  • Hey Great sound!

What´s the name of the song you play on 2:50?

    Greets from austria

  • @hatta1991 : "Take it with a grin" - it's one of my songs

  • Hi..

    Love your sound!

have a Les Paul Classic Looking for a new amp wanted to know if you have if you have an Orange tiny terror and if so what do you think is a nicer sounding all round amp out of the class 5, Vox tv and the Orange tiny terror....

Thanks and once again Great sound and Keep making those Wonderful vids :o)

  • @msay2006 : thank you! but I won't tell which amp is "nicer sounding" because I think it's a very personal thing, it's all about personal taste

  • How do you get in that clean! Even when i use my guitars volume there is always some grit and distortion in there its never that clean when its at 10

  • an am FREE!!!

  • There should be a law where no one can post a guitar vid whilst playing the same tired licks (anything related to AC/DC, van halen, bb mack, led zepplin, ect). There are litterally thousands of playing styles. Play something else to demonstrate the versatility of a quality amp for christ's sake.

  • @MrAlarconJ

Keep cool bro. What`s your prob?..Do you have anything against those bands you just mentioned..? - Perhaps you could sugest what other playing styles he could get out of a crancked marshall..? ..Maybe Frank sinatra...or..perhaps some Beach boys stuff..

You`re on a wrong league here dude..should check other videos on youtube...there`s plenty of them out there, and let this guy do his own thing.

    No hard feelings. PEACE! :-)

  • @19bluesguitar72 You're probably right. I was out of line. Sorry.

  • hey! I have just bought this amp! great sound!

What are the settings on your guitar?

  • Quelle est la chanson à 2:17, svp ?

  • @comporockomatic hell's bells - ACDC

  • Sweet playing man! Thinking of trading my Blackstar HT5-S for one of these puppies and buying myself an LP studio.

  • thanks for the comment on my vid. beautiful r7 and kickass playing man.

  • 0:14-0:46 Free fallin

  • sick playing man i was gunna choose between this and pro junior for my les paul junior do you think i could get the same sound as a jcm 800 with it and i have heard they have had buzzing issues if you could help me ot man that fould be great thanks

  • @pchopjones : no buzzing on the V2 and V3 series: the tone is more in the JTM45/Plexi ballpark than JCM800

  • just listened again ,fantastic playing first off.this amp sounds superb.I had been thinking of this amp but the reviews elsewhere were rubbish.this is good.I have a lp and like to control by guitar volume to clean up thank you for posting

  • Love to hear demos with the same guitar I have... really gives me a true sense of the amp for my use. Thanks.

  • nice goldtop!

  • great review, there is a another review online from a large English music shop, which is totally rubbish you captured the sound perfectly thank you.

    great playing aswell

  • Is this amp loud enough for a regular gig? Thanks!

  • @goldeneagle701 : even loud, it's a 5 (FIVE) watts amp - no 5W amp is enough for a regular gig

  • @realdocloco : Marshall states the Class 5 is enough for gigs, well probably if mic-ed. I'm planning to try the head version of the Class 5, and use it with a 2x12 cab. That would be louder I suppose :) It sounds great anyway in your video. I'll have to try it myself...

  • @goldeneagle701 : even if micked (I did try BTW), you'll still need monitoring speakers to hear yourself when surrounded by the drummer and others musicians; of course a 2x12 or 4x12 gives a bit more volume, but still not enough for gigging unmicked/unmonitored, believe me. Or with a drummer playing with brushes and a non-amplified singer ;-)

  • @realdocloco I don't know what gigs you've been playing dude but this has been more than loud enough for all the gigs I've played with it. It doesn't do clean but cranked it still kicks some serious arse.

  • Nice sound & playing!

what brand of hat are you wearing?

  • Very nice! what song do you start playing around 3:19?

  • @ACletthereberockDC : Mama said (Lenyy Kravitz/Slash) - rather badly played btw ;-)

  • @realdocloco always on the run ;)

  • @realdocloco C'est pas plutôt "Always on the run" ?

  • @KillJoY83500 : oui, tout à fait, j'étais distrait

  • @ACletthereberockDC

    always on the run

  • Your sound is very good!!!

  • cool little dance you got goin on!!! :-)

  • I bet this amp will sound good with my DC junior!

  • classic yet modern sound.. eternal

  • Cool demo! How are you pickin' "Just Got Paid?"

