The translation in Japanese is a mess. John said "The next song is one of those many songs of ours that get banned." In Japanese it says "The next song is for strengthening our bond." Banned became bond through translation.
Capitalism is defined by tripple opression: class, race and gender. In most capitalist societies women are at the bottom in income, status, work, violence, etc.
That's why Yoko ono described women as niggers of the world. She was right and so is Lennon.
What in the world does capitalism have to do with anything? Women make more money & enjoy more civil liberties in the US right now than they ever did before at any time in history anywhere in the world. I agree with the message of the song, but capitalism has absolutely nothing to do with it. In fact the point of the song is that women have been oppressed across all civilizations since the dawn of man long before the concepts of capitalism or socialism even existed dumbass.
gays are the fags of the world.....when i say this I say this to basically say every minority have their battle to fight quit making people's troubles compared to black america. its disrespectful to black america and whatever minority you are talking about. I understand his point was good but it was still a bad way to put it nonetheless
@Wgivens93 oh so I get it when people use the n-word they really mean to insult WOMEN not black people so all the prejudice black people face is REALLY supposed to be sexism not racism thanks for that dumbass revelation fucking spare me!! so when asshole Mel Gibson was threatening his baby's momma he really meant a 'pack of women' would rape her and the sign on Rick Perry's place really was 'womenhead'.
@Wgivens93 so anytime a black person is shot and killed by police like 41 times and 50 times and in the back it's REALLY about sexism not racism! all the crosses burnt on lawns was about sexism not racism so next time I hear the n-word I should take heart because it's about GENDER not race do I have that load of shit about right?!!
I am never surprised by ANYTHING that ANY white person does. They never cease to amaze me. They wipe out whole populations of people and say it's for their own good, they spread disease, privatize then deprived needed resources, they are truly the virus of all living things. Being objective, the only thing that I can say that white people have done that has not been destructive is PROBABLY their medical innovations. But now that I think about it, they are trying to even play God with nature.
@clubpenguinsux1 Actually, I did not. I understand the analogy that he was trying to project. But at the same time, there are many words in the dictionary that could've been used as an analogy besides nigger. But he chose that word for a reason. Don't try to play down reality.
None of them have the shock value, and without that kind of flame, how could you start a fire? A word inherently means absolutely nothing. It's all about context, and if you can't see that, you're fucking blind, sir.
@mussman717word I will not participate in your discourtesies. I you can't exchange views without being discourteous, then this conversation is not worth it.
@mussman717word Are you kidding me?????? I don't think you really believe that. A rapper will most rappers justifiy the filth that they project by saying, "I just talking about what is happening in the streets." However, they make filthy music that no one should listen to. It is anti-social and it has the potential to influence impressionable people. Is that incorrect? I think not. There words SHOULD be judged. As all words should be judge, famous or not.
I TOTALLY agree with you about modern-day rappers. However, the problem is still context -- or in their case, the lack thereof. John Lennon is speaking, as a man, on behalf of womens' oppression. The vast majority of hip-hop, on the other hand, talks of money and hoes and shooting people up for no reason at all. There is NO subject matter beyond the surface, and therefore I don't refer to them as legitimate 'artists' to begin with -- ergo, my original statement stands as is.
@mussman717word See? Even the Beatles hated spear chucking spooks! I'm glad that John got shot though. He failed to realize that slant-eyed chinks like Yoko are indeed the niggers of the world, except for the niggers. Don't get me wrong, I fuckin hate everyone so don't get to thinking that I'm racist or anything ya dirty jew.
Also, I do agree also that it influences impressionable people. Then, it comes down to responsibility and how people should overcome being so easily impressionable in the first place, but that's an entirely different line which has yet to be drawn in the sand. However, the argument started with this song in particular, and what is the worst that could become of it? A guy realizes "holy shit, I need to treat my fucking wife better" -- that's a positive message, and nothing but.
@mussman717word I always treat my wife really good and hate the fact i have to beat her regularily but fucking sluts sometimes just dont listen and whine waaaay too much so ya just have to put them back in their place.Like last Valentines Day for example...my wife kept asking for a gold watch and finally i snapped and kicked her in the tuna dungeon and said "There is a clock over the stove bitch... now get your fat ass back in the kitchen where it belongs"
@jblackmel How is that ANY different than all the perverted disgusting sleaze coming from the degenerates in HollyWEIRD asshole?!! stop prentending you have moarls because there is not a DAMN thing moral about you whiny prick!
@jblackmel Yes he DID choose that word for a reason. If you consider the time that this song was written, it was when African Americans, or people from African descent in general were treated with much less respect and much more discrimination than they are treated with now. He was simply using the word to describe that the same thing applies to women, NOT to say that black men did not deserve equal rights to white men, and that women are being treated how black people should be.
