The Czechoslovakian army evaluated the AK47 and were not happy with it so they designed their own assault rifle. I would go as far as saying that the VZ 58 is a much better design than the AK 47. More accurate, less kick but equal in reliability. It's like you are saying that the M14 is similar to the FN FAL. Although the same weapons class and caliber, different design.

@Kevin32001 The round is the important thing and the czechs based it off the 47, however putting in better things for example removing the rotating bolt, making the bolt carrier stay open when the mag was empty, the ability to accept stripper clips, etc. It is not EXACTLY like an AK47, however they fire the same round and its a more improved AK47.

@LSNvideo There is a 5.56 model of the Vz 58 (or at least in Canada there is). Its made by CSA ( Czech Small Arms), and they look Identical to the 7.62 model. But the mags are straighter, and clear. I believe Wolverine Supplies brings them in.

@therandomgunguy Look at special forces groups when they enter buildings like the SAS they ONLY fire in 2-4 round busts keeps accuracy high and lets you adjust your aim faster if you just go Full auto you will probably end up missing your target and run out before you've dropped every target.
@therandomgunguy the rate of fire on a full auto cz58 is 800 rounds per min. for the ak47 is 600 rpm. The tilting breech lock on the cz is of linear motion for the bolt, thus a very simple straight bolt movement. The ak47 uses a rotating bolt which imposes a bit more friction and movement on the bolt which has to rotate into the trunnion in order to lock. This is what makes the 200 rpm difference between them. Compare that to most modern assault rifles. This makes this rifle quite impressive.
i hate AK series, but this one is really better, and i see than the internals have change and the rate of fire is better(i now, i dont need full auto but its great in every case)
all i can say about comment i posted about civilian cz858 tactical for canada is that it performes equivant to an FN C1A1 just not the kick , it has never jammed on me in like 2000 rounds so far , I love it it's my fun gun :D and is well worth the 700 bucks I have nothing but good to say about this weapon other then I love it

I see big arguments on this video about accuracy. From my experience with my AK variants and my CZ are as follows. The CZ outshoots all of my AK variants except the Polish WZ88 (which is in a different caliber) and my Hungarian SA 85 (which is the same caliber). But to be fair to my CZ, my Hungarian SA 85 is a freak of nature as far as my AK variants go as in it is ridiculously accurate! Not sure if it is a SA 85 thing or just mine but I am not complaining.
@int0x19 The stock bolt release isn't easy to use. There is a modified bolt release available that is reachable with a right hander's index finger. It would do what you're talking about.
I paid $515 for mine. It came with cleaning kit, sling (strap), and 2 mags. I've also spent a lot of money modifying it to my tastes (Muzzle Brake, Aluminum Handguards with Rails, and a Folding Stock). Here the accessories for the VZ.58 are more expensive than for an AK because they aren't as common.
Bottom line? I think I like my VZ more than my AK. I need to shoot both of them more to decide. : )
@daresdrop This rifle is not a heavy machine gun. The one in the video would be called an assualt rifle. The semi auto civilian model is called just that a Semi Auto Rifle. When you say Heavy Machinegun that is the same class of weapon that M2 .50 BMG and DShKs fall into. To answer your question though. In the US if you go through the proper process you can own Heavy Machineguns! Look up "Knob Creek Machinegun Shoot" and you will see citizen owned machineguns. God bless the United States!!!

@ImWatchinTheTube The price is comparable to one of the better AK's. I've seen them for as low as 550 buck, but usually more like 700 to 800.. No parts are interchangeable with the AK (except the 7.62x39 rounds) but the magazines are available for 20 to 30 bucks apiece.
These are great rifles. I fired one with open sights from a bench and it punched a 3" group. They are very well made. Of course the one I fired was not full auto.

Nové samozrejmne nejsou, vsechny jsou upravené z armádních zásob, ale jde o to co ta kosa mela za sebou. Sám sem videl 858 ale ne ze zbrojovky kde kvalita zpracování byla straná. Jedná se spís o první 858-ky co sly do prodeje
Puvodni vz. 58 jsou tak jako tak vyrobeny ve zbrojovce, takze jiny muze byt maximalne tak vyrobce prestavby na semi-auto, ale zpracovani zbrane jako celku je stejny.
Jedina vyjimka (krom vyrobcu receiveru v americe) jsou kousky co maji receiver od D-Techniku (Czech Small Arms), kde jsou sice ostatni dily puvodni, ale receiver je novovyroba. Nicmene ty jsou naopak o tridu kvalitnejsi nez original.
Takhle: kdyby do českýho zbrojního průmyslu a na modernizaci útočných pušek teklo poměrově tolik peněz jako v USA, tak by nějaká modernizovaná verze osmapadesátky byla bezkonkurenčně nejlepší puškou na světě... Bohužel tomu tak není... Protože je fakt, že pušky na designu AR-15 mají dodnes problém se záseky v prašném prostředí a jsou vhodnější spíš pro policii než armádu...
58 je sice zastarala o tom neni popchyb, ale je to zbran která je jednoduchá na udržbu, má vysokou živitnost v celku kvalitně zpracovaná (oproti AK-47), a je levná má levnej provoz. SA 58 sem videl prodávat za cca 2000 kc (samozrejme ne civilum je to kat.A) a 858 sem koupil fungl novou (zadna armadni repase) za 6000. Strelivo 7,62x39 4-5 kč kus.
Fungl novy CZ 858 neexistujou, vzdycky jsou to predelany armadni vz. 58, resp. jsou poskladany z nahradnich dilu (nesmi byt predelany z kompletni armadni pusky, pak by to byla kat. A, ackoliv v brode si cesticky urcite najit umi).
Akorat ze v brode tomu davaj novou povrchovku, tak to vypada skoro jako novy :)
Proc myslis, ze jsou odfrezovany ty dve plosky vedle hledi, spolecne s veskerym puvodnim znacenim? ;)
Zbraně, co používají amíci, určitě nejsou dokonalý (to není žádná zbraň), ale jsou na úplně jiné úrovni, než zkurvenej SA vz. 58, už proto, že jsou testovaný v praxi... Kdybych si měl vybrat, jestli půjdu do boje s M4 nebo sebelepší 85kou, tak beru M4, protože s tou se aspoň na těch 150 metrů trefím... A nenadávejte mi. @therandomgunguy the rate of fire on a full auto cz58 is 800 rounds per min. for the ak47 is 600 rpm. The tilting breech lock on the cz is of linear motion for the bolt, thus a very simple straight bolt movement. The ak47 uses a rotating bolt which imposes a bit more friction and movement on the bolt which has to rotate into the trunnion in order to lock. This is what makes the 200 rpm difference between them. Compare that to most modern assault rifles. This makes this rifle quite impressive.

