guys" win is the moment when we all lose... not each as an individual, but everything we hold to our core values of education, but as a group will be lost.

Ive got to say u guys are doing a great job at raising awareness about DMCA abuse.
DMCA is nessary to protect copyright, but this is absolute abuse, which is really pathetic.

If any of you had learned anything about fair use, you would see how ED is in the wrong, how the DMCAs against them are legitimate (except the one(s) by CSE), and that you are only spouting your own baseless assumptions and displaying a categorical ignorance of copyright law and fair use.
And how do you lose a DMCA claim, except in Court? I'm well read on copyright law, and I don't understand that notion.

The very material claimed as copyrighted by the people filing the DMCA says in the videos that it is not copyrighted. And the claim is lost when the person who files it retracts it before it ever gets to court. When they say lose a claim, they mean that. That the person who files it admits they were wrong.

Umm... no. Only CSE says their materials are not copyrighted. All other organizations listed copyright their material.
And the claim is not considered retracted until the statute of limitations passes without any court action (which is 3 years, by the way). Until it passes, the option to pursue it in Court remains.
As far as I know, in this matter, I've not seen anyone publicly retract their copyright claim and admit they are wrong, except VFX.

In the light of all the revolutions that has happened within the last century, you'd think free speech would be an issue that was long ago dealt with. Academic progress is a topic that should be subject to debate, scrutiny, proof and reference. The moment we let those standards slip and let the "other guys" win is the moment when we all lose... not each as an individual, but everything we hold to our core values of education, but as a group will be lost.

I prefer modernism to post-modernism. I prefer post-post-modernism to modernism and post-modernism. Although the concepts of relativism and pluralism are useful and necessary, these have been taken to extremes in post-modernism (in which modernism is sometimes deconstructed and demonized just as mercilessly as the pre-modernists tend to do). Well said all of you on this video, however I don't see any legal way youtube can act against those downvoting or censoring the comments or responses on their own pages. These practices, as reprehensible as they are, are purely down to the moral standards of the persons doing it. The DMCAs however, are well within the legal arena, oh how sweet would it be to see a few of these idiots get canned for that?
