So last night I finally figured out how Waits does his signature growl with his voice. Ironically, I started doing it listening to Radiohead's "Bodysnatchers," because the song goes too high in a lot of places for my voice. Lemme tell you, all those "screaming" vocalists could learn a thing or two from Waits, because if you can pull that growl off, you can pull anything off.

that is a harmony stratotone h44 guitar. They are highly sought after for their incredible tone. You can see them for sale online from time to time, but they get a bit pricy, especially if there all original parts. Eastwood makes a reissue of the guitar for about 499 or something, but they are nothing like the original. hope that helps.
