  • Another option to power an car audio amp in your house is to find some old cheap PC powesupply's. With some modification internally you can basically run 3 of them wired together in series using the 5V output and get a 25-50amp 15v power supply. Most people wont want to do this but if you like to tinker with stuff it's a fun project.

  • @ecoots normally i dont reccomend that method, but with three psu's itd be more then sufficent for a car amp. one alone will be strained greatly. ^^ u forgot to mention that its also dangerous for people to even open a psu to modify, since noobs dont know about the large capacitors that stay charged inside ;)

  • @demonsparkx Good point, also i agree with you about battery chargers, Unregulated dirty source of power, most of them that are good enough will introduce noise in your system and even if you just use a battery and charge it when not in use you still risk running low voltage to your equipment and cooking it. BTW nice channel.

  • @ecoots yes, couldnt agree more. and thanks!

  • @demonsparkx Can u please help me out what do u suggest I use

  • @demonsparkx I was think about a pc surge or something like a 12 volt battery charger from wal mart

  • @ssdukeinterprize well if its an actuall battery charger, you WILL have some problems... ive tryed a 300Amp 75Lb car battery charger/ jumpstarter. and since it trickle charges it wouldnt even turn on the amp. some MAY work but i personally do not reccomend using chargers.

  • i just order a male to two RCA female Y splitter now i need the rca cords and a power supply

  • @ssdukeinterprize nice! what power supply are you getting?

  • thanks for the heads up i wanted to do this for a long time now.

  • I see u no ur stuff but I'm try to hook up my car subs and maybe possibly my car amp to home reciever but I only have one receiver can it be done

  • @ssdukeinterprize yes. if you have a car amp, subwoofers and at least one reciever, then it can easily be done. just make sure you have sufficent power for the car amp. if your stereo has a subwoofer pre-out all you'd need is a rca Y splitter and a pair of rca cables to run from the pre-out of your stereo to the L and R inputs on the car amp

  • Ur retarded.

  • @UGxFonic yeah you are, seeing as you watched this and posted that comment, im guessing your to brain-dead to understand the video,no? TROLL

  • Pretty ghetto looking, I like it.

  • And get some fucking electrical tape!

  • @ohiorocksdude i assure you, its not needed. i built a dual car amp rack with two 1100 watt 2ch amps, for my 15's. i move fast with my projects. this is only a temporary solution for those who cant spend the $100 for a regulated power supply, and money on a decent amp, also around 100 bux.

  • Wewfer? ...... woof... like a dog woof woof. Woof..er

  • @ohiorocksdude lmao :P

  • @j12torts it should power on regardless of even your amperage, the only time it would shut down is under load. thats interesting

  • I have a 300Watts subwoofer with an amplifier built in it.

but the plugs are like the computer pin plugs, do i have to makeshift wires in order to get this thing going?

also same with the plugs for the speakers its a 4 pin pc type plug. help?? plsss

  • @j12torts i have no idea what your talking about, lol. I dont do much with self powered speakers, what kind of plugs exactly are they? 3.5mm style or are they phantom power plugs if you can post a video and send me a link,or a web link to the product you have ill try and help the best i can

  • @demonsparkx i hooked up everything and the sub turned on for a second then off?? could it be that my power supply is not producing enough power? 9amps on the 12V yellow wire.

my subwoofer has a 20amp fuse in it....idk lo i spliced a lot of wires already.

  • @demonsparkx oh and i havent hooked up any speakers yet, im jst testing if the power turns on

  • @ryangranttv well... this isnt in a car going for a clean build installation competition lol. ive long since built a custom amp rack installed into my room with two 1100 watt car amps, two dual 12" jvc tower speakers and 2 15's. ive owned just about every single brand but memphis and Fi audio, over the corse of 3 years at that ;)

  • @fitbikes1000 really now, and how the fuck did u pull that off? amuse me, ive been doing audio for nearly 10 years now, unless you had a crossover you were driving your woofers with no lpf and therefore putting 'highs' through them.... also your car audio video is retarted. very shitty amp and mix matched woofers as well. stick to your bmx shit, kid. sorry to do this to you but i dont need no fuckers up in here tryna be a know-it-all on MY videos that are PROVEN TO WORK

