Had my first day as a Sab today. The hunters had a fucking nightmare and couldn't even hunt due to our presence and interference, so after a few hours of attempting, packed up and went home.

Fox hunting isn't always as bad as people make it seem. On the few occasions my friend invited me to go with her, we never actually killed the fox. (Even if we managed to find one, the dogs would get scared of it after a while) Overall, not a huge amount of foxes are killed by fox hunting, and it seems like a waste of time to get too worked up about it.
dont pretend you do it for any other reason than snobbery, social climbing and violence. I'm from the netherlands, and most of us think fox hunting is cruel. And about the vermin part: you can easely protect your livestock agains foxes these days, so thats nonsence too. About the social part you metioned: you can hang out with friends or go to a pub for that. But, maby you have no friends... And if abusing a fox is a fun social event for you, then beating you up with friends would be a social event too.

I personally think its cruel and this is why. The fox is chased until it is totally exhausted and cannot run no more. Sometimes it see an escape hole to find it blocked of covered up so the Fox actually gets cheated out of a possible escape. In the end, totally exhausted it is ripped apart by hounds. The hunters can claim otherwise, but I know that despite a ban being in place foxes are still being chased and killed by hounds.

I don't think fox hunting should be banned. I went on a hunt with my friend and it was possibly the scariest thing i've ever done. I'm not one for jumping over huge hedges whilst being boxed in by about 20 horses.

I hear what you saying but when hunting with dogs the fox is either caught or gets away, when shooting agreed bang and it's dead, but there is an increasing amount of people picking up guns who are not competent shots. The fact is, they are only *vermin* by people who justify it is ok to hunt foxes in this way. Suppose it was a dog killing the livestock? It is easy to just shoot the dog because it comes back home. But, suppose it was a dog that did it, would you set hounds upon it to hunt it down the same as the fox?
I've spent a long time reading about fox hunting because i personally find it fascinating. hunting with hounds is the most natural way for any animal to die, because it's 100% natural. if the fox is fit...it gets away. if it's pregnant or has kits at home...it leaves less scent for the hounds to follow. and when the hounds do occasionally kill, it's quick because it's what canines have been doing for thousands of years. i say support hunting 100%...even foxes do it!

Has anyone but the hunters present seen a rabbit being played with by foxes fighting over which one would eat it?I have. The rabbit was squealing & thrashing around because it wasn't killed humanely as it more likely would have been by a human out hunting that day.It took several minutes for it to stop squealing & longer to stop thrashing around,as it was eaten.

The raccoons were trapped & the dogs were given free rein to go after the cats but the hawks cannot be touched.Still,their third flock has survived longer than the other two did.THAT is one reason why we hunt.To reduce predation on domestic animals.
i've seen a friendley version of this they put a person with dog food in their hand, give them about 1/2 to 45mins head sart to run all over the woods, and then hide somewhere or continue to run, the dogs still chase the person but don't kill them (obviously) and that way there is a chase but no animal goes and gets hurt!

Can i just say farmers livestock gets killed because you can easily fox proof fields and pens etc, but no that can't be done because that would mean work and money :|, so they kill them instead. They gallop about on ground that is far too wet, the canter on the road, the gallop through yards where children could be riding, the hounds run in and out of our stables when they pass through, the horses get injured from stupid risks, sociable rides? @lsdt01 foxes are wild animals, more children are killed by dogs and we keep them in our homes, There are some sick people out there who would do much more harm than a fox would, I live in the countryside and I see foxes all the time, Their more scared of you than you are of them , I've seen them walk through peoples gardens , just passing through, they don't attack children for no reason, If they did It wouldnt do much damage and would be for a very good reason like protecting there cubs.

Ratting with terriers will never be banned because rats are not cute cuddly postcard animals like foxes so rats are not worthy of being saved. Fox hunting isn't always as bad as people make it seem. On the few occasions my friend invited me to go with her, we never actually killed the fox. (Even if we managed to find one, the dogs would get scared of it after a while) Overall, not a huge amount of foxes are killed by fox hunting, and it seems like a waste of time to get too worked up about it.

