  • okay i know this video is old and all that but seriously wrestling and religion are not the similarity in reality atheist are people that believe what they been told so they convert themselves to atheist because they are scared that god maybe exists. Second i use to watch wrestling its been fake and everything is scripted the injuries are real though i can't say that the injury are fake some just fake their injury for some time off. and am not a religious person am just a strong individual!!

  • @MrBOSSLUIS Ok, can you try NOT typing with your chin?

  • @dstebbin And what has to do with anything on my comment is that supposed to be an insult, just because am stating facts does not mean that am typing with my chin!! yeah okay!!

  • @MrBOSSLUIS What?

Seriously, I have no fucking clue what the hell you just said!

  • @flamingdragon7777 That's it. You're blocked for spamming.

  • wrestling is scripted

  • @flamingdragon7777 Do you have a point?

  • @dstebbin yeah fake is different to scripted

  • @flamingdragon7777 Do. You. Have. A. POINT?!

  • You hate the fact that I'm using logic because you, yourself, are obviously incapable of logic.

Wrestling is the victim of a double standard. Period.

  • interesting.but I think fake basher's are trying to say that wrestling has a place in entertainment but they lost credibility long ago. You watch a sport like college wrestling or greco-roman its a fight of a real reputation built not a fake one thus more drama and it might not be more entertaining but I'v never in my life seen any one claim to know "pro" wrestling and and use this on the streetwise situation. and yes "pro"wrestling claims to be real all the time. I think thats the real beef.

  • What do you mean, they lost credibility a long time ago?

Not ten years ago, wrestling was on top of the world! Wrestling was a worldwide phenomenon.

Also, no, wrestling does NOT claim to be real, other than what is necessary to suspend the disbelief of the fans. They'll only pretend to be real during the show itself, but never outside the show will they stick to kayfabe.

  • @dstebbin well if it doesn't claim to "be real" then its fake. and just because its a popular form of entertainment still doesn't make the combat more credible to a real fighter. example - I did real college wrestling it can be used in combat, but the fact that its calling itself "pro"wrestling when its fake. is what the beef is about. "the name" call it for what it is then "Acting like a wrestler" but they don't cause "pro" sounds better then Acting.

  • Ok, you completely missed the point of the entire video.

Yes, wrestling is "fake." That does not take away from its entertainment value.

People like you seem to have the misconception that wrestling is supposed to be on par with UFC or boxing. It's not. They never, not once, compared wrestling to martial arts. Wrestling is sports ENTERTAINMENT.

    Hold on, I've got more.

  • Sports entertainment is defined as the display of athletic ability with the primary goal of entertaining the audience, rather than beating, or out-performing, your opponent.

For example, a circus is a type of sports entertainment (in fact, wrestling as we know it got its start in the carnivals, hence the term "carny"). The same goes with action fight scenes. If it's a form of entertainment that requires athletic ability, it's sports entertainment.

  • Also, what about magicians?

You go to see a magic show, you know it's done using slight of hand and custom-made props. Does that make the show any less enjoyable?

The bottom line is, when you buy a ticket to a wrestling show, you're paying money to see a broadway-style play, an acrobatics show, a choreographed fight scene, and Fonz-like stunts, all rolled into one.

I'm done for now; care to counter-comment?

  • @dstebbin so if you admit that its fake then. why get upset when people call it fake? It is what it is. I never said that its not entertainment but it is fake nun the less.

  • I get upset when people call it "fake" because they're calling it "fake" in a condescending way.

You can dislike wrestling if you want, but it being "fake" is a totally bogus and double standard reason to not like wrestling.

"Man, I hate wrestling; that shit's so fake... Oh, look, Family Guy's on!"

  • @dstebbin I know I know your mad at people call it fake and I'm angry that they dont. I think this is one of those instances were you just cant convince me. sorry mate

  • Is that really all you've got left?

To be honest, you've already displayed such blatant stupidity that I'm almost not surprised that you can't see logic here, as well as with Obama.

Go back to your wife/sister and have her bring you a beer.

  • Yes, wrestling IS fake, and that's not a lie, but the fact that fake-bashers such as yourself feel compelled to actually tack on that adjective, as if it somehow demeans the quality of the product, is what pisses us wrestling fans off.

