  • still love my D90 :P

  • @dervishlover D90 IS NOTHING IN THE FRONT OF 50D ,50D IS PRO DSLR ITS MAGNESIUM ALLOY BODY ,8000/1 SHUTTER 12800 ISO THERE IS NO MAT

    CH BETWEEN 50D AND D90

  • Canon EOS 50D = Legend! Perhaps the last kind of Canon DSLR w/o the video feature. Real proud of this! So glad I own one of these!

  • Just bought this camera. Get hold of it this week some time. I would like to know what lens I should buy. I have a family so will do people photos. We do a lot of sports and I like taking landscape photos. It would be good if anyone can help. Thanks

  • @trueblueozzy

landscape : 18-55 is or 10-20 sigma. 55-250 is for sport

  • 60D or 50D?

  • Comment removed

  • @x5k1LL3r deepens on money and what you what it for

  • it doesnt have video capturing :/ !??!??!

  • @axxo90 they don't even make it any more it was out in 2008, before video on DLSR started! you dope

  • my dream is to buy this camera WOWW *_* !

  • i am kind of stuck of which camera i should get the 50d or the 60d. I want some fast allround burst's for sporting and also a a camera i can take single shots with

    please help

  • @Sjoues Canon EOS 60D has and 18MP Sensor and 50D has a 15.1MP Sensor so the 60D will give you larger images and the 60D also has better ISO than the 50D. But the 50D is more solid because it has a magnesium alloy body.

  • @laptop504 50D > 60D.

  • @laptop504 Don't forget that the 50D also have 6,3fps and AF micro adjustment, while the 60D only have 5,3fps and no AF micro adjustment...

  • haha all those faggs who only want VIDEO VIDEO VIDEO in an dslr :D go and buy a camcorder xD

  • @meisterquitte085 The purpose of video in a DSLR is because the lenses give such a great film effect. In fact many film makers use a depth of focus adapter to a DSLR lens to get that fantastic effect. So chances are the 50D and others like it will have far better results than most camcorders in the same price range, even surpassing many of those 5-10 times more expensive.

  • @meisterquitte085 Dslrs do video a lot better than camcorders.

  • this camera would ahve been awesome if it had some damn video capture

  • the best semi pro camera form canon that i had been use..very tough and rugged feel when holding...

  • Can you do video with this camera?

  • watch?v=SS9iJVkkGkw

...watch and see my last taken photos with my canon.

  • @alyciawrightsnp FUCK YOU

  • +++well done++++

  • Thumbs up if you think the music is annoying.

  • For a while now, I've been on a continuous search for side by side comparisons of the 40D and the 50D. I've managed to find some excellent websites for pricing and comparisons, but this video is SOOOO much more detailed and very well put together! Thanks so much for putting this professional video out here! Keep them coming!

  • does the 50d record?

  • @DGKskater757x Video? Nope, it doesn't. I still love my camera nevertheless.

  • @r31ncarnat3d oh , cant get this camera then. tryna get a camera that can record , like for skateboarding.

  • @DGKskater757x You probably wouldn't want an xxD camera then, since it has a bigger, heavier magnesium alloy body, which may not play well with you when skateboarding. You should check out the Rebel T1i/T2i/T3i (or 500D/550D/600D if you're not in America, same cameras with different model numbers) for your stuff.

  • @r31ncarnat3d any other suggestions ? my friend has the T2i and i dont wanna get the same thing,

  • @DGKskater757x There's also the 60D and 7D, but they're more expensive. Although I don't know why you wouldn't want a T2i just because someone else has it; it seems a bit like an odd reason not to. The T2i is a great camera and share the same image sensor as the 60D and 7D but for a much cheaper price.

  • @DGKskater757x then you should get the T3i :)

  • kai is better than u! plus i can tell by ur harry arms that ur indian

  • @TechnomTigerGeek I can tell that you are not indian

  • Why does a camera like this have scene modes?! Only thing I dislike...

  • ooh the background blur would be amazing for filming

  • lose the gay as music

  • wheres kai??????

  • "canon digigff 4 processor" xD

  • @legeek08

hahaha i had to replay that to hear it.

  • the eos 50d comes - of course - with a eos 50d - that's great...

  • sweet

  • The music is very distracting.

  • "Now is a good price on the internet I found a company getitdigital - is canon or an original import , strikes me the price ? ?"

  • Hey I just go tthis camera today and love it. I am new to this, can you put the steps on how to set the 6.3 fps burst on my camera?

  • @iChristian91206 I GOT MINE TOO:) AND I LOVE ITTT ;) CHEERS!

  • @trixieification woohooo we rock!

  • why music in back ground man??

