Hi Jose thanks for the comment! they can live up to 30 years but that is an exception- probably about 15 years at a good average and they get up at dawn but my pets are covered up over night but they are relatively quiet really!! luv Tricia
They all look different to me like people do and they all know their own names and respond when I call them by their own names - they are very smart much smarter than people think they are and remember things for years after the event- read some articles on my website if you get time! luv ღ~Tricia~ღ
Tricia this is wonderful. You and the birds are great.Thank you for sharing your beautiful videos,By the way,Listened and looked the Vietnamese-love song video.Beautiful.
Thanks Heather for your lovely comment!:) LOL one of my cockatiels just walked all over my keyboard pressing on the keys and made my spelling worse than it normally is!!
Loved your recent blog entry...very informative and all so true, especially about Tiels losing their mates. I have one of those males that took on another male as a mate after his female mate died. He's happy as can be. He'll mate with female birds, but prefers to hang out with Stewie all day long. If I bring Stewie in to the main part of the house, Wally goes nuts calling him. I took Stewie in the shower with me today and Wally screamed the entire time. LOL
It is actually a boy (Danny Boy) who are harder than girls to train! It takes a lot of persistance, patience, praise, love and getting them to trust you as it's totally unnatural and very scary for them to be on their backs. I start with a young handraised baby & lay it on it's back in my hand with lots of praise and scartches and if it gets upset immediately let it up so it doesn't get scared and then just keep going for longer times.I"ll put more on my website.
I have 5 eggs ready to hatch and I'm going to do what you did with one of the chicks. I would love to see one laying on their backs. So rare for cockatiels to do that. You're amazing...I know I keep saying it, but it's true.
I was wondering if you know where I could search online to see group settings of cockatiels in the wild. I can't find any photos or videos anywhere. I thought with you living right there in Australia that you might know of somewhere. Someday I will go there. My dream.
i tried to put the link in but i couldn't - but try "cockatiels queensland Australia" search Google videos and there is one there. i did see more a little while ago i'll try to souce them. I'll put a photo I have of wild cockatiels on my blog when I can find it.
What a fun little video! Your babies are adorable. I have a little cinnamon girl, Lucy Lu and I love her to pieces. Arent cockatiels the best little birds?
