Good to see fellow DSMers keeping there cars running right, and helping eachother. Let me know how the Rod Replacement Goes Brother, Hope it doesn't cost too much man.
Should address the CrankWalk problems while in the shop, I'm sure you did.

That's quite interesting calling crank walk a myth. The reason some of the 7 bolts had issues with crank walk was because the crank was machined a little to small to fit in the bearings properly. This is not an opinion, purely fact. It was solely a mistake in the machining. I do agree though, not chaning your oil on time or using totally cheap and shitty oil is the worst thing to do to your motor and bearings. Premature engine failure much...? :)
this thing has a space between the pistons and the cylinder wall...exhaust leak is another problem, but it shows smoke..hence the gap between piston and wall
do you notice performance loss? the sound could be part due to the exhaust leak on the right side of the manifold. I had the same sound coming from my 89 turbo probe and i pulled it off put a new gasket on and retorqued to spec and the sound went away. might/might not be the same issue.
crank walk is a 5 dollar bearing shooting through your 500 dollar crank your car most of the time wont start if it has crank walk it sounds like you have a bad rod bearing to me not that hard of a fix

I just bought a talon and it sounded just like that. it turned out to be a spun rod bearing.
