  • He sang that one song GLEE did!

  • Beautiful.

  • "but even the words of Ryan O'Neal" .... Oh God, oh man what a great cover.

  • from the film "The Great Rock 'n' Roll Swindle"

  • is this from a film or what ?

  • this really sad.. RIP sid.. he is a the greatest sid vicious

  • I love this version and i love Sinatra's version but i prefear this because its expressing that no one really knew Sid apart from nancy im guessing thats where alot of his hate came from that no one really gave a shti about him really sad insome ways i can connect with that RIP Sid :)

  • long live SID

  • Sinatra's Version Sucks Balls

  • Long Live Sid!

  • just fucking brilliant, love it

  • sid played bass

  • when he saw his big money?

  • fantastic, cant believe ive never seen this vid before.

  • As far as the Sinatra/Vicious debates go, the truth is it's comparing apples to oranges. They lived in quite different worlds, but each one did things his own way, so the song is equally authentic coming from either man.

  • thanks sid x

  • also i forgot does sid play bass and is the lead singer or does he just play bass

  • ha its funny how he performs and everyone loves it until he busts a cap in like six people

  • screw Sinatra! well not really but this is a great raw and dirty cover. I also loved how Scorsese used it to finish Goodfellas, which then beautiffuly sueges into Layla piano.

  • sid vicious is a crazy motherfucker. ill end it there

  • C'mon how could anyone not like the swastika wearing punk symbol of anarchy thats sid vicious..he was a funny fucker and deserves credit for that atleast lol

  • Great video, takes me back so far. Though in a way this song killed Sid as he used the money to buy the drugs that killed him.

  • Everybody knows that Ramones wanted to make pop music, ok Sex Pistols came out later, but the Pistols were the ones who gave Punk the f¨*ckin attitude

  • I love you Sid! RIP.

  • after listening this song queen also said my way and god save him doing in her own way

  • What a way to end a music video. Don't see it like that anymore.

  • @TomSpartan218 I suggest you see a documentary about the ramones. The sex pistols STARTED OUT because of the ramones. The ramones where doing punk before sex pistols even existed. Punk was invented by the ramones as an anwser to bands like pink floyd, led zepplin, iron maiden, etc. They kept things simple as they could, went back to the roots and stuck to their own capabilities. That and only that is why punk music was born. It was never a rebelion against anithing else when it began.

  • @winnetouch

I don't think that 'The Ramones' played Punk because of Bands like Iron Maiden. Maybe as an answer to Zepplin or Pink Floyd, but not Iron Maiden. Actually Iron Maiden did what they did because of the Punk Music that hat it's heights (as seen on their 'Early Days' DVD). And Maiden began playing AFTER the Ramones.

  • @Soulflyerforever I'm not a maiden fan so I wouldn't know :P. But esentially the rebelled against the pompus bands of their day...

  • @winnetouch

The Pistols did NOT "start out because of The Ramones". They wrote the song 'New York' as a fuck you to the New York "punk" scene. Most of the NY bands of the mid 70's weren't punks at all...and The Ramones were no exception. REAL first gen punks took their inspiration from the early 70's Detroit garage rockers (The Stooges, The MC5, Alice Cooper). The Ramones were inspired by 60's surf pop, which put them on the outer fringe of the punk movement...not at the centre of it.

  • @winnetouch

The Ramones didn't invent punk. They weren't even a punk band themselves. They were a garage rock band with a few good tunes, AND THAT'S IT.

The Pistols did more to define the punk movement than any other band of their generation.

  • @garethac81 punk was started by the brits. new yorkers made a joke and were like...hey, what if made a fashion like this...just to fing out the brits had already started it. they didn't know what to call this scene. journalist caroline coon named the scene punk. so now you know. stop all this shit who started it. if your gonna do that, atleast do some fucking research. by the way, brilliant video, song, and man. R.I.P. Sid!

  • @TheClassicpunk1

I DID do some research...that's how I know punk started in England.

  • @TomSpartan218 Exactly. The Pistols just had, I don't know, the attitude and just... I dunno. But yeah, you're right! :D

  • "You cunt I'm not a queer" Haha, RIP Sid :) Musical Genious or not, he is a fucking legend!

  • Cojonudo!! Sir Sid Vicious

  • I think it is quite awesome and unique. I think some might call him a musical genius.

  • Hezky si ulitl ;-)

  • yeah-that´s a serious stretch

  • yeah-that´s a serious stretch

  • I'm not a fan of Sid Vicious, but this was a good song and reel fun video!

  • @Pogo271994

  • This song is even more punk than you think.

He changed many of the lyrics, to talk about political causes of the time.

I'm sure he mocks Ferdinand Marcos (dictator of the Phillipines at the time) in one bit. He also changes the lyrics to say "the prat in the hat" to make fun of his close friend (they were still very close right up until his death) John Lydon, AKA Jonny Rotten

The Prat in the hat is what Vicious use to call John. As he liked wearing hats as a youngster

  • billy idol 1.15

  • there ya go.. he did it his way.. r.i p sid

  • its funny how sinartra fans things this cover ruined the song when the song is about living your own way and he did the song his own way

  • I never thought of it like that....Good point.

