As a human, opening our eyes or heart is based on trust. If someone "creams" us than it is much more difficult to be open to trust them. I agree with your statement. However, being raised in a religion does not determine that we would stay in that particular religion. I know buddhist who have converted to christianity. And I know christians who were raised in christianity becoming atheists, and or agnostics.
I think what you are implying is that maybe life could'nt have come about without the moon/sun. It's an interesting question, though I'm not sure how you will receive my response, due to it being based on what the Bible says. Look at my next comment, and I will try to explain my view on this.
According to scripture the earth came into full functioning order in 6 days, I'm not sure if that means 6 literal days or not, but the implication is clear, the earth and all that is in and around it came into being at a rate in which we can not imagine.
You see the key here is first for one to come to understand that not only does God exist but He is necessary.
It is God who "opens our eyes" and "softens our hearts" I cannot WILL you to believe, though I am a believer myself. I have absolutely no power over your mind. If this were so athiest would exist because everyone would know Christ.
So when you say "someone" touched believers or opened our eyes...you really could'nt be more correct. But it was no man, nor the result of anyone's limited intellect, it was God.
Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you... (John 15:16)
...If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. (John 15:19
if you were brought up in India you'd be a Hindu, thereby rendering both Christianity and Hinduism as nothing more than tradition and culture entirely based on geography. If you think you'd still be a christian if you were raised in india then you are quite clearly mad. And if you accept this then you accept that neither has any more validity than the other. You would belive in Hinduism with just as much enthusiasm.
off topic but explain to how god created plants on the third day and the sun/moon on the fourth?? fuck the philosophical religious questions. how bout you answer the scientific ones?
Many people in this wold are religious because they grew up that way. However this point does not disprove the existence of God but argues louder to the existence of God as so many people from different places and languages ALL seek after God and worship something. Where are the athiestic cultures? Certainly Christianity has not reached every tribe and village as the Bible promises that this will be done just prior to the return of Jesus Christ!
We had a visitor last week who was born in Sudan to a Muslim family. He is now a Christian minister. I see thousands of people who weren't born into Christian families who are now Christians, just like I know thousands born into Christian families who are no longer practicing Christians or actively anti-christian.
Your soul is eternal fool and your being is sacred. Why would you argue against that you dummy. I mean come on man wake up

You are probably right. I know you've heard it said..."there, but for the grace of God, go I"
This is not a very difficult concept, the Word is clear. If some are "chosen" then one may logically deduce that some are not chosen.
Now does that mean all non christians are doomed? Who am I to say. God said "I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy"

Why have you called this the 'Official' God debate network? Does the nonexistent God endorse it or something?

Yet, unless the bible was brought to the people who didnt know it, they dont have any bible concepts.
It ONLY exists as a belief when the belief is shown by an evangelist (or missionary or whatever).
My people, the Hawai'ians, had NO Jesus or Yaweh belief until the christians came with their love, flies, cold, flu, rules, and genocide
They believed in lots of gods, but none were the specific yaweh, which they would have HAD to if bible god belief were based on reality

exactly the point.

The point is, IF these things were real, these god ideas would spontaneously generate, all across the world, to all peoples, the same way.
