  • Surely took alot of work no matter the level of talent.

  • It is called Last Minute Waltz, nevermind

  • What is the second song? it is fucking awesome

  • Unreal technique. Would put a lot of metal "shredders" to shame hahah

  • His Jazz stuff is killer

  • @Mrjls100

It's easy to get caught up in watching him and think he got some lucky brains to play like this. A guy like Brent Mason spent hours upon hours every single day for years studying and practising to get to this level.

  • @CamHawesMusic011 Not really!!! Granted he spent time with the guitar but some people are gifted!!! Thats okay!!! It leaves room for people like us!!! aAnd he really really spent time with the guitar!!! He just figured it out quicker than you or I !!! Think about it!!!!!!!! OH yeah!!!!!!

  • Anybody knows what´s the first tune's name?

  • @alefenili The first tune is called "Hot Wired".

  • having the right info and 8 hours of practice and playing everyday , thats how you get there. He didnt work at burger King and practice on the weekends, you have to make it your life.

  • holy shit, that boy sold his soul to the devil guys, thats how he got that good......

  • If you wanna know the secret to Brents playing? Pay close attention to how he phrases. Listen to his dymamics with each individual phrase. He speaks. He doesn't play notes. That is why he is so untouchable. It just so happens he has a guitar in his hands.

  • Brent Mason is one of the best & most impressive musician out there today !!

    A top notch instructor

  • can some one give me a list of guitar players and songs of this style ? i want to hear more and learn to play like this ?? please ,

  • does anybody know which tune the second one is? i dont recognize it

  • awesome

  • Brent is the best but that is some seriously great rhythm playing by Randy. Both just bloody awesome players and from all accounts all-around good guys. Does my heart good to watch these two play.

  • Not only is he playing nice riffs. He has an awesome tone on the axe. Sounds like a blend between a Fender and Gibson. Isn't that how those Valley Arts are supposed to sound? Pretty daggone sweet in my opinon. Coming from a half ass guitarist, it makes my Strat sound like crap. Of course, the fingers have lot to do with it too. I love all kinds of stuff, metal, country, jazz, but Brent is the man. Smooth finger work is the key. Brent is the man.

  • FUCK YEAAA!!!! Never heard someone with so much understanding for the guitar and just when you think it cant get any better..DAMN ..God blessed you

  • whats the second piece called?

  • @joesatriani1200rulez I don't know why, but for some reason, to me it reminds me of Daughters by John Mayer. I know it's probably not meant to be that, but it just reminds me of it.

  • SupeeeeeeeeeeR!!!!

  • Brent is great, but its so funny to watch this, cause he's playing so many Danny Gatton riffs, and he even remarks between tunes "Somethin' like that". Thats exactly what Danny would always say after playing a tune like that.

  • Up until 2 months ago I had no idea how much talent there is in the country guitar world.

One day I had a quick look for some licks and I have been obsessed ever since...lol

  • @IamtheActionman I am the exact same way. This guy and Brad Paisley have impressed me a lot. I still need to get Brent's How Wired album but Brad's Play album has Brent and a lot of other great guys on it shreding it country style.

  • @IamtheActionman: Ever hear the old 1960s "Lovin Spoonful" song "Nashville Cats"? The song is about those guys - million-selling artists - being blown away by the guitar players in Music City. You ain't the first to be blown away by these guys, and you probably won't be the last.

  • what's the tune he starts at 2:59? so beautiful. is there a recording of it??

  • ah sorry got it "Last Minute Walz" ! brilliant

  • I had a chance to demo one of these BMason VArts...wow...fantastic guitar...maybe the nicest guitar I've ever played.

  • such badassness.....NONE BETTER....simply amazing

  • Good god, this man is the KING. I wish that every time I heard someone say they "LIKE EVERYONE BUT COUNTRY" or how much they hate the genre I could shove this video right up their ass. This is as dirty as it gets.

  • @yagamei

Dude! I saw the Hellecasters in Portland, OR in Jan., '09 at the Alladin Theater... I still feel the same way about "non-Country" assholes who think they're musicians... I recently turned a Segovia-fan friend onto Brent & he about shit. Seriously... it's all about the music, not the "pop" stigmata.

    Peace! & keep pickin'! Chazz.

  • @czzham: Eddie Van Halen once got asked how his show was at NAMM, and he said, "Oh, you mean the Albert Lee show?" I guess he'd had to play next to Albert Lee, and got his eyes opened.

  • @GeorgiaBoy1961

yeah its true, and Brent is no slouch , but Albert Lee played all of these burning country riffs 20 years ago!

  • i feel the same

  • Awesome playing, but that guitar is a horrible colour...

  • i HATE the camera man!

freaking moves away from brent right at 5:41

  • I know man what a bentshot!

