Ward is a master at tweaking the best out of a mandolin. Crisp and clean and that's a good sounding Weber. Bell like. Nice riffs too. Thanks I enjoyed watching Congratulations.
Your enthusiasm for the '8 string' is very evident in this and all of your other videos. Just wondering why you did not send your F5 back to Weber for these repairs? Although Ward is a fantastic luthier, from what I hear.
Hey, buddy. It's good to hear from you. I opted to send it to Ward to save a little bit of money. The shipping to Montana is about double the cost, and they have a higher hourly rate.
I will add that it was a tough choice, because sending it to Weber is a slam dunk, whereas there was no 100% certainty of what I would get with ward. Thaknfully, I now know he is a slam dunk as well.
That first piece was a remnant of "Dixie Hoedown," a classic fiddle tune that I really enjoy playing. In a band setting there is a lot of room to improvise, what with all of the chord changes. In this video, I play the chords first and then play the melody.
I know I am a noob and ignorant to the ole standards of bluegrass, but was that first piece you were playing at the beginning a standard or a little set of your own design?

Sounds great man. I've been looking at Weber's but man are they out of my price range... Maybe one day.