  • @639426 if the megapixels rlly matter to u that much and ur daughter rlly deserves it the why don't u just not pay rent for the next few months and buy her a 25 pixel nikon d3X

  • hey digitalrev, which one u think is better and would you recomen between the canon 50d and the canon t2i, i'm thinking bout getting one of these in a week from now, friend birthday coming up. it's really hard to decide, please help, it's gonna be my first camera...thanx

  • @Mrkhmerkid7

They made a video on that! Very good video that covers all the key points! Check it out!

  • burst .... dust dust dust

  • background music is loud and annoying...

    yet, thanks for the review..

  • great review except the elevator music... that was annoying

  • how much is this camera? my girl wants a camera and the camera she wants its okay but ehhh its just a 12mpg camera i why not a 15mpg i just want her to be happy, but still how much is this camera and im guessing i have to buy the lens separately dont i? should i wait for her to chose the lens or just buy both camera and lens? please help me out she deserves this camera.

  • @639426 it's $1150 new or a little less depending on where you buy it (in the usa). That is with the lens.

  • @639426 1000$ At the store near me

  • @639426 why not a 15? megapixels aren't everything; in fact 15 megapixels and18 (canon 7d) are gonna show you the quality of your lenses real fast. This is a "prosumer or serious hobbyist camera, more than any casual shooter"needs" make money with my old 6meg canon dslr..for web stuff 6 is perfectly fine,

  • @639426 I hope youre just trolling. Megapixels are not an issue any more, if a pro was doing a lot of billboard work THEN it becomes an issue. I've blown up images from my 40D (10mp) and the biggest issue was the printers DPI, 150 DPI just isnt sharp enough to show up a DSLR or the lens. You could blow up a 6mp image to A3 and still see the printer letting things down..

Unless "your girl" is doing some REALLY extreme cropping then stick with what youve got and put that money into a quality lens

  • the auto sensor cleaning is a joke...i still have to clean it every now and then...

  • I like the soundtrack but not with the bideo...

  • @xXxmidgexXx Yeah, it's good intro music (the spinning camera), but it just got irritating after that.

  • @xXxmidgexXx bideo? dumb ass

  • @siliconsurf i spelled it like that because it looks cuter :P

  • I dont really get a top display. Who got time to look up there? And you could just check the setting on the screen?

  • The EOS 50D is built around a 15 megapixels APS-C CMOS sensor and incorporates the latest DIGIC 4 processor to enable a wide ISO sensitivity range up

  • Got a lot of information in your video! Thanks!

Just got my first DSLR-- 50D today, with a cheap but decent 50mm/1.8II lens!

  • CF cards can get faster speeds than SD : /

  • @Skumpcake Actually that's good to know, I;m a beginner tho, and in the process of getting a D80 for less than retail price from my work, So Really I can't complain about processing of Raw file speeds :]

  • what happened to this guy? did Kai kill him with jokes or something haha

  • Hello :) I am looking for a good canon camera and I am stuck between the Canon 50d and 500d. I want the camera to have excellent quality pictures that a crisp and clear. I also want the camera to have good zoom, (I might have to purchase a lens for that if so which one is great?) Which camera would you recommend? Thank you! :)

  • 450d, what i am getting soon!

  • My friend is getting the 450d :) it looks like a really good camera as well, but I am stuck between all of them because they are all so good :O

  • T2I is out tomorrow. might want to consider that also.

  • 50d is still the better camera

  • hey guy... i have a question how can you tell if that kit is perfect with the camera..?

sorry im still a beginner in photograph.. and i still don't have one... but starting this year im going to get one of those... :D

  • 50D + 50mm F1.4 = awesomeness.

  • hey guys i was just wondering which one you'd recommend me to chose

the eos 50D or the eos 500D

i'm not really THAT interested in photog but it's just a camera i need to bring around as i take a lot of pics and videos. THANKS

  • More likely if you take alot of picture I recomend the 50D but if you want something to begin with and if you are a rookie and want to take video than I recommend you 500D, But just for picture, 50D is the best.

    -Owner of Canon EOS 50D

  • 500d because 50d doesn't have video and it is more user friendly also it is 400.00 cheaper

  • @Najiah700 buy a 500d with a good lens :D, is better ;)

  • 50d is more expensive. its heavier and there is no video-recording mode. Its much more for the professionals. I would recommend u 500d, its a good choice.

  • Comment removed

  • no dude, ca is fine... simply put, if u want a dslr u gotta love all of its ups and downs. ca mode reduces inconvenience especially if your novice photographer buddy (who happens to not have a dslr yet) wants to get a feel for a dslr for self assessment.

if u are a fan boy, may it be canon, nikon, or some other brand, u gotta trust ur brand. surely they wont put something that will destroy their rep in the long run.

ca mode is there for a reason, and i have just given one of them.

