Cash's cover was really good. of course but really all covers of this are good. I've so far heard this, the one by Cash and I've NIN version and theyve all been good. especially this one.
You can't beat Cash's version. You just can't. I've never heard a cover (not just of NIN, of any song) better than Cash's version of Hurt, and I don't even like much of his other stuff.
i'm the exact same way. no one throw anything at me, but honestly i'm not a very big fan of johnny cash. he seems a bit too...i dunno, country for my tastes. but his cover of "hurt" blew my freakin' mind. he's a good musician, he really is. this is a pretty good cover too, but i think that johnny cash did it best as well
I have to say I like NINs version the most...i watched a live version of it...and it blew me away..I don't think anyone could've showed more emotion in this song than Trent Reznor.
he's got a good voice, but the guitar is much worse than the original. the notes are different, and this version doesn't sound as good as the original Trent Reznor wrote
will then I think you should go ahead and listen to that one more time... His voice is so intense.. If you dont get moved by both versions, Cash and NINs, you are numb..
What the Hell !!! Cash's version is gut wrenching.... baritone voice, old and dying, full of life's knowledge, been there and done that .... it was golden.
hopefully aaron lewis will write a good song again one day. staind hasn t done much worth listening to recently . actually on second thought, he should put out an album of acoustic covers. all the covers ive heard from him are always awesome.
I love this man's voice, always have always will. Not big on Chapter V but everything else I couldn't live without. Love Staind. Love this song. Excellent combo.
I've actually just found out 5 minutes ago that Aaron Lewis covered so many other songs in his live performances. He actually does a very good job of showing off his range (especially in What's Up and Patience), but I think this is his weakest cover; the chords are wrong and the arpeggiations don't work.
To anyone w negatives about this guy--I would implore you to find a better all around musician. He's pretty damn great and I'm still not sure where all the talentless jackasses get off being so critical. Fuck 'em
you need to listen to the original! Always listen to the original version before making your mind up! And to that person who was going on about NickleCrack.... they SUCK!!!
I assume you mean nickleback? Yes, they do indeed suck very much. I turrented a CD and deleted after one listen. I can not stand rockstar. I just turn off the radio whenever play that crap.
a lew is a great vocalist, and staind is a great band, but honestly hes not good enough on guitar to pull these covers off alone, he makes way too many mistakes. especially when he arpeggiates. Nice vid though, i always like seeing radio bits things like this.
I heard him make one mistake, but that was only once on "Excess Baggage," but he cursed during the middle of the song and made it that much more enjoyable...but I definitely think he's one of the more innovative and talented musicians of this generation...with or without Staind (preferably with).
one successful record? staind has 3 succesful records. shitty cover do u think that because it is acoustic, and more to johnny cashs version, aaron lewis is not a disgrace, he is a true musician all it takes is him and an acoustic guitar to sell out theaters across the nation, what have u ever done
thanks for the nice comment, i have a lot of various videos from staind to sevendust to three days grace to rocking dopsie. check out rocking dopsie, he does crazy zydeco, he's the shit. His band has one 7 grammies and he tours everywhere. Played with James Brown, For bill clinton, huch hefner, i couldn't begin to list them. anyway, thanks for watching!!
When your cover songs of other artists, your putting yourself out there to be judged, good or bad. Especially when the original piece can be used as the benchmark for comparison. If this were a staind song, criticism would be far less. Unfortunately, Lewis continues to mail in these brutal covers show after show and charge money for it.
yes he does it because that's what the fans want. We love to hear his take on the covers, his awesome voice singing those awesome songs. I'm just saying i put these videos up for people who will appreciate it and i want the nasty comments left off of here, i will not be approving them anymore so whatever. Aaron is as AWESOME singer and songwriter and what he does to these songs is amazing
I put my videos up for the people who will appreciate them. If you don't like it keep it to yourself because the video isn't here for you. If you don't like aaron lewis or staind don't fucking watch. I'm over this bullshit you fuckers post about my videos. Just don't watch if you don't like it.
you are all a bunch of fucking haters. i don't understand why you even watched it if you obviously don't like aaron lewis. fuck you all. i think this is fucking awesome and the rest of you suck!!!!!!!!!!!!
why you watch it if you obviously don't like aaron lewis? just don't watch my stuff. leave your nasty comments off of here. If you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all.
CPR is the best station ever. Aaron was here playing at the Hard Rock and decided to let some listeners come to the station to meet Aaron and get to hear a couple songs up close. I don't understand what a banner has to do with making a radio station credible. I know that they play the best music and put on some awesome concerts. Their DJ's are awesome. Credible enough for me. I don't understand why everyone is such an asshole on here.
when trent rezner heard the song HE was the one that said it shouldnt be called his song anymore, it should be called cash's, he says every time he hears cash coverin that song he feels as if its god talkin to him, the nin version rocks but nothin touches johnny's...nothin 2 spec here
i'm not disagreeing that trent said that, i am disagreeing with his statement "nothin 2 spec here" i think he's implying that there isn't anything special about aaron's performance of this song and i totally do not agree with his sentiment! :)
me? dumb dumb? UMMM no, that would be you. Hurt is on NIN's album 'The Downward Spriral' from 1994, the same one with Closer and March of the Pigs but you probably have no idea what I'm talking about. Johnny Cash covered the song on his 2002 album "American IV: The Man Comes Around" on which he covered lots of songs like Depeche Mode's Personal Jesus and The Eagles Desperado. Why don't you get your facts straight before you call people dumb dumb and make an ass out of yourself.