@clubpenguinsux1 We'll agree to disagree. It has always been impossible for white people to sympathize with anyone who is non-white. White people will always make excuses for their behavior. The bottom line is, there are tons of words that could have been used to describe said situation. Make your excuses; I expect you to. I expect nothing different. Thanks for the comment.
@clubpenguinsux1 BULLSHIT!! He and Yoko both knew what they were doing when they wrote this tripe and who the FUCK is Lennon to go there anyway?!! What the fuck does he know about discrimination not all sexism is created equal and this song is a joke. Two whiny stupid hipsters asshole appropriating a vile, shitty term for their fake ass propoganda FUCK them both!!
@JIMBOxJAMBOxDUCKFACE don't worry you still have your possum and squirrel and raccoon to eat and your sister will still fuck you later on tonight woo-woo!
John would be sad to see that things haven't changed much. Warfare rape in Africa, women treated like possessiong in the middle east where they aren't allowed outside. Here, prostitution on the rise - and not because women want to, because they've run out of options. John, we miss you, man.
My god what an embarrassing song. This song completely captures the idiocy Yoko One led Lennon to. It is a completely stupid song that went nowhere, did nothing, and meant nothing, just like everything else Lennon and Ono did together.
Really, this song is like an SCTV satire at the height of that magnificent show. Lennon never had any idea how clownish and trite this incredibly song was. Bad.
@0000song0000 You dont get it do you? The song uses a racial slur against black people which in turn marginalizes black women who have also been oppressed and underrated by society for centuries. It centers the experience of white women and treats this experience as universal under the assumption that women of all races experience sexism exactly the same. This ignores the intersectionality of people's experiences. Think again.
" @0000song0000 You dont get it do you? The song uses a racial slur against black people which in turn marginalizes black women who have also been oppressed and underrated by society for centuries. @0000song0000 what a load of CRAP!! they were both full of it and so are you please neither John nor Yoko[the model minority]were revolutionary to the point where it didn't get past their little Soho, hipster, pseudo liberal corner of the world. so trying to speak out against sexism by insulting blacks gets NO defense from me
@MultiLPG Too much of a BLACK CENTRIC crowd here. THINK ABOUT IT! Different eras have had hard times. It is way too easy to call every damn thing you hear racist. Well guess what, if that is the first thing you think about, you are the racist. If the man were black singing it, there'd be none of this talk. It is a simple song with a simple point. Stop adding context to things that are not being said and listen for a change.
@SPUD1880 He isn't being racist. No place in this song is he saying anything bad about any people of any kind. He is drawing parallels between the inequality shown to people of color and to women of all colors.
@leavesof3 Ron Dellums, a Senator from CA (I believe), AND A BLACK MAN, wrote a full-page letter in the New York Times supporting this song, and the concept behind it. It has to do with having all your decisions made for you by someone else, not being in control of your own destiny, and being a second- (or third-) class citizen in the USA. THAT is what "nigger" means in this song.
@bckm54 Big fucking whoop that doesn't change a damn thing!! both of them are stupid, thoughtless, insensitive assholes trying to draw paralells where ther AREN'T any and what having two or three black friends makes this spoiled, hipster, rich, privileged asshole an expert! this song is wrong on EVERY level they were just too full of themselves to see it.
@leavesof3 then he should have found a better way to express it so he's supposedly speaking out for BLACK women too?!! many times whose race supcedes gender but old John boy didn't seem to consider that.
John Lennon is the one man who can say, let alone sing the word "Nigger" to thousand, even millions of people, and not discriminate tward anyone but instead teach all of those who listen to his words of beauty and take them to heart as a message of equality. John Lennon, I hope you know the world loves you and will always learn from what you have accomplished in your life. Rest forever in peace.
@Tinkelsmcgee oh no he can't!- he's another whiny, arrogant, clueless, stupid psuedo liberal spouting dumbass rhetoric if he had a problem with sexism[like when he was beating the shit out of his first wife]then he should have put it another way. were ALL women lynched while being called 'niggers'?!!- don't think so.
John was right, listen to the WORDS and get the message, anyone who gets treated like crap their whole life are niggers. It ain't right but it's true.
The fuck! Women don't need respect. The hell with respect. We need power, and it's not going to come until women get some fucking brains, and realize that there's more to life than clothes. It doesn't hurt me a bit to say, that most men have more sense then women.
@plaidcarogemm it takes lots of time but it can happen. people must realize their place first. they need to make themselves instead of blindly following what they think is cool and fun. and by they i mean everyone..some girls in general are just easier to warp and brainwash than guys. guys tend to be more independent. but we are all susceptible, and in many ways gullible, to deception.
The REAL question is: who is the worst keyboard player of all time? Linda McCartney, or Yoko Ono? No one else even comes close. As backing vocalists, they're tied.
