  • I've just watched a couple of your videos and they're all great.! Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I really appreciate it.

  • @jawarden2006 Thanks a lot! I appreciate you watching. Nancy

  • Great video! Thank you. I'm currently using a Dremel flex shaft and I plan to buy a Foredom within the next month or so. I am discouraged, however, by the chuck thing where you have to loosen all 3 sides. :( Changing bits with my Dremel flex shaft is much easier and doesn't require a key.

Could you tell me: Do the flex shafts come pre-oiled or do I need to do that when I get it? Thanks!

    Val~

  • @VCArtisanOriginals You can buy a Foredom SR jewellers kit with the quick change #20 handpiece for around $220 plus freight on ebay at the moment. It's a better deal than the one with the #30 chuck handpiece if you are always using a 3.32" collet. You can find a video review of that kit on youtube with the title 'Foredom Pendant Drill Kit and Accessories'. You can buy it in 115V and 230V versions

  • @XlouietheflyX Thank you for your reply. :) Rio currently has it for sale for only $10 more than the #30 handpiece kit. I think, though, that I will probably go with the #30 hand piece because at some point I may decide to buy a Koil Kutter and I don't think it will work with the quick change handpiece. Most of my metalsmithing friends do use the quick change handpiece though and their general consensus is to just get the quick change one. Thanks again! :)

  • @VCArtisanOriginals Hi Val, Flex shafts are pre-oiled. But, you need to do your maintenance when you hit the magic number of hours. You can purchase a collet set for the flexshaft. Some of the handpieces come with collet's too - just like the Dremel. You should know that I didn't mind the chuck key thing until I bought the quick change handpiece! Got spoiled. Take care, Val. Nancy

  • @VCArtisanOriginals I have a Foredom and only have to loosen one side.

  • Another awesome video. Great job, and thank you!

  • @SueLacyDesigns Thanks Sue. Appreciate the comment - a lot!

  • belt sander wolf tools!!! where?

  • @trekranger Wish we could post web sites here. Rio Grande Jewelry sells them, just search for Wolf belt sander. Good luck. Hey, by the way, thanks for watching and being a fabulous subscriber! Nancy

  • hammer hand peace can it be used with flex shaft from harbor freight ?

  • @trekranger Yep.

  • hammer hand peace. Could i use it as an engraver ? where can i get one ?

  • @trekranger Not true engraving. Does diamond pavé, texturing and setting. Rio Grande Jewelry, Foredom and others sell them. Foredom sells a power engraver kit, which includes the whole flex shaft - also sets - for 524.00. Same one at Otto Frei - 2293 power graver -(on sale) for 389.00 (might get that one).Rio has a different one - 440.00. On the Foredom site I found another cool tool - an angle grinder attachment. Their site has lots of tools for the flex shaft. Have fun. Nancy

  • this is a great tutorial thanks!!

  • ..oh, and 'Crescent' is the brand name--the type is 'adjustable wrench', or as a friend of mine at a previous job jokingly called it, a 'Kentucky Fit-em-all"! (^_^)

  • @pheenix42 Thanks so much pheenix! I love the Kentucky Fit-em all but will NEVER remember that. Wrenchy poo often comes to mind instead. Adjustable wrench, adjustable wrench, adjustable wrench - maybe if I repeat it enough it will stick. Thanks again - appreciate the help. Nancy

  • Wow, that's an old-school Dremel...! How old is that thing? I imagine finding brushes for that critter is interesting!

  • @pheenix42 I have no idea how old it is. Probably at least 15 years old. I never change the brushes because I never use it. It's only for show and tell! Hah. I had a newer one but my son stole it from me. Can't trust them chillin'. Thanks for the shout out. Nancy

  • Again thanks for your valueable information and I too will visit Harbor Freight and Rio Grande. I do see where Rio has a whole package them offer, but again like you say I will do my home work. Thanks Nancy.

  • @MultiJewelryLady Fabulous. Have fun shopping - don't break the bank. Homework is a very good thing. Funny, it's not as boring as it was in school. Hmmm.... Thanks. Nancy

  • Good tip on the bristle discs! I hadn't heard of them. I'm thinkin' when ya wear your mask, you should take magic marker and draw a smile on it...This is one of my favorite videos. Harbor Freight, here I come...

  • @strube1369 Hey you, I like the magic marker idea ALOT! I could also wear one on my head and draw a picture of a working brain on it! Did you like how I suggested that you insert the chuck key into a saw blade? What happened to the brain-mouth connection there??? Glad you liked the video. More to come. Thanks as always. You're still my favorite subscriber. Nancy
