Black Seeds on Virgin Soil - Old Mans Child

Holy fuck this song is cool! Unfortunately, while the instrumentals are great, the only black metal vocals I find really good are John Nodtveidt's. Can someone lead me in the direction of some other great black metal with vocal qualities similar to John's? I know he's hard to beat. Thanks.

He is good, on Storm of the Light's Bane i find him similar to Shagrath in some ways. Apart from that I can't think of anyone. Have you heard much Old Man's Child then??

Not really. I guess I'm rather biased as Dissection is really the only Black Metal I listen to. What are some other greats I should know?

Get hold of In Defiance of Existence by Old Man's Child, I don't think you'll be disappointed. Some of Borknagar's later stuff is good too, it has Vortex from Dimmu singing clean vocals, which I like very much hah. I listen to more death metal than black though so I'm probably not the best person to ask! Cheers though.

On the chords at the beginning, make sure that you are on the beat. Otherwise, very good, and you were probably tired at the end...

The thing you could do to improve most would be to learn the drum part :D

Practice alternate picking and string skipping really fast! There's no easy way round it, one of the first songs i learnt was Alice in Hell by Annihilator which has a very similar riff in it. Just practice!
