Completely at a tangent. The wheels are stationary when touching down, would it make a difference if they were spooled up to ground speed just before landing with a hub mounted electric motor? Or could they have an effect in mid air acting as a couple of gyroscopes.
i would trade my truck and trailer and company to make a carere of being a fire bommer ive flown solo already what would i need to do to become a firefighter pilot and possibly have my own plane?
how much do these pilots get paid???...by the load???...who pays them???...can i buy a water bomber and just show up to a fire???...btw...my hats off to these guys...i was on a helo crew and i have a general disdain for fixed wing pricks...but these guys do have skillz.
It was a small camera that they placed in several locations on the airplane, then spliced the shots together to make the video. If I were smarter, we would find a way to jaz it up a little with some pumped up music!
The "blowhole" is actually a big vent to relieve the negative pressure that developes in the hopper as the door comes open to drop the hydromulch. As to the negative attitude towards "erosion control" what you see here is not really erosion control but an effort to keep ash from running into pristine Lake Tahoe. It was successful, as were the other six large projects of this type that I have been a part of. Have a nice day.
That's a vent with a weak spring. When the big door comes open to release the load of mulch, that vent opens to relieve the negative pressure in the hopper. This one had a weak spring and didn't stay closed during cruise.
We liked flying with you guys as well. Very professional and safe. We all hated to hear about the mid-air that occurred a few days after we left. I think that I can speak for all of the Aero Tech pilots in saying that that was our biggest concern while we were flying out of Corona.
these guys came down to SoCal last year as well. They flew out of the corona airport...it was pretty awesome to watch them work and share the airspace with them

fighting erosion is an exercise in futility.

@jjjazzycraig That shows how much you DON'T know about farming, agriculture, and erosion control.

That was definitely a sad event. The 2nd one at that airport. The airport is still busier than ever on weekends. Happy Flying!

This is a great group of people helping others after the fire. Great flying and video taping. Love the music with action parts on the plane.
