Back in the 1950's, perhaps early 1960's, Jackie Gleason produced and directed quite a few LP recordings of some of the most beautful music ever put on vinyl. Mostly great standards from the best composers. At one time they were available on CD but I am not sure about today.
Takes me back. I'm laying on the living room floor. Mom on the davenport. Dad in the big rocking chair. There we were. Watching the Honeymooners in black & white. Little did we know, that just a few years later, dad would be gone and mom and I would be right there again watching the first man walk on the moon.
@articoli - She knew (and loved) her husband, and he knew (and loved) her. "Sides, if he ever came close to really laying a hand on her, she woulda killed him!
@elperromagico - Agreed. But as I got older I was struck by the fact that this gorgeous theme introduced some of the greatest slapstick, pants-falling-down humor we've had the privilege of seeing. How ironic - and beautiful!
memories of when I was little, and my mother, and her friends would play their poker game in the kitchen, and I would fall asleep on the couch, and then my mother would wake me up, and tell me to go to bed...:)

One of my all-time favorite sitcoms. Much better than the crap currently on today's TV.

It's true they didn't need cussing or sexual inuendo to be funny. But those threats of domestic violence were hilarious.

Yes, the "to the moon Alice" stuff wouldn't be allowed now, but we always knew that he would never actually lay a hand on her.