  • the 50d has everything i need for advancing in photography. shutter speed not so fast, nor too slow, resolution not so high, yet can slil provided great images.. it fits in my hand perfectly. it feels solid. i love it...

  • i'd rather get the d90 for uner 1k USD.

d90 takes wonderful pics with lots of fuctions! can't go wrong w/d90.

  • @ValueMSW

thats exactly what i did. :) this ones also very good value for money though. my friend has this and he was pushing me hard to go for this one instead of the d90. but hes a bit of a canon fan, so i just went head with the d90.

  • you will enjoy the d90 a lot like me.

i also have the entry level d40. feels great in my hand.

  • If I were to take a pic witht the 50D in 100 ISO and the same but with a 7D. Would the picture quality be such a big difference?

  • Comment removed

  • How interested in photography are you? Thats really what it comes down to. The 50D you'll love the either way.(It's compared to the D300). But if you really want to get into photography and stay with it (and if you have the money) you should go with the 7D. ONE reason the 7D is more exspensive is bc it has HD movie. So if your going to buy a Camcorder you could actually save money by buying the 7D, but if you already have one you probably would never use one or the other.

    I hope that helped.

  • so the only BIG difference from the 7D to the 50D is the video? any other BIG differences?

  • 904SF, the sensor size in the 7D is slightly larger, which has great benefits. But if you want a bigger sensor, I'd just go full frame and spend the extra money. . . you cannot beat full frame.

  • creative auto is a joke if you dont know how to do that stuff in manual you shouldn't buy this camera

  • @UrbnProspector Completely agree. It's just one more click you have to turn.

  • @UrbnProspector Haha, you're spot on! But there are many people who want to take photo's with a dslr, just to look pro, or expecting higher quality, and find a 500d or something similar just to small (gripwise) and choose the most affordable one with a big body. Sad thing, but i've seen it happen in many stores.

  • @UrbnProspector

    I know, right.

    My main question is this:

    Is this not 720?

    Isn't the t2i 1080?

I am more a video guy who uses stills within a video and on my blog, main reason to switch up from the SX20 IS is low light performance in video.

  • HELP I DONT KNOW WHAT TO GET!!! D90 OR 50D?? please!!! someone telll me soon!

  • 50D

  • and why is that? how is the 50d better than D90?

  • @TaGzDRuMMeR - It felt hollow and too light? Must not have been the 50D. I have the 50D and it is NOT hollow or too light.

  • @alienmurphy Compared to a D90, it feels hollow and light which I dont like.

    Its just personal preference

  • if you want to get a camera to just feel professional your a retard lol... 50d is a great camera for work

  • @BlankMessageTV fuck off

  • but i love you

  • k good <3

  • So why would you recommend this camera besides picture quality? are the controls easy?

  • Nice review, are you from singapore? You sounds very Singaporean... :P

  • Digital Rev is from Hong Kong, i think.......so I would think the reviewer is from Hong Kong....but then again, Hong Kong of full of foreigners ;-)

  • does this one have a light that pops out of the top? did the 40 D have that light ?

  • Both 40D and 50D both have built in flash

  • It's called flash, and yes - Most of the canon cameras have it, except 5D, 5DMK II and pro series. Low and semi-pro all have flash on top.

  • Image quality if downgrade from 40d. sorry. Hopefully 60d will be downgraded to 12mp like they downgraded the G11.

  • 70D Willl come soon with 18Mp

  • DigitalRevCom: Thanks for posting these reviews. But man, you guys NEED to invest in a good microphone. The quality of the video and speech are so disproportionate to one another. Is this driving anybody else crazy?

  • We are aware of the sound issues and will be upgrading our entire set of video equipment in the near future. Thanks for watching our videos.

  • Well said

  • @mickcivic ths vid is like 1 year old they have updated it now there are HD vids :) yerrr

  • so gettin dat

  • get your recording sorted ffs, your meant to be pros aren't you

  • I'm currently using a 400D/XTi and I'm considering upgrading to the 50D. Since the price for this camera is quite high, I'm just wondering if the upgrade is worth the price? Or should I upgrade to the Nikon D5000? I could use help! Great review!

  • Don't switch! unless it is absolutely neccessary.

Getting a 50D for an upgrade will be great and you will save more (costwise)

switching will cost you a lot more (i've went through) and you will have to bother with so much hassles.

  • Whats the music in the begggining?

  • Was $400 AUS more but I got that down to $200 so no much more and was worth it.

  • I was going to buy the 500D and then tried out the 50D in the shop and bought the 50D much better camera.!!!

  • Yes, but also a lot more expensive

  • what happened to his voice around 4:00?

  • so I'm a about to be a beginner. I'm thinking about buying Canon XS. When would be the right time to upgrade? What would I get from the 50d that I wnot get from XS?

