And he tells Floyd he has to run away, but they dont got to much fuel in any ship so they use the fuel they got left in the Discovery make the first movement. And HAL wasnt trying to kill Dave; the one try it tried to do that was because confusing orders that came from the White House, at least in the movie.

@DamnQuilty That all happened in 2010, You'd have to see the movie that came before 2010, 2001 a Space Odyssey to understand what I'm saying. Lol, in that movie HAL was NOT as co-operative as he was in 2010.

@iWelshyKID Yes, I know that. I watched that film. And yes, HAL killed almost all the crew members except for Dave. And the explanation of this is given in 2010, and is that the machine has recive orders to lie and cant do that so it easier to erase the problem. I think theres also a bit of paranoia, in the book, about how the others will react when they find out that it was keeping the real nature of the mission as a secret. But nothing to do with aliens. At least not that malfunction problem.

The evolution of Dave to a starchild, the destruction of Jupiter, the destruction of the Discovery, the transformation of HAL in a incorporeal being; and setting both to watch over the Earth, and the lately attempt to destroy the world.. Yes, it makes a lot of sense, It could be others the one making the stuff, but it was because of them that happened. Yes, almost everything went according to their plans
