firing that many bullets I think he's dead. Definite shoot first, ask questions later approach to Bach. Played at 2/3 speed I expect this might turn out to be very good, but at this pace imo it's just an assault
Honestly, I felt it was too fast, at least for me. I wasn't able to clearly follow each voice and hear them weave in and out. Aside from that, you seem pretty talented/skilled.
Does anyone know, did Bach write Art of the Fuge after Musical Offering? If so, then Bach must have had an awareness of the piano as he constructed the AoF, as he improvised on early versions of the piano in Potsdam for Frederick the Great.
@tobby2468 Perhaps if the sound quality wasn't as nearly as muddied up by the echo, it would be much easier to hear that there are errors all over the place in this recording; for instance, listen more carefully to the ten seconds following 1:54.
well, the tempo is ok...but we are talking about music and really "distanced" music...for my feelings it is played with to much force, really to much. you want the theme, not a KLONK, KLONK...
And that is exactly why there is no reason to assume that it was written only for the harpsichord. Oh, and I'm sorry I insulted you for berating someone else's opinion of this performance by addressing them as "silly"; I guess I'm just too childish for my own good.
i have learn up to the contraponctus X but i play more slow cause it's hard to play this at the right speed and what is hard is that the part is write in C-clef
okay so im like all 4 the band 3 days grace, and stuff like that. i had 2 listen 2 bach stuff 4 a composer project 4 my music class in school. *im in middle school* and like im not saying im gonna download this on2 my ipod or anything drastic liek that, but this music is definetly catching my attention.4 words can put bach in him place: bach-is-a-genius!!!!
For those of you who accidently trips over this: it's Bach's perhaps most virtuose fugue -- with 4 (!) voices and two themes, constantly jumping around between the two hands. Not for beginners. I do hope Herr Gardizi will also give us no 4 (the 'lyrical' one).
shame for the accoustics... must have been a wonderful performance...

Pretty funny how this guy can play so well but not memorize the music. Like a trained monkey.

There aren't supposed to be any, silly it was written for a harpsichord after all.
Nachtmarchen 2 years ago
Bach didn't specify which instrument this is supposed to be played on, you stupid motherfucker.
slapchopification 2 years ago
Cannot respond without childish insults I see. There is no reason to assume it wasn't written with the harpsichord in mind.

you are simply amazing..you don't even look at the keyboard(this is inconceivable..) I confirm, you are faster than Gould!

You play it faster than Gould :P some of it gets lost in my humble opinion. Radtastic playing, though.

I have a recording of the art of fugue by julliard quartet, and they to play at this speed, one which I consider too fast...
ruitye75ir94444 3 years ago
pretty much everything fine. Just that it sounds too heavy and forte. A little bit lighter :)
Other than that, very good.
radurak 4 years ago
WOW. I always wanted to hear this fugue to be played fast like this.
playing fugues fast makes it easier to catch the beautifulness of their structure.