  • i have an XS and it take decent pictures

while the xs has a 10.1 MP CMOS, the 50 D has a 15 apsc CMOS and a 6.3 FPS shooting mode

  • 20D is still the best...

  • gstamaria---what the heck is a 20d ???

  • Why do they all add video mode to the new cameras ? If I wanted to shoot a video I'd buy a video camera.

  • If adding video doesn't decrease the other functions of the camera in any way, I don't see why it shouldn't be there. It was like adding video playback to portable MP3 players. People were against that and now it's a normal, and even required, feature.

It's only when adding a new feature by sacrificing existing features (like image quality) that I have a problem with. Not everyone has the money for a HD video camera, so it's a handy feature for plenty of people.

Each to their own though... :-)

  • 3:28 "SD Card Not Included". Um, duh, the 50D (and 40D) use CF cards! Lol.

Great camera though, I really want one!

  • Thanks for the video. I will be getting one in a few months. I thought about waiting for the 60D but in truth I'm not really bothered about HD video and the 50D seems good enough to me.

  • that was the sxe phill sound clip at the begining

  • I going to replace my 450d with this one. I hope the difference between both is worth the extra bucks...

  • Wait for the 60d with HD video.

  • Thanks for your advice!

  • omg when is coming out ??

  • thanks for NO information..

why dont you say what 15 mega pixels means instead of just reading shit off the back of the box?

  • You don't know what 15MP means? This is a serious camera and one would assume you know the basics if you are looking to get one of these. Otherwise, stick to the 500D...

  • I think that if somebody doesn't know what 15MP means then they'd be best off buying a cheap point and shoot, never mind a 500D haha!

  • True!

The 500D is probable the most "point and shoot" DLSR (out of the Canon range), it certainly is marketed that way. The small size is appealing to women (not trying to be sexist here) more so than the larger, heavier DSLR are.

It's like: "You want awesome photos of your kids/friends/family? Then get the 500D, it's like a P&S, only way better. It's small, light, compact and easy to use!". It's like it's trying not to be a DSLR but with all the DSLR features.

  • I agree. I was actually so impressed by the 50D that I bought one a few days ago. I have been comparing it to my friend's 1000D (which is smaller than the 500D) and can see the massive difference. The thing I find most pointless about beginner DSLRs is the kit lens provided: I think many point and shoots would provide better images. The 1000D (and the 500D) also have a very plasticy feel to them - I don't like the front heavy feel. However, the 50D is extremely well balanced with a 17-85 lens

  • If I had the cash on me right now, I would buy the 50D over all the other camera in it's price range :-).

I went into a store (yes, a real shop!) the other day and held the 500D and the 50D and boy, the difference in size/weight is huge! The 500D really does feel like a toy camera in comparison.

I've never held a 1000D but I can assume what it feels like.

I have rather large hands and the 500D is just out of the question now. Time to start saving for me :-).

  • no, no no..

I know what 15MP means, but that can be a very misleading number and says nothing about the quality of the pixels.

If you are reviewing a product, instead of reading a bunch of stats off the back of the box you should go over each point and give your opinion... otherwise you really arent really providing a service, are you?

  • I don't give a shit whats in the box im more concerned about the camera! ffs

  • HAHAHAHA!

  • all i did was google it and i found a it when i typed in canon 50d best price and it just came up

  • i did find a new one online for only $500 USD's

  • really, where?

  • If you google reviews of the site you saw the camera for $500 you will find no doubt that the operation is a bate and switch type of site that will cause you nothing but headaches..

  • how much is the 50D going for in price? please let me know thank you

  • You're on a computer, Google it.

  • Ive seen them in european stores at around 850 euros (950$)

  • No you haven't! Cheapest 50D is £1200 which is closer to €1400 and the 40D in England is £829 which is about €970. Wish they were €850 i would buy two!!!

  • wrong, cheapest 50d is £809 body only and lens kit is £1069.99

  • in fact cheapest is now £739 rgb

  • Is that body only? must be? Here in Ireland the 40D is €999.95, the 450D is €699.99 and 50D €1199.99. They are the cheapest i could find. Where are your great prices from? Regards K

  • I just picked one up in the UK for £1099 with a 17-85 IS USM lens

  • The only thing that really bugs me is the creative auto mode. I know it's supposed to be dumbed down for the beginner but this will be my first dSLR and I wish canon gave us the benefit of the doubt to be able to learn shutter speed and aperture settings... having the ability to save three custom settings as the 40D has is much cooler.... my $.02

  • I'm not overly familar with the 50D but do you mean it doesn't have Av, Tv and M on the mode selector so you can work with and learn shutter spped and aperture setting relationship?

  • AV TV and M are standard :)
