This is in Singapore. Paintball is just growing and the government imposes strict restrictions even on non e-markers. It's gonna take tonnes of time for it to become more mainstream like in the US or Europe (or even Malaysia, a next door neighbour).

Any injuries would hinder the progress that the R7s have made in making Paintball a more acceptable sport so ya, Chest Protectors for rec. players and 98 customs doesn't seem too bad. To them e-markers are non-existent :).

Hey if you want to make it your lifestyle invest in high end electro's and getting a team. Tournaments are the only way to make anything out of it.
