  • Very beautiful, outstanding!

  • The beginning was absolutely breathtaking! This is one of the best recordings I have heard of this song!

  • We have music majors in America that can't sing as well as these engineering majors in Indonesia. USA #1!

  • An excellent performance, perhaps the best i have heard. The entrance is perfect, no staggered voices. The dyanamics are also well handled, not too exaggerated. BRAVI!

  • Great sound, especially for a group of young engineers! (Spoken as a retired one!) I've never heard (or sung) such long lines. Like engineers, they have their staggered breathing down to a science. Excellent interpretation. It's really a joy when you have memorized the notes and can begin really making MUSIC. Gorgeous.

  • The start was excellent. Very soft and gentle. A reverent whisper to God.

  • Very well done!

  • This is a beautiful piece of music, but when the female voices are allowed to dominate, the effect is lessened.

  • holly shit... this is amazing

  • WOW! Very FRESH sound! Nice! Good job! :)

  • Amazing........

  • 4:14 is a perfect example of why choral music is badass. Also needs more bass.

  • Great job, wonderful musicality, THANK YOU!!

  • I adore this particular piece - it is so difficult to do, and these guys do a beautiful job with it!

  • Tough piece. Other than the pitch shift (happens a lot with all kinds of choirs), very well done. Lots of sound from a small group! Congrats!

  • A very hard peice. Requires so much listening.. Our concert choir is learning this now and I am so pumped :)

  • Tough piece always; decent job. But the pitch started dropping quickly, and you landed a half-tone lower from where you started.

  • 4:52 is perfection. I think that stillness I felt was the angels settling down to listen to this.

These musicians have been taught how to listen to each other. Marvelous, balanced sound. Well done all!!

  • Angelic, an absolute triumph

  • Wow! They sound absolutely beautiful! I sure hope they won! They are some of the best I've ever heard! Bravo!

  • My middle school sang this. 8D

  • Wow nice.. really angelic sound...

  • i can't hear the bass

  • good rendition of the song.... well done, mostly the basses, very strong

  • the accents/staccatos come out too much...i prefer it much more legato.

    good job though!

    Jessie clark middle school :D

we are almost done with it WHEE

  • i play this song in concert band at my school,

my teacher told me that it was originally

sang, and that the only words in the song are

"alleluia" , i wanted to hear it, so i searched it !

its really nice, great job !

  • absolutely beautiful! i sang this piece for mass at the vatican with a select ensemble a few years back...great piece.

  • glbkjlerbraagraaa! *pulling hair out*

This is so much fucking better than my dumb high school choir crap version. This makes us look like dinosaur shit.

  • This piece should be slower than that so much more!

This piece was written soon after the Nazi occupation of France when the future of the free world was in doubt. He was moved so by these events that when he was commissioned by Koussevitzky to write a festival fanfare peice for voices for the new Berkshire Music Center at Tanglewood he instead wrote this sad, plaintive prayer saying that a fanfare was not appropriate for the times

  • this is breathtaking. Oh my

    beautiful

  • Wow. Very very good! Our choir is doing this song this year, and I hope we can be like you guys! AMAZING!!

  • muito legal que deus abençoe a cada um de voces se poderam entrar em contato comigo e me passarem umas aulasde canto

  • that was wonderful! My school is trying to learn this song...y'all did it great justice!

  • AWESOME!!!! and yup breath taking....lol

  • Absolutely breathtaking! ^_^

  • this is great.

  • Superb....23 of the most beautiful voices and faces on this planet... Thank you from California...

  • We've just started on this song in my high school. It is absolutely amazing!

I could listen to it for days. :)

  • Yes it is Perfect Megan...lol

  • PERFECT EXECUTION!!!!! LOVE IT!! :)

  • Just beautiful. I did this song when I was in high school, and it brings back very fond memories.

  • what a bass what a tenor what a soprano what a alto!!! very good!! but i u have time try to hear Philippine Madrigal Singers Alleluia thoompson?? but still the choir did a very extra ordinary thing!! CONGRATULATIONS!

