To be fair to the guy who thought it had a Ford 302 Windsor, the Nailhead and the winny sound very similar below 2000 rpms through open headers. The windsor has a bit more of a "pop" noise, but you don't really notice it at idle.
Then again, he probably just saw blue and thought Ford.
Nah man - that is a HOT rod... the trailer queens and cheque-book pro-builds that carry around over 100lbs of extra weight in chrome coatings, layer upon layer of paint, engine covers and other high-dollar rubbish might want to be hot rods and call these rats, but this is the real deal. :D
I commented previously, but commenting here again because I forgot to give you an alpha-numeric "thumbz-Up"!!! My mom's T has that very 401 nailhead...
Good point! While building a customer's car, my dad installed a pneumatic shift-mechs on a 4 speed for this very issue. Odd to me, but worked out quite decently. On my '26Tcoupe, Im just going auto as well.

Serious question, I am thinking of building a 27 Ford T 4DR. but got NO frame , can I use an 85 Chevy S10 frame and drive train? (MY 1ST BUILD SORRY)
I already have the truck runs,v6,carbed,4 speed manual I was going to just drop body onto frame then bag it.Would that fly? Thanks

the irony of the modern rat rod is that were spending a shit load of money on rare parts to make it look like its scrapped together in the 30,s.
Aarius1972 1 year ago
@Aarius1972 a shit load of money? you can build a pretty bitchin rat for around $4,000, give or take.

hi, er whats a rat rod? ha
IndigoBMX 2 years ago
My personal definition is an "unfinished" appearing hot rod. The idea is to not spend an arm and a leg on paint and interior.
matchew45 2 years ago 2
@matchew45 dont forget to add the word "sleeper" into it.
MrTokeit 1 year ago
i'd say it'd best be described as a rod with all mechanical parts done, and the body only there cause it has to be, !!!!! rats rule!!

@IndigoBMX hi, er, google?

@IndigoBMX
The true definition of a ratrod is a pile of shit on wheels, with a bright white cracker hillbilly son of a bitch driving it!!!
Sniperman1964 1 year ago

tigersrule6 2 years ago
custom built. 6" Z in the front and 17" kick-up in the rear.

Why an automatic?!?! It a rat rod!
Dropsun521 3 years ago
No room for a clutch pedal. The steering column ended up being the constraint on that decision.
matchew45 3 years ago
Bummer, would be cool with a simple 5 speed.
