When I first heard this song on the radio, I was thinking to myself, "Hmm, another Willie Nelson song." Then when Kris, Waylon, and Johnny Cash joined in, I sat up and took notice. Four of the biggest names in Country Music united! Well, it's been over 25 years since then, so I wonder whether or not something like that could happen again, and if it does - which singers will it be?
Epic Song. It basically shows the American heroes of history and the different romantic ages of the USA and how they will never be forgotten. The civil war era outlaws, the american sailors who sailed around the world, the dam builders who worked in harsh conditions and the pilots who flyed the planes and spacecraft and thereby raised the standard for us all. My hats off to all of them.
I'm glad I actually got to see them in concert in Worcester, MA. Best concert I ever attended!!! No opening act, just these 4 with there backup bands performing their own singles plus songs from The Highwayman album.
New country looks really homo...look at their clothes and hair cuts these days. I think Brokeback Mountain screwed the country scene all up ...sure hope you guys figure it out soon and get back to real country not this metro bullshit!
@DIJV79 MONEY!!!!!!!! i don't blame em. you gotta just realize the good shit came earlier and todays shit is shit and let it be. at least you know the difference, right?
This is a great song. Growing up, I didn't care for Country music until I was re-intorduced to Country by my Ex-Wife's Dad. I like all kinds of music (except hip-hop and rap) but Country is becoming my favorite again. I like a lot of the older classics as well as the new stuff, but no one stacks up to Johnny Cash, Waylon, or Willie Nelson
This is real music yall ,true American music, Outlaw country! You dont like it then get your little butt right out of this country im a TEXAN!I think this is the best music ever!
I played the hell out of this song on my computer cause i got a good sound system setup and when i hop in my truck its barely started on the radio then I busted a speaker in my truck cause i thought it would sound the same...
When the bullets stopped flying and the smoke cleared there was Willie with his guitar singing and plucking again and again and again and again........
I wonder if those pilots play music when they're screaming through the skies? I wouldn't be surprised; HA! Could you just imagine if they were listening to "Purple Haze"? Don't be uptight Pilots.
They are some of the best ever and will remain and always come back around again and again thats why its said with a smile, because it's legendary!!!!!!!!!
They might've caught poor Willie Nelson at the scene of the crime...as he picked up the numerous gold coins he tossed up into the air and onto the floor...
@vSHADOWVIPERv There is still some good country out there, just not played on the "country" stations that are owned and ran by the same people who run the "pop" stations and want cookie cutter musicians on all of it.
THEY WILL FOREVER BE THE OUTLAW ..under belly of "The Quick over-night reality show" musicians...The Industry promotes....THE HIGHWAYMEN WERE AND ALWAYS WILL BE THE ONLY REAL ONES. show your kids and nieces, nephews, and sons...just like I do....:)
Except for Johnny Cash's involvement in this; and Willie Nelson's... and I guess Kris Kristofferson and Waylon Jenning's involvement too, this is a pretty wack video for a pretty tough song I have to say.
@Feydmep1 agreed. To mainstream 80's for this song. Id love to hear a stripped down version...but I can't think of a any male country singers today to do it justice.
You better comeback again Johnny because im getting sick of this sissy ass bullshit country music. If you dont come back again im going to dig your body up and beat the shit out of your skeleton.
I know this is the official video but that last part with the jet plane would be just so much better with the scene of Serenity doing the "Crazy Ivan"
How could ANYBODY not love this song ? I'm into metal, and have been my whole life, but this song is one of thee greatest songs ever, and performed by 4 of the greatest muscians ever.
@MsNika008 Their voices touch my soul too. I love the video. These guys were so good together. I just love all of them. I've seen Kris twice. Going to see him again this oct.
@ksucatinokc It really is surreal hearing cash sing that, saying he'll be back "again". Makes me feel... as though, I missed something very important, something, big that was lost when they died. I don't like this feeling.
When I was about 9 my daddy took me to see the highwaymen w/ June carter cash and Travis Tritt. live at chastain park amphitheater. Still the best concert I have ever been to.