Like, you don't say "Fake sitcom" or "fake movie." The adjective "fake" comes without saying.

If the same applied to wrestling, we'd be more receptive to it.

  • @dstebbin I'd love to watch Ken Shamrock vs Reza Nasri and see what happens? cuz ken is a "pro" and Reza is a champ.

  • People use the fact that it's fake as their primary insult towards wrestling. THAT'S what gets under wrestling fans' nerves so much.

  • For example, when someone uses the N word to describe a black person, yes, it's derived from a Latin word that, translated into English, means "the color black," but it's the fact that they use the word to DEGRADE that ethnic group that made that word a slur. You can't simply say "Well, honestly, that's what you are, aren't you?" It doesn't work like that.

"Fake wrestling" applies the same logic.

  • @dstebbin I see your point I really do trust me. but how do you think I feel "a college wrestler" when a pro wrestling fan tries to say that a "pro" could easily kick my ass when I know that most Pros are either former college champs at one point and or pure actors this makes the saying hookers come into play AKA "guys like my brother" 2 time former state champ. I know I wasn't the best in wrestling I'll admit but to say they could take a real college or greco-roman wrestler is insulting.

  • Has anyone, other than pre-teen little kids, told you that a professional wrestler could beat you in a real fight?

    ANYONE?

  • Ok, I'll give you one thing:

I'm pretty sure people like Kurt Angle and Bobby Lashley could win a real fight.

Because Lashley is already undefeated in MMA, so I KNOW he can fight for real.

And Kurt Angle is an Olympic gold medalist in freestyle wrestling (which is what you did in college, right? RIGHT?).

So yeah, THOSE guys could kick some real ass.

I suggest going to a wrestling forum and browsing around, and seeing how they behave, before you make any further judgments on wrestling.

  • Also, sometimes, they will admit that wrestling is fake even during the show; this is called a "worked shoot." For example, sometime in 2007 (I forget the exact date), D-Generation X was back for one night. When the wrestler Hornswoggle came out and interrupted them, Shawn Micheals actually pulled the script from his boot and showed that Hornswaggle wasn't supposed to be on at that point.

  • very good video. it's true about the double standard.

  • Thank you. Your's was very good itself.

  • You said it best. It's a soap opera and only women watch soap operas.

  • You have absolutely NO idea what I just said.

Dude, the only thing that makes it a soap opera is how the story is told. The target audience is determined by the plot elements, not the manner of storytelling.

  • You e-mailed me trying to explain wraslin'. If you enjoy it great but I think it's trash. End of story. It just a bunch of drama queen bullshit.

  • So, what kind of television DO you enjoy watching?

  • I don't even own a TV. I'm sorry if I offended you. You seem like a nice guy, I didn't mean any harm.

  • Well, what about the Internet? I can link you to a couple of good matches that might help sway your opinion about wrestling, as long as you promise to watch them with an open mind.

    Should I PM you?

  • Perhaps, but you seem to lack one fundamental piece of information:

No one, not one single solitary person, watches wrestling with the intention of watching a real fight. Wrestling fans watch wrestling for the same reasons that I listed in this video.

  • okay ^^

  • i dont know much about wrestling but think i want to watch some episodes now to learn a bit more of it 5/5 good job ^^

  • If you're going to watch some episodes and learn a bit more, you may want to start with TNA Impact, Thursdays at 9pm ET on Spike. Some people don't like TNA, but what will rope you in is that it's onl one night a week, not three like WWE, so it'll be easier to follow.

  • Because I have given WoW a try, and it sucked.

  • Well, to a point, yes, because just like a soap opera, you can't get soaked into the stories with just one episode of watching; you have to watch it week-in and week-out to fully understand why they're at each other's throats.

  • If you want to combat people who attack scripted professional wrestling for being fake, become a real smartass. For people who are only so vague as to say "Wrestling is fake," bring up college wrestling which is very real. And then bring up real sports like golf and table tennis and ask them if real always means good.

  • Frostbitten, I thought you and I had already done this. Are you sure you want to do it again, because I guarentee that it will have the same results.