@igloogenius ..Because the word nigger by itself isn't offensive.....the context and the historical context ranging from slavery to reconstruction to the post civil rights movement make the word offensive...jackass!!!
@igloogenius What if whites ere enslaved..taken from their lands and families in the 15th century.... and taken to another land..where they couldn't pratcie voodoo or islam..because the master believes in christianity...and will shoot the slave (if not practicing christianity ), forced to learn english, and be lost about their ancestory for another 400 years (even with a black prez). Would Cracker be an offensive term...yes. Not the word itself...but the context....young man...think!!
@igloogenius Yes...if he's comparing women to niggers because their slaves....and making derogratory statements about blacks.....then it's racist. On top of it he's using nigger. If the song wasn't racist...he wouldn't never made slave references and said nigger..he would've said women are the slaves of the world. Who's stupid now? It ain't me motherfucker...It's you!!! Namaste!!!
THIS SONG IS NOT RACIST!!!!!! IF YOU THINK THIS IS RACIST THEN YOU ARE A RACIST FUCKING IDIOT...... NIGGER IS ANOTHER WORD FOR IGNORANCE YOU FUCKING RETARDS.....
@BigdogH201 No it isn't. He is decrying the treatment of black people by using a word that is intended to disparage them to describe the disrespect and servitude impressed on women in our culture. He isn't saying how great it is to misuse and devalue people who are called "niggers". He is saying that if you are very rightly upset about racism, then sexism should boil your blood too.
@leavesof3 John loved Yoko. Example: When John was cheating on Yoko, Yoko knew John so well that she told him to take a few month break from each other to have some space. And it helped. Most women would of filed for divorce. Had John not been murdered, they would of still been happily married and living in New York. And John would have Twitter.
In the context of the time nigger was not just a perjorative term but an offensive word used to describe someone used by society. Nowadays we see nigger as a slang against people with dark skin color.
@sofestafont back then is was slang against people of dark skin too, it was only the 70's dude. John Lennon caught all kinds of shit for making this song, but he's right. We need to show the ladies more respect.
John Lennon just like Leonardo Da Vinci was way ahead of our times, everything that he said in his songs was so true. I'm glad that he lived and expressed his feelings through music. I'm glad that im listening to them.
woman is STILL the slave to the slaves...hide her face, hide her body beneath yer religious rules and regulations, demean her spirit, lop of her head or stone her to death...advertise her tits and ass on TV and billboards, then tell her to shut up if she protests the wage she gets. WOMAN POWER!!!
@Phyllislechat totally agreed. That's sad, that it still happens. Women deserve better. Just because we're smaller, and our brains are smaller, doesn't mean we aren't as smart as men. I think people need to realize that. Women have all the capabilities that men have. Those who are sexist, I don't know WHAT to say, besides damn you. Because it's a shame, after all these years. White men have been in control of us too long! They need to let us rise, because this is just sad.
@plaidcarogemm Men and women are different and have different capabilities. The Israeli Kibbutz experiments proved that. But should men and women be equal under the law? Yes, of course. But to see no difference in the physical, mental and emotional capabilities between men and women is just naive.
@BloodofPatriots It's true that we are different. i don't remember saying anything abous us not being different. Men make better mathmaticians, generally, because GENERALLY they are better at math. Women would make better teachers, because they can understand the younger way of learning better. I know we're different, but we're equal, and as smart as each other, even if we're different. I hope that's what you mean to say.
If you define 'nigger' as someone whose lifestyle is defined by others, whose opportunities are defined by others, whose role in society is defined by others, the good news is that you don't have to be black to be a nigger in this society. Most of the people in America are niggers.
Anyway.. this song is so true.. even for my generation, and girls do it too.. they believe they have to be little opinionless sluts... I just.. we need a change.
Why do people give Yoko such a hard time ? she was his love and inspiration and a very smart lady to boot. she had more say than phil spector in producing his solo stuff. The Beatles were all done anyway, besides, I would walk away from anyone who disrespected or disapproved of my woman, John was no different .
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
So is Lennon saying that women have it made? They have their way in life paid by taxpayers....they have an excuse for everything....they fuck around....they are lazy....they are unmotivated?
He did all those nasty things to his first wife Cynthia ?? he wasn't saying sorry to her?? ?? I have respect for his life BUT ? many people get bad about him seeming a hypocrite ..??... was he going to make a mends over time.. if my Liverpool friends are proof of how things grow over time.. I believe he would've and was nearer to getting things mature and right with Cynth and Julian.. you gotta want that for all of them ALL of Them! Good lyrics to learn from! Good Bliss!
my singing teacher told me its wrong to chew gum wile you're singing....
and also said that its wrong to drink alcohol or take drugs : )
those guys...different from us, they do everything wrong and have a nice voice. I have to admit that johns voice isn't very good in this show!! maybe his chewing LSD
hahahahaahah, i cant believe he said the "n" word heheheh. I suppose the message is clear and therefore not racist but still ya know? i think. yeah, im prity sure its all good.
Lennon is a racist.

