It's really nice seeing this video of the parrot owner actually sounding nice towards the parrot while training...like I've seen loads of other videos and the owners are like 'do this, do that' in a mono-tone voice and the parrots don't really look too happy :/ But this is great! Good job! :D
What people dont seem to understand (mainly those that are complaining about this video being cruel or abusive to the parrot) is that beautiful birds like this LOVE TO LEARN! Parrots and indeed most tropical birds NEED the mental stimulation! They love to try new things and new experiences! If the bird didnt want to hop onto those skates it would let the owner know full well! Without this kind of stimulation and play time behavioural problems would occur along with plucking and an unhappy bird!
@SkinDeepTV You're right..I was trying to teach my Quaker parrot to play basket ball with a tiny ball and tiny basket, He was scared of the ball, he didnt wanted to play, I didn't want to force him to play it :)
@GhostKittyROBLOX Leave the ball within his eyesight, at least a 5 feet away from his cage and every day, pick it up and play with it where it is. Pretend to chew it, toss it, make fun noises & laugh and when your bird shows interest in what you have, make eye contact, say 'mine' then hide it from his view for a few seconds. Then put it down where you had it, laugh/giggle and walk away. Give it a few weeks then move the ball closer to his cage and repeat the process.
@GhostKittyROBLOX What your doing is multi-fold. First your letting him get used to the item at a non threatening distance (I see it there every day and it hasn't come to get me, I guess I can relax a bit.) Creating an interest (What are you doing with that thing? It scares me! It looks like your having fun... I want to see...)
I love Stewie, did you see how he looks at the camera and thinks "she has got to be kidding" just darling! I could tell where he was really trying to listen and understand you also.
That is sooo cute! Where in the world did you get skates for him? He really tries hard and I can tell he is very smart! I would love to have one like him.
when you put an animal video on youtube there's always going to be a person who finds it animal abuse or cruel -__- this is really cute, and if i saw her smashing the bird against the wall because he didn't skate then THAT'S cruel. People, get it straight, watch real cruelty, you'll see the difference...People treat bird more horribly than this.
Eh teaching an animal any trick just for entertainment is cruel IMHO. I have a parrot and a dog. Parrots knows how to say some words she picked up ("I love you" and "night night" and "what") but nothing we hammered into her head. Dog doesn't know any tricks, parrots doesn't know any tricks. They just be themselves and they entertain me with the silly things they naturally do. But you do seem to have a nice bond with your bird. And hey I guess if the bird didn't want to he wouldn't.
my bird dosent like to be on the floor around us i need to teach em not to be scard wen i saw this video i was like i wish my bird wold do this. dose eny one know how to teach African gray parrots to not be scard mine is only scard to be on the floor with some one not wen hes in his cage
@flyfangirl lol stfu its not fucking cruel, there are people out there that do unspeakable things to animals, and you think this is cruel? the bird is not suffering in anyway shape or form. to me the parot just looks unbothered almost humoring her in a way. i cant understand why you would even feel as if this is cruel, sorry but comments like this just annoy me sometimes...
Hahahah omg that was too cute!! I would love to teach my conure how to do that. Those rollerskates look like little wooden cars with handles on them! LOL Thanks for posting :)
I love this. My Eclectus (male) is smart but I have never tried to teach him to skate. This is a riot. He is really very good. He is in beautiful feather condition as well and that comes from the time spent with him teaching him tricks I am sure.
I love Eclectus parrots! my hen Lollipop says hello in heaps of high and low pitches. then she wolf whistles and then does the annoying phone ring that drives everyone mental. Cool bird
i have a ringneck who is super quick at picking up tricks (it only took a couple of session to get most of them down), and I was wondering how eclectus' compare? do they pick tricks up fairly quickly? i interested in getting one!
so adorable .. I noticed at the end you had a nickname for stew was it stew Ball ? LOL I have a nickname for my timneh well several one is Kanicki Pie which he now repeats all the time .. LOL I enjoyed !
i luv birds. only true bird lovers sit here for hours watchin how incredible otha birds are. sooo brainy. im copied alot of tricks off here. but i dont think mine r old enuff to learn sk8n..... so awsum!
You should put them on and show him....hahahaha, this was funny,