  • God bless you all!!! Carolyn

  • they make some of the funniest faces i have ever seen haha. but excellently done

  • Being a christian for many years I thought I had heard all the best christians songs but this tops them all. I thought I had gone to heaven, I have never been lifted up in sprit like this. Glory to God for these young filipino christians. God bless you all!!!

  • lovely! i love filipino voices

  • i think they're indonesian

  • hahaha At 4:25 the directors is doing the wu-tang

  • hahahahahahahaha sooo true

  • hi there Phileo Chorale! It is quite nice to hear you performing this piece! You may also want to try listening to the version of Philippine Madrigal Singers. Both of you did a great rendition of this song! Thank you!

Can I have a piece of this chorale piece if it would not render much of your effort? Thanks again!

  • This is absolutely beautiful! Very, very well done. This is such a handsome choir performing such a beautiful rendition of Randall Thompson's famous piece.

  • This is simply AWESOME! This choir literally sounds like 4 people! Such unity in the sound, especially the vowels, dynamics and cut offs! And I know this is not an easy song to sing well, although it's just one word you're singing! Randle Thompson is a GENIUS!!

  • like my chorus teacher said "you may look very stupid && dumb when you open your mouths and sing because of the vowels but you will def. sound beautiful!" && she was right, you guys are amazingg.

  • i have sang this with my school choir and we did it a lot faster than this but this is realy good!

  • What a great sound!

  • Yes. Yes. I have conducted this many times. The deliberate tempo at the beginning is needed so that when you get to the "call to arms" there is somewhere to go.

And, anyone here know the story of the piece?

  • This is what choral singing should be about. Here we have a group of engineering students clearly pursuing something else, yet there is a passion for excellence here. Bravo/brava for doing such excellent expressive work. More of the USA should be doing this... getting more folks involved who aren't music majors. Congrats!!! Great Director to instill passion and love of music for his group!

  • I sang this with my school choir, but we did it at a slightly faster tempo, and I must say, these guys sang it superbly but I prefer it at a faster tempo.

  • Great Diction to be foreign! Nice fluidness of the music, and great energy from the performers...I can feel it pouring from the screen! Excellent. I would have a little less soprano though to bring out the inner voices though.

  • THIS CHOIR IS AWESOME!!!

  • The choirs and the alumni of Lakewood (OH) High School used to sing this at the end of their annual Christmas concert. Unfortunately, shortly after I graduated in 1971 a new director chose to drop it because it was too difficult to teach. (sigh)

  • I think that the choir sounds excellent. great job. On a scale from 1-10

    i would give you a 9

  • great tone overall but the sopranos ruin it :(

  • This is exquisite, such sense of legato and purity of tone!

  • Absolutely beautiful piece, definitely a favorite of mine, outstanding performance!!!

  • This is so straight forward perfect...wow.

  • this is hard to get through without tearing up. I remember performing this my sophomore year 1985, Kenai Alaska Winter Concert

  • Very good

  • We sang this in my choir but we cut it because it was too difficult :S

  • Fantastic control. The conductor's interpretation is very consistent throughout. Excellent performance.

  • This is one of the most beautiful renditions I've heard of this, one of my favorite pieces to perform. Chokes me up every time I sing or hear it. I'm doing it this summer at the Berkshire Choralfest. I hope we can sound half as good!

  • bgus banget..:)

  • This chorale did a great job with this piece! Very impressive for such a small group

    Bravo

  • Thank you for reminding me what an inspired choral performance can be.

  • i absolutly loove this peice. we sang it at the mar's hill choral festival. there were about 300 of us. but i never thought it could be done so well with a small group. it gave me chills!!!

  • beautiful!

  • Excellent! Thank you!

  • Thank You All for Your Comment.

Thank You SURYO for posting this.

Watching this again...reminds me of God's Grace many years ago...(Yes..the tears is still and always there)
