people should not just compare random models especially on a straight run....for example the ferrari fxx (fastest ferrari) is in top speed and acceleration slower than bugatti veyron,however veyron managed to complete the top gear lap ( which has been built to test cars on straight runs long turns and sharp turns all at one) in 1,18 minutes while the fxx did it in 1,10.8 (1,11) so for me it does not mean much that this particular mercedes beat that ferrari.just compare the fastest on real track

I whas thinking about buying a ferrari 360 but i came to realize that i wanted to buy a 2006 mercadez e55 amg. The e55 is about $30,000 cheaper then the ferrari 360 and it kicks that ferrari's ass. This mercadez handles just like a ferrari except it is a little faster then this ferrari. I want to get a 2006 e55 amg in black, i also want to have black custom rims, limo tinted tail lights and limo tinted windows and take the mufflers off and take the cats off so it will sound louder then a ferrari

That is kinda sad for the Ferrari but back when the 360 was out it had low horse power and torque its advantage was lightness but damn the price difference and you get more power out of that E550 for 50k than a 360 thats cost you 100k pff. The 63 and 65's take a Ferrari anyday.

I was referring to V8 R8s. But, initial reports still have the R8 V10 being just as fast as some stock E55's on the DragTimes site. The fastest E55's stock are clocking upper 11's in the quarter mile which is where the V10 R8 sits. Three thousand $ in mods on the E55 and it's in low 11's territory.

the ferrari would never win for 2 reasons 1:the merc has 76 more bhp
2:the merc has 257 lbs/ft of torque and at around 65 mph all the torques come in and the engine relies less on the power and more on the torques so it leaves pretty much everything it wants

Man, you know nothing! Torque without r.p.m. means nothing. So, it delivers all it's torque at 65, mph, but in which gear, at which rpm? The E55 goes ahead simply because it has more power (=HP).

@qqqqeqqqq the Ferrari isn't made for drag racing... That's a 360 Challenge Stradale, track car through and through. The Mercedes would be torn apart in the curves, but will beat the crap out of the Ferrari on a drag strip.

E-class has always been family oriented luxury sedan, just because AMG drops the komp and other performance/cosmetic parts, doesnt mean it loses its family car roots. if you have ever owned one, you'll know what i mean

ya e55s are more of a luxary sports car. id go for something a little more exotic for my first pick, like an audi r8, or a porsche, which isnt too much more than the e55 amg.

The grocery getter E55s are qiucker than an R8 and some Porsches. Also, the current price for an E55 is 1/3 - 1/5th the cost of most R8s and Porsches. Daily driver versatility and performance FTW.

i dont think any e55 is fast than an r8 v10 man. i got a porsche 911 carrera s pdk sport plus that is just as fast as an e55 amg

I was referring to V8 R8s. But, initial reports still have the R8 V10 being just as fast as some stock E55's on the DragTimes site. The fastest E55's stock are clocking upper 11's in the quarter mile which is where the V10 R8 sits. Three thousand $ in mods on the E55 and it's in low 11's territory.

ya money wise yur better off goin with the e55, but if i had a little extra dough id go with an r8. idk jus looks more exotic and eye catching and its a great performaning car around the track. its got good weight distributions with handling around turns.

i have an e55 and yes it does slay fazzas. in a straight line, but around bends, no probably not. but can you fit 3 kids in the back of a ferrari? 13.4 1/4 is sloooooooooow though, sounds like he lunched the start

The AMG has over 500 TQ. The ferrari is much lighter but I think the 360s didn't have much torque like 275 TQ I think.

Yepper! I love my E55 AMG - What better way to take 4 friends along and still be able to smoke a silly Mustang or even faster cars! I love the power and the features. Not many people know about the James Bond Washer spray button. It covers the car behind me in a mist for fast escapes!
