I and most of the intelligent Turks know that so many Armenians were killed and died during the deportations by Ottomans during WWI and noone with normal mind would support it. My grandfather in malatya told me that they hid 2 armenian families in their big house and saved from deportation. people never wish to harm their neighbours. our difference is how we define "genocide". "Genocide" comes from the Greek word "genos"; meaning a born identity. "Genocide" is the systematic removal and extermination of a "genos". THAT is what happened in the ottoman "empire". It was a tactic to avoid an independant Armenia, with Russian support. Little by little, the ottoman's were losing lands to the native people's who fought to get them out of their homelands. What ended up happening, was the removal of civilans, not a war with an army. THAT is what's different.

Turkey is not begging for EU. in fact EU asked Turkey to join full membership in 1970's and Turkish goverment rejected that time. Now, 70% of Turkish people oppose EU. Germany and France doesn't want Turkey with large population take so many seats and ally with England and Spain. because Germany and France will lose their control over EU. it is all politics.

Actually, the U.S. government FULLY recognizes any human rights violations against the Native American people; and give special privleges to them. Germany fully recognizes the holocaust; yet ONLY turkey expects to be treated with "exception"; even after a 400 year history of occupation of Armenia, which led to genocide.