  • I agree. He changed lots of the lyrics to personalize it to his own life as well.

  • @TheDetainedCragmire indeed! that's irony huh!!!!

  • how did sid die again?

  • OD. A lot of people think it was fixed, because his H was 99% pure, which DOESN'T happen, especially back then. Then again, a lot of people think he did it intentionally, to be with Nancy. What we know for sure is that he had tried suicide before his death AND that his last fix was given to him by his own mother. Fucked up, eh?

  • A bit of a myth.

H was a lot purer in the 70s than it is now. Especially in New York.

During Vietnam, they found ways to import vast amounts of pure H from the Viet Kong.

The movie American Gangster touches on the practice a bit.

Late 70s - if you had money, was it possible to get pure H? Of course

  • Yeah, it was possible, but I doubt that if he knew how pure it really was he would've shot as much as he did. I just don't think he would've gone out of his way to OD on pure shit when he could've just as easily found the nearest dirtiest tar possible and just finished it.

  • I may be completely wrong, but I'm sure his mother admitted injecting him with the fatal dose on her death bed. She was a drug dealer remember.

According to her it was assisted suicide. He couldn't handle prison, so asked her to OD him.

She was a drug dealer remember, and (again I may be completely wrong) she purposefully injected him with super strong stuff.

Stuff on death beds is often just mythical, but maybe worth researching. I'm sure there are witness statements saying the above

  • I can;t rememeber if it was assisted suicide but i know she gave him a dose, but soemone said ebcause his body had no heroine for a bit then had ALOT at once, it was THAT what killed him. But I can;t remeber if she purposly meant to kill him or it was just an accident :)

  • herion overdose

  • drug overdose

  • heron OD

  • Another legend i'll never meet...

  • all you morons are wrong. Sid wasn't even in the original pistols. he was a fan. he was looking to start his own band but was asked to join the pistols after the orignal basist left. fuckin idiots.

  • Glen Matlock didn't leave. he was kicked out

  • Left the band? are you serious? Whether he left on his own or was kicked out, he LEFT the band was no longer a part of it.

  • aaah fair enough, just different interpretations lol.

  • First time I heard this version was from Goodfellas. Stuck with me since then. I love it!

  • ja jaaaaaaa

  • Vicious' philosophy can be summed up this way "Come on losers, you can win if you want!"

  • men sid was the icon of punk ACTITUD but musical genius wrong the guy SUCK real bad in bass guitar, theyhad to put off the bass amplifier in their performance

  • Dude, he was originally suppose to be vocalist but the screwed up and put Rotten as vocalist and him as bass. All and all I can see that hes a better vocalist than Rotten.

  • what dude rotten was vocal since '75 sid jointeh banda in the '77 after glen matlock(bass) left the band

  • you fuckin dope the wanted sid as front man first him and hohnny rotten were both named john(he wasnt sid yet) and malcom was actually meant to get sid as front man but confused the two guys. it was honestly just a mix up or sid could have been the front man for the pistols and things could have been so different. its a pity

  • wrong.

  • what??? hey hte real thing was in a bar they go in the stage and love the performance of rotten, at least that what i heard of an interwiew to the band

  • they're both as bad as eachother...which in Punk...is good. and i like it better than someone like Frank Sinatra lol

  • LONG LIVE SID VICIOUS!!!

  • i think it is a stretch to call vicious a musical genius

  • it may be a stretch, but it's not too far from the truth, if it weren't for him, and all of the sex pistols for that matter, a lot of brilliant bands would never have appeared

  • @alexisriley he wasn't a bassist, but he sang alright. As they say in the movie... "He's a fabulous disaster!"

  • @alexisriley neeh only he is only a punk symbol...

  • @alexisriley nah

  • fuck ur mum like u do every sunday afternoon after church u judgemental prick

  • yes

  • 21 years young

  • Punk face, I LOVE that he shoots his loving fans, what a WANK!!!

  • he didn't have to die..just didn't like this shit world

  • He would have spent the rest of his life in prison anyway.

  • it's nancy's fault. stupid heroin xD

  • fuck,fuck,fucking class,

  • goose bumps.... just quality

  • sid is a legend

  • fucking right. he did it his way to the end.

  • he's incredible sexy... too bad he had to die...

  • it took over seven months to shoot this video. either sid wouldn't show up to rehersal or when he did he'd be so fucked up from all the heroin he'd pass out. they even called in three different bands for the shoot because sid wouldn't play with many of the band members. this video was the last thing he ever did before he OD

  • You know...you CAN be a musical genius *without* O.D.ing.

    Just a thought

  • you fail.

  • So you have to O.D. to be one? :/

  • HOLY SH**!!!

    Is he drunk?!

  • he was drunk when he recorded the song, but i'm not sure if he was during the video, that was just his punk attitude :)

  • Sid vive ma il punk(quello vero)è morto

  • awesome sid vicious!

    RIP

  • Thank you

  • why does he have string tied around his leg?

  • He shot up back stage.

  • What do you mean?

  • White Lotus. Yam-yam. Shanghai Sally

  • he means he was on smack

  • Heroin!

  • Great, nice video. Keep up the good work!