  • Is that second song a jazz standard or something? Does anyone know the title of it? I love it!

  • Last Minute Waltz from the Smokin' Section album by Brent and Randy Mason.

  • This dude is "THe Dude" Damn! What a picker.......

  • I know. I love his tone.

  • The design of the guitar (read the specs) gives it a hybrid sound (Fender and Gibson). Sweet tone.

  • Brent Mason can play enything he wants, and his brother fits in very nice. The sound of Brents signatur guitar is amasing, outstanding musicans.

     Erik Gabriel

  • aint he something.

  • Question: Does anyone know what type of amp Mr. Mason is playing through in this video? Awesome!

  • I think you are looking at one of the early Blues Custom amps that Epiphone ran in 2006,

Either that or, and it is far more likely, he had them create an amp for his use according to his specs.

  • it's an epiphone, which is frankly not a very good amp. He probably uses some vintage Fender blackfaces for his clean sounds at home and in the studio I'd reckon.

  • Whooooooooooooooooohhhhhoooooo!!!!!!! "Fweet , Fweet"!!!!!!!

  • really love the jazz piece.best tone ever and im a rocker lol.cant fault this guy .wish i had his talent and finesse in all styles

  • I love the old blues players (KIng, Guy, and especially Hendrix), metal (Van Halen, Rhoades) all awesome in their on right, but this guy is in a league of his own. Nice sweet sound on his axe and he can play anything he wants, especially like his country licks. Brent rules!

  • one of the best guitar players I have ever heard

  • yeeeaah

    I realy enjoy it !

  • wow ! is very good !! thanks !

  • Ok let's hear you play it then

  • Comment removed

  • Lets not forget about Randy's awesome playing, He hold down a solid rhythum here... Perfectly complimenting the lead.

  • that's a great point...he's really holdin it down with some great rhythm playin...

  • Beats all I've ever seen......makes me want to sell my Tele and all band gear... AMAZING.....Thanks Brent for showing us how it should be done.

  • Absolutely Positively my favorite guitar player! Brent, you're an inspiration!

  • Simply the best.

  • Curse you, Brent Mason!!! The whole reason I took up guitar recently was because of him, and he's making me look really, REALLY bad! Perhaps I'll just stick to keyboards.

  • All this music with only 2 GUITARS!!!! amazing..

  • Don't have to have a band to sound good. Good rhythm makes it all. Brent is awsome and so is his bro.

  • u're right bro

  • There are changes so there would be quite a few scales.

  • Wow! Brent Mason Is awesome. I just can't get all these chords he's doing. They look hard. Any help? or what scale he is using? I know it's part minor.

  • a nice guy and a great musician

  • grea music

  • beautiful!!!!!

    Joey Lodes

  • What thumb picks does Brent use? I can never seem to find one that fits right. I feel like my hand is too far from from the strings when I use one. Brent's seems to have a shorter pick bit.

  • could just be wear on tear on that one he's using...

  • yea man i had the problem, i just ended up taking some sand paper and filing mine down were it felt comfortable, maybe try that.

  • It is shorter, he gets his accesories from Planet Waves, try them...

  • The second song is hauntigly beautiful!

  • He's a great player, but Scotty Anderson is unbelievable.

  • I would have to say for a live performance, this is awesome. Many people don't realize how many studio takes even the best have to do endure to get perfection in a recording. I have been playing for over 40 years and would settle for a 1/4 of his talent on one of his bad days. Rock guitar is my favorite over all (Rhoads, Van Halen, etc.); but Brent is the best all around. The man can play anything he wants. His guitar has notes mine don't have (lol). Great jam by both guys!!!!!!!

  • The best artists only make first take Albums. Tommy Emmanuel, Joscho Stephan are typical first takers.

  • Brent represent all that I want as a guitarist. He has a good sense of improvisation, a good technique, a clean playing, a great sound and a very good melodic sense.

  • His ear for melody and when to play less or more is so great to watch (and hear!). There's so much to learn in every single song he plays. A huge vocabulary.

  • I think I'll just give up the guitar now then...

  • uh, yeah... me too

  • me too ! Damn

  • How 'bout some kudos for the rhythm man? Pretty great for a guy who makes his living playing drums and singing! Check out their album, "Smoking Section"!

  • awesome - what this vid showed me is that iven Brent doesnt play perfect every note (dont get me wrong - he's my favorite guitarist and I love the way he sounds) , but this just showed me that we're all humans and its not too hopless for me - haha :)

  • well said! heh :)

  • Best country guitarist!

  • how about the hilbert ?

  • Havent heard of..

gonna chech em' out, thanks :)

  • This is fantastic, along with Swing with a Sting on part One, Hot Wired are my fav two Brent Mason songs, GO BRENT!!!!

  • Man those country licks were scorching. I'm gonna have to lay my strat down and buy a tele.
