@foilseal You poor soul you. I am quite a bit older than you are. I'm sorry, I meant to say, mentally challenged. Actually, I am a minister of the ULC church, and would like to help you with your problems. I have worked with the mentally challenged in the past. I know the many problems they have. God bless you.
@stussyboys Actually, since the water is holding the ship up all along it's length, there is no more stress on the middle than on the parts near the end.
However, one of the leading theories as to what happened is that, when the two waves struck the ship perpendicular to it's direction of travel, the ship wound up with its bow in one wave and its stern in the other and the middle section in the air between. NO ship is built to survive that kind of stress.
@EYEOFASERPENT Type in, "what caused the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" It shoud take you to the page. Or give me your address, because they won't let me put links in here.
@EYEOFASERPENT there is a storm blowing over the plains and michigan right now similar to the conditions November 10th,1975 that took down the edmond ftzgerald.
@foilseal Why do you keep leaving childish comments to me? I don't know you? What is your fucking problem? Are you retarded? If so, I forgive you, if not, eat shit and die you Mother fucking piece of SHIT.
@EYEOFASERPENT Dear Eye: The monument and building (lighthouse) in Whitefish Point, Michigan (Upper Peninsula of Michigan) has all that on display. It is thought that a porthole gave way under the crushing weight of the waves pounding the schit out of this ship. Once water came in, the increased weight could have sank it. Other opinions vary, including the boat cracked in. Nobody really knows. I think the water came in, and they b ecame too heavy to float.
Take a moment to remember the 29 men, lost 35 years ago today, when a Canadian submarine slammed 2 torpedoes into the side of the SS Edmond Fitzgerald , sending them into the shark-infested waters of Lake Superior. This occurred shortly after they delivered the A-Bomb to Detroit during the little known border skirmish between the US and Canada in 1975. You may recall that the Canadian propagandist Gordon Lightfoot was very successful in convincing the public the sinking was caused by a storm
2 massive waves in 25 foot seas took her,was not crew fault, she lays 17 nautical miles outside whitefish bay,in 557 feet of water..whitefishbay is ship wreak lane for real,i live and sail the great lakes i just wish folk would know the facts, even Gorden lightfoot changed his lyrics live as the truth is out now..i helped the historical museum of shipwrecks at whitefishbay get the truth..the history channel supposedly aired what we found in march of 2010,i dont watch T.V,crew be honored!

If you worked an ore carrier in the lake, you wouldn't say it was "nothing". There has been much controversy about whether or not the hatches had been left open and if the captain or crew were at fault. Their families don't think that it's "nothing".

@inextremus2 Hey buddy. This is my channel. I would adamently suggest you don't threaten my Son on my channel. Anyone comes near my son at any show WE are doing, will have to go through me. Understood. I hope so.
@bigoutlaw1 This is the version done with the one dollar mic. In a studio, I'd be singing to the sound track. The sound engineer would mix it to my satisfaction. That not being the case here. But thank you for listening. Try the new version. It's the best a poor person can do these days. Sorry you didn't like it.
@TheEntertainmentguro With a hundred and thirty three thousand hits, I hardly think so. However, if you knew how to use this program, it tells you where to go and hear the studio version. If you have any further stupid comments, keep them to yourself.
You Sir have done a fine job of catching the spirit of Gordon Lightfoot's masterpiece & this comes shining through, cheap mic & all.
One aspect of the (original) song that I love is the rolling drawl of the lyrics, slowing down, speeding up & then hanging to emphasize. In this sense I've seen countless performers attempt to catch Lightfoot's spirit, the majority have failed - however your rendition is bang on flawless.
Thank you very much atrumira, you are too kind. I very much appreciate your support. It means a great deal to me. This song has more hits than any of my originals. Thank you again.
It is a one dollar mic. All I can afford. I am a professional musician. I put my music out there for people to hear. I'm not making any money doing this. If you don't like it, you're one out of 96,924 people. Your opinion is not required.
This is a good version! If you can listen past the cheap mic, you can actually hear that you know what your doing. Good job. inextremus, if you don't like it, there is no need to comment on it, or listen to it for that matter.
@josephcormier Try to find a mic, I love the song, your guitar, and voice is great! I don't see how someone couldn't like this recording. I want to hear you with a good version. My dad also plays guitar, im going to tell him to record this song. You should look at some of his stuff. 9jaxsavage9, Gallows pole and Pigs on the Wing are his best songs.
Every port town in every nation has a tribute to sailors lost at sea. I always try to find them. One captain went into the storm that night to look for the Fitz to possibly rescue the crew. He simply said that someone had to go. The heroes in the Coast Guard will go into all but the worse storms to search for survivors. The CG have a saying about flying and sailing into storms that relate how dangerous it can be "You have to go-but you don't have to come back".
basically the fitz, a cargo ship in the great lakes sank on November 10,1975 after being damaged by a severe storm, taking the lives of all 29 crew, it sunk only about 15 miles from the safe haven of whitefish point. Nobody is exactly sure why or how it sank, but it is a very sad occurence and a signifigent part of american history
If you go to the Great Lakes Shipwreck Society's website, you can learn a lot about the "Big Fitz" including some of the dive footage done on her including the recovery of the ship's bell.
@beertits4me Wrong, Lake superior is definitely Michigan, Upper Pennisula. The great U.P. This song and shipwreck means a lot to us Uppers. One of the guys was from Tamrack City according to history. I personallly do not know the person. But the date Nov. 10th means something to us up here in the glorious U.P. Thank you Gordon Lightfoot for the song.
i agree, it is very sad what happened that day, if only they would've made it 15 more miles, 29 lives would have been saved. it is very sad that some still had their whole lives ahead of them, the youngest was only 20. very very sad.

its so obvious that the ship was too long the stress in the centre of that boat must have been enourmous its a design flaw for sure