  • i was 12 years old and i had a 600 watt amp and 2 -12s 2 -15s and a 300 watt reciver in my room you do not need 2 recivers

  • LOL like the shit bangs, but it's ghetto as fuck LMFAO

  • Forsure, i appreciate the help bro, suscribed :)

  • @sdchargers2007 i figured it was, no problem man i been doing audio for 11 years i try n help my best for those who need help, its a bit difficult to describe stuff through words though lol. just message me if u need anything

  • @demonsparkx yea its a pre fabricated kicker box with 2 comps. Im new to the car audio scene so thanks for the help.

  • @sdchargers2007 well if your trying to run two subs to two channels, youd need them wired to stereo mode. mono is just for single input. you HAVE to have two seperate terminal cups, one for each speakers + and - the box u have is most lilkly custom built or pre fabbed for a monoblock system.

  • @demonsparkx how would i go about connecting 2 subwoofers in the same enclosure to 2 different channels on the reciever if it only has 1 speaker wire connection on the box?

  • @sdchargers2007 do u mean power consumption watts or output wattage? power consumption for a 500 watt 5.1ch stereo is around 250 power consumption watts 1.2Amperes at 120Volts. there is no way to 'bridge' a stereo to get more power to a single driver/speaker. only car amps are able to do that since they have different mosfets and board components.

  • How much watts from the stereo used as an amplifier would be used if the reciever has 100 watts per channel, and how would i be able to use all the watts provided from it instead of half the watts?

  • @kevinthesteelersfan lol im glad you see that for yourself as well, ive done this method for years and years and never had any problems other then trying to run a 2ohm load on a 8ohm stable reciever lol. the way its done is just using the subwoofer as it were a speaker, nothing different per-say. glad you enjoy my vids,im sure theres plenty others youll find usefull info and entertaining. thanks for watching!

  • Nice Vid man .,, All these noobs that say your vid is terrible dont know what theyre talkin about, but OBVIOUSLY your method works., Some ppl need to read description before they hate on a vid,..Jus sayin-

  • @basshead23220 haha what a faggot troll you are. you have NOTHING.

  • this is dumb you don't need 2 receivers. look at my setup

  • @23mnz23 normally id be offended by shit like that, but yeah your right. except DECENT tape is expensive and i used quite alot. if u wana see a beasty near pro-like install check out the newest vids, clean as hell with a amp rack and car amp. i no longer use recievers due to there high ohm stability. i run two 15's at 2ohm. soon to be six 15's in my room.

  • @traxxluver you can but i dont reccomend computer psu's. dc switching power supplys work the absolute best

  • Could I use a computer power supply to run an amp then use the red and white sound output on the reciever to the amp?

  • @binkoboy55 no,the way i show in this video,it does the same thing as your LPF "low pass filter" on a car amplifier it elimiates the mids and highs signal so all thr woofer will repreduce is the low bass frequencys.

  • so is this just bass that comes out then or does it also have treble running through?

  • @gunmanguy well ive been doing this method for nearly 10 years now, so sorry if it seems a bit complicated. theres alot more that goes into wiring to power car woofers without an actuall car amplifier. in the long run this is only going to be good to run many low rms watt rated woofers. ill have a new video up within a week or two on hooking up a real car amp in home and showing how to wire it as well, its very simple.

  • all i heard in the vid was complicated and complicated i cant handle all that im just a begginer

  • @mikemooney6969 pssh amatuer, ive been doing this for the past 7 years NOOB.

  • terrible

  • @jayholley123 LOL i suppose it can be,but if done right, the sound quaility is splendid lol. 100rms or more on low wattage rated subs works fine. Ive been doing this method for 3 years now without failure. Just higher then normal temps.

  • thats so getto i like it :D

  • Hey Demon, Sent you a PM, Nice video :D