@0000song0000 what a load of CRAP!! they were both full of it and so are you please neither John nor Yoko[the model minority]were revolutionary to the point where it didn't get past their little Soho, hipster, pseudo liberal corner of the world. so trying to speak out against sexism by insulting blacks gets NO defense from me

well, actually, they banned it because it's the truth.

@SPUD1880 Wow. I'm impressed on how stupid people can be. You really can't understand a simple song? Just... wow.
MultiLPG 7 months ago
@MultiLPG Too much of a BLACK CENTRIC crowd here. THINK ABOUT IT! Different eras have had hard times. It is way too easy to call every damn thing you hear racist. Well guess what, if that is the first thing you think about, you are the racist. If the man were black singing it, there'd be none of this talk. It is a simple song with a simple point. Stop adding context to things that are not being said and listen for a change.
tijodaslim 7 months ago
@SPUD1880 He isn't being racist. No place in this song is he saying anything bad about any people of any kind. He is drawing parallels between the inequality shown to people of color and to women of all colors.
leavesof3 7 months ago
@leavesof3 Ron Dellums, a Senator from CA (I believe), AND A BLACK MAN, wrote a full-page letter in the New York Times supporting this song, and the concept behind it. It has to do with having all your decisions made for you by someone else, not being in control of your own destiny, and being a second- (or third-) class citizen in the USA. THAT is what "nigger" means in this song.
bckm54 6 months ago
@bckm54 Big fucking whoop that doesn't change a damn thing!! both of them are stupid, thoughtless, insensitive assholes trying to draw paralells where ther AREN'T any and what having two or three black friends makes this spoiled, hipster, rich, privileged asshole an expert! this song is wrong on EVERY level they were just too full of themselves to see it.
homelesshannah50 1 month ago
@leavesof3 then he should have found a better way to express it so he's supposedly speaking out for BLACK women too?!! many times whose race supcedes gender but old John boy didn't seem to consider that.