I'm from the netherlands, and most of us think fox hunting is cruel. And about the vermin part: you can easely protect your livestock agains foxes these days, so thats nonsence too. About the social part you metioned: you can hang out with friends or go to a pub for that. But, maby you have no friends... I personally think its cruel and this is why. The fox is chased until it is totally exhausted and cannot run no more. Sometimes it see an escape hole to find it blocked of covered up so the Fox actually gets cheated out of a possible escape. In the end, totally exhausted it is ripped apart by hounds. The hunters can claim otherwise, but I know that despite a ban being in place foxes are still being chased and killed by hounds.

I don't think fox hunting should be banned. I went on a hunt with my friend and it was possibly the scariest thing i've ever done. I'm not one for jumping over huge hedges whilst being boxed in by about 20 horses.

I've spent a long time reading about fox hunting because i personally find it fascinating. hunting with hounds is the most natural way for any animal to die, because it's 100% natural. if the fox is fit...it gets away. if it's pregnant or has kits at home...it leaves less scent for the hounds to follow. and when the hounds do occasionally kill, it's quick because it's what canines have been doing for thousands of years. i say support hunting 100%...even foxes do it!

Has anyone but the hunters present seen a rabbit being played with by foxes fighting over which one would eat it?I have. The rabbit was squealing & thrashing around because it wasn't killed humanely as it more likely would have been by a human out hunting that day.It took several minutes for it to stop squealing & longer to stop thrashing around,as it was eaten.

The raccoons were trapped & the dogs were given free rein to go after the cats but the hawks cannot be touched.Still,their third flock has survived longer than the other two did.THAT is one reason why we hunt.To reduce predation on domestic animals.

i've seen a friendley version of this they put a person with dog food in their hand, give them about 1/2 to 45mins head sart to run all over the woods, and then hide somewhere or continue to run, the dogs still chase the person but don't kill them (obviously) and that way there is a chase but no animal goes and gets hurt!

Put it this way. No hunting means a big percentage of the hounds will be killed as they have no use, horses will be put out of work and illnesses will get around nature quicker. Usually the hunt only catch ill and old foxes as young is to quick. People who have not been hunting have no idea. So lets stop being silly and bring hunting back.. I enjoy a days out Hunting time too time, it's not all about the killing of the fox, i love it when you meet new people, meet up with friends, get too ride across the country side with your horse.Yeah when the chase is on and the hounds have found a sent it gets exciting. and if you are reckless out hunting and your horse gets hurt you always treat them afterwards, but the horses love a good old Gallop. Banning foxhunting in england? its one of the oldest and greatest traditions that is still practiced there to date. Foxes are like any other animal...when left unchecked they will ravage the land, then eventually STARVE do to lack of food source...What is less humane; death by hound, or a week or more of a slow agonizing death due to starvation???If antis don't like what goes on in the countryside (hunting) then stay in the city..I don't like the city so i dont go there!!! almost makes since!

Can i just say farmers livestock gets killed because you can easily fox proof fields and pens etc, but no that can't be done because that would mean work and money :|, so they kill them instead. They gallop about on ground that is far too wet, the canter on the road, the gallop through yards where children could be riding, the hounds run in and out of our stables when they pass through, the horses get injured from stupid risks, sociable rides? You can do that minus the hounds, risks and death.

@lsdt01 foxes are wild animals, more children are killed by dogs and we keep them in our homes, There are some sick people out there who would do much more harm than a fox would, I live in the countryside and I see foxes all the time, Their more scared of you than you are of them , I've seen them walk through peoples gardens , just passing through, they don't attack children for no reason, If they did It wouldnt do much damage and would be for a very good reason like protecting there cubs.

Ratting with terriers will never be banned because rats are not cute cuddly postcard animals like foxes so rats are not worthy of being saved. Anti's are just hypocrites, they say that they want to save foxes but are happy to let landowners shoot them. And 80% of them probably go home and eat a roast dinner on a Sunday.