all i can say about comment i posted about civilian cz858 tactical for canada is that it performes equivant to an FN C1A1 just not the kick , it has never jammed on me in like 2000 rounds so far , I love it it's my fun gun :D and is well worth the 700 bucks I have nothing but good to say about this weapon other then I love it

I see big arguments on this video about accuracy. From my experience with my AK variants and my CZ are as follows. The CZ outshoots all of my AK variants except the Polish WZ88 (which is in a different caliber) and my Hungarian SA 85 (which is the same caliber). But to be fair to my CZ, my Hungarian SA 85 is a freak of nature as far as my AK variants go as in it is ridiculously accurate! Not sure if it is a SA 85 thing or just mine but I am not complaining.

@int0x19 The stock bolt release isn't easy to use. There is a modified bolt release available that is reachable with a right hander's index finger. It would do what you're talking about.

I paid $515 for mine. It came with cleaning kit, sling (strap), and 2 mags. I've also spent a lot of money modifying it to my tastes (Muzzle Brake, Aluminum Handguards with Rails, and a Folding Stock). Here the accessories for the VZ.58 are more expensive than for an AK because they aren't as common.
Bottom line? I think I like my VZ more than my AK. I need to shoot both of them more to decide. : )

@daresdrop This rifle is not a heavy machine gun. The one in the video would be called an assualt rifle. The semi auto civilian model is called just that a Semi Auto Rifle. When you say Heavy Machinegun that is the same class of weapon that M2 .50 BMG and DShKs fall into. To answer your question though. In the US if you go through the proper process you can own Heavy Machineguns! Look up "Knob Creek Machinegun Shoot" and you will see citizen owned machineguns. God bless the United States!!!

@ImWatchinTheTube The price is comparable to one of the better AK's. I've seen them for as low as 550 buck, but usually more like 700 to 800.. No parts are interchangeable with the AK (except the 7.62x39 rounds) but the magazines are available for 20 to 30 bucks apiece.

Nové samozrejmne nejsou, vsechny jsou upravené z armádních zásob, ale jde o to co ta kosa mela za sebou. Sám sem videl 858 ale ne ze zbrojovky kde kvalita zpracování byla straná. Jedná se spís o první 858-ky co sly do prodeje

Puvodni vz. 58 jsou tak jako tak vyrobeny ve zbrojovce, takze jiny muze byt maximalne tak vyrobce prestavby na semi-auto, ale zpracovani zbrane jako celku je stejny.
Jedina vyjimka (krom vyrobcu receiveru v americe) jsou kousky co maji receiver od D-Techniku (Czech Small Arms), kde jsou sice ostatni dily puvodni, ale receiver je novovyroba. Nicmene ty jsou naopak o tridu kvalitnejsi nez original.

Takhle: kdyby do českýho zbrojního průmyslu a na modernizaci útočných pušek teklo poměrově tolik peněz jako v USA, tak by nějaká modernizovaná verze osmapadesátky byla bezkonkurenčně nejlepší puškou na světě... Bohužel tomu tak není... Protože je fakt, že pušky na designu AR-15 mají dodnes problém se záseky v prašném prostředí a jsou vhodnější spíš pro policii než armádu...

58 je sice zastarala o tom neni popchyb, ale je to zbran která je jednoduchá na udržbu, má vysokou živitnost v celku kvalitně zpracovaná (oproti AK-47), a je levná má levnej provoz. SA 58 sem videl prodávat za cca 2000 kc (samozrejme ne civilum je to kat.A) a 858 sem koupil fungl novou (zadna armadni repase) za 6000. Strelivo 7,62x39 4-5 kč kus.

Fungl novy CZ 858 neexistujou, vzdycky jsou to predelany armadni vz. 58, resp. jsou poskladany z nahradnich dilu (nesmi byt predelany z kompletni armadni pusky, pak by to byla kat. A, ackoliv v brode si cesticky urcite najit umi).
Akorat ze v brode tomu davaj novou povrchovku, tak to vypada skoro jako novy :)
Proc myslis, ze jsou odfrezovany ty dve plosky vedle hledi, spolecne s veskerym puvodnim znacenim? ;)

Zbraně, co používají amíci, určitě nejsou dokonalý (to není žádná zbraň), ale jsou na úplně jiné úrovni, než zkurvenej SA vz. 58, už proto, že jsou testovaný v praxi... Kdybych si měl vybrat, jestli půjdu do boje s M4 nebo sebelepší 85kou, tak beru M4, protože s tou se aspoň na těch 150 metrů trefím... A nenadávejte mi. Já nemůžu za to, že je českej zbrojní průmysl v prdeli...
