Tuna, good for you if you are clean and going to school. How did you get yourself out of that cycle? I worked in Russia with homeless kids and I found it nearly impossible to get them off drugs. They were younger, 8-14 or so (14+ usually ended up in jails) but they would come to us only when they needed food or needed a warm place and then just disappear again...

I must say that your comment is refeshing after all the hatefull comments I've been getting! Thank you for your support. Looking back I am not sure how I finally got clean. I think it was a combination of rehab, family support, and personal willpower. It is true what they say about not being able to help an addict unless they want help! I spent a few years of my youth addicted to heroin with no intention of ever stopping and then a couple more years struggling to quit. Luckily, I was succesfull!

hopefully, you are right. I know of a few kids who were placed with relatives and were able to move on.  However, all of them didn't spend a lot of time on the streets. Those who did, they just changed and I suspect they hated all adults. In their eyes, adults were either potential persecutors or victims, and never to be trusted. I am doing some work with local charities for homeless in NYC and there are some homeless kids but they are always with adults, so its different.

There is such a thing as an incoragabable teen. How many are lieing about the invirenment they left? How many prefere drugs in the street to a Christian home? also where im at the street kids have pets. dogs and shit and they buy dog food for them then go out and try to get money buy asking for more dog food money .they where there fucking pet like a patch on there jacket. we have things like Manpower and labor ready . I have been homeless and most of the kids chose to be that way and most of the adults are mentaly fucked up

do you even know first hand what their home life was like? you know how many christians are completely hypocritical and fked up? just because the family was christian doesn't mean a damn thing. I've known christian families where the father was sexually abusing his children for years. who are you to say the child was making up what happened? there are not many kids that would leave a LOVING SUPPORTING HOME for a dirty street filled with drugs and crazy people.

unfortunately, the people who are NOT "less fortunate", don't have the willingness nor attention to give these very real and staggering situations. I found in my 'studies' of homelessness, the very BEST thing I could do was invite/drag along friends, co-workers, dates, curious to the streets...to actually take part in helping. That is when the light comes on...the smell of piss, shit, puke, exhaust fumes, drugs, rain, cold etc...

In the UK most if not all homeless people are homeless cus they are Junkies on smack and crack , or addicted to something. Thats the reason why they live on the street.

If a miss fortune such as , house was lost or family died lieaving a pearson homeless then I do feel pitty and does upset me. by miss fortune there homeless then we should all feel pitty

But the large percentage of homeless people are Junkies, thats why they live the way they live cus all they care about is there next hit

Thanks for posting! I think I understand your view, but perhaps there is a reason the junkies are into junk ... every time we looked into a story there was always a human behind it. If I was homeless I'd probably want something in my life to make me feel better, to look forward to. In fact it is a misconception to think that the homeless kids are there because they are weak and gave in, if fact they had a much different life experience and tend to be very wise and enlightened in their own way.

I'd also like to point out that crack, tweek and junk are not interchangeable as they are so often misused; drug education requires a degree of truth. One ultimately comes from the coca leaf, one from the poppy seed, and one from... um... labs. The heroin situation must be quite different in UK where it is semi-legal and given to the addicted, here heroin is hard to find, especially compared to crystal which is less expensive and removes the street person's two daily problems, hunger and sleep.

i'm homeless as well i have been on and off the streets since i was 10. it's amazing how many video's are on here about homeless youth.

if only they put these on Television to broaden the issue of it.