John Lennon is the one man who can say, let alone sing the word "Nigger" to thousand, even millions of people, and not discriminate tward anyone but instead teach all of those who listen to his words of beauty and take them to heart as a message of equality. John Lennon, I hope you know the world loves you and will always learn from what you have accomplished in your life. Rest forever in peace.

The fuck! Women don't need respect. The hell with respect. We need power, and it's not going to come until women get some fucking brains, and realize that there's more to life than clothes. It doesn't hurt me a bit to say, that most men have more sense then women.
plaidcarogemm 8 months ago
@plaidcarogemm it takes lots of time but it can happen. people must realize their place first. they need to make themselves instead of blindly following what they think is cool and fun. and by they i mean everyone..some girls in general are just easier to warp and brainwash than guys. guys tend to be more independent. but we are all susceptible, and in many ways gullible, to deception.

@igloogenius ..Because the word nigger by itself isn't offensive.....the context and the historical context ranging from slavery to reconstruction to the post civil rights movement make the word offensive...jackass!!!
BigdogH201 9 months ago
@igloogenius What if whites ere enslaved..taken from their lands and families in the 15th century.... and taken to another land..where they couldn't pratcie voodoo or islam..because the master believes in christianity...and will shoot the slave (if not practicing christianity ), forced to learn english, and be lost about their ancestory for another 400 years (even with a black prez). Would Cracker be an offensive term...yes. Not the word itself...but the context....young man...think!!
BigdogH201 9 months ago 2
@igloogenius Yes...if he's comparing women to niggers because their slaves....and making derogratory statements about blacks.....then it's racist. On top of it he's using nigger. If the song wasn't racist...he wouldn't never made slave references and said nigger..he would've said women are the slaves of the world. Who's stupid now? It ain't me motherfucker...It's you!!! Namaste!!!

BigdogH201 9 months ago

And John would have Twitter.

woman is STILL the slave to the slaves...hide her face, hide her body beneath yer religious rules and regulations, demean her spirit, lop of her head or stone her to death...advertise her tits and ass on TV and billboards, then tell her to shut up if she protests the wage she gets. WOMAN POWER!!!
Phyllislechat 1 year ago 24
@Phyllislechat totally agreed. That's sad, that it still happens. Women deserve better. Just because we're smaller, and our brains are smaller, doesn't mean we aren't as smart as men. I think people need to realize that. Women have all the capabilities that men have. Those who are sexist, I don't know WHAT to say, besides damn you. Because it's a shame, after all these years. White men have been in control of us too long! They need to let us rise, because this is just sad.
plaidcarogemm 8 months ago
@plaidcarogemm Men and women are different and have different capabilities. The Israeli Kibbutz experiments proved that. But should men and women be equal under the law? Yes, of course. But to see no difference in the physical, mental and emotional capabilities between men and women is just naive.
BloodofPatriots 8 months ago