  • if u miced it do you think u could gig with this thing?

  • Nice video, was really helpfull in my choice. I´m also a proud owner of a class 5. Got any sugestions of overdrive pedals for a more dirty sound you perhaps have tried with it?

  • @gustavoperezzzz An Ibanez Tube Screamer always works.

  • Haha nice sound AND hat ;)

  • great sound!! i also love ur little collection in the back hahaha!!!! vox and marshalls my kinda man

  • that sounds awesome man. i need to get one for my Les Paul. thanks for demoing it!

  • I hear some Rory in there.. =P

  • Salut! T'as une idée. Sinon tu joues bien

Merci beaucoup!

  • Nice demo - any issues with the infamous Class 5 rattle?

  • @DSilvergun : yes, on this one I had to replace the microphonic stock EL84 and gone the rattle.

  • Marshall Class 5 has that Rock'n'Roll sound for sure! Nice little amps...

  • do you think you could play with a drummer with this amp.

  • Thank you for recording this on 10 the whole time. Too many posts with it on 2 for half the clip.

  • Great Demo, I want to buy one of those combos now,

  • any pedals used?

  • @ergummer : guitar to the amp, straight - no effects (except the guitar's volume pot)

  • Cute hat.

  • Is that a Traditional Goldtop? If so, how much does it weigh? I'm really interested in buying this guitar, but I might go for a VOS goldtop if the Traditional is chambered... 'Cause I heard it is... And I like my Les Pauls real heavy weighing. Thx in advance kick-ass gear you got.

  • @xTristan1994 : It's a VOS.

  • @realdocloco Yeah sorry I saw the tag later... Is the VOS chambered?... :)

  • @xTristan1994 : not this one at least

  • great demo! thank you

  • HELL YEAH AC/DC BABY!!!!!!

  • sounds just great,cool vid

i have the marshall haze, its a very good amp too, perfekt for playing ac/dc and hard rock songs

  • @GuitarNek If you play blues, the Fender Blues junior is great, and quite cheap for a tube amp. I hear Jet City amps are alright too. I've heard good things about Egnator, the Marshall Class 5 of course, and the Fender Pro Junior looks like a nice, simple, low wattage tube amp. The Fender champ is pretty cool too. Not too expensive new or vintage, I'm pretty sure. I think you can pick a decades old one up for a few hundred on eBay.

  • @GuitarNek Tube amps are much louder than solid state amps like the MG. Wattage is just the power going to the speakers. The output. But an example is that my 40 watt all-tube Fender Hot Rod Deluxe is as loud as a 100 watt MG series Marshall. If not louder. Transistors are a different (and older) technology than tubes, so basically what I'm trying to say is that a 30 watt tube amp will be so much louder than your 30 watt solid state amp.

  • can you get a good sound from the headphone out? most of my attempts at using headphones with tube amps have been under-whelming...im thinking i'll use my tranparent OD pedal for dirt, and im sure a decent reverb is a must...any thoughts?

  • @solerso68

Unless it's got some really good speaker emulation, a headphone is never going to replace a speaker. realdocloco has a vid called "Marshall Class 5 for low volume practice" in which he demoes the Class 5 through a cab using the headphone output as a low volume speaker output. Check the comments for explanation.

  • @jb1563700 yeah i was considering that also. i checked out the headphone feature on one of these yesterday. its not as bad as i feared it would be. it is the WHOLE amp, OP tranny included your hearing, not just the preamp which is what i feared. the prob of headphones is smillar to the prob of isolation closets, the natural air thats lost cant really be replicated. although a decent reverb effect help.

  • @solerso68 Headphones don't move air like a speaker does. What you hear in music is the air moving. You can't capture all those frequencies with headphones. They're so close to your ear, less air moves.

  • @GuitarNek I play a Reason Bambino on the 2-watt setting through a 212 cab, and it is crazy loud for the house. I very rarely use the 8-watt setting.

  • Nice job!!!!

  • @GuitarNek

class 5 is a real tube amp. as far as i know the MG is no tube amp.

may have either preamp or power amp consisting of tubes, or nothing at all.

i had a valvestate 65watt with real preamp tube, but slid state power amp. and it was not louder than my vox nighttrain 15 watt..

  • @GeekG The MG is all solid state. The valvestate line, which would be the AVT and the VS (not sure they make these anymore at Marshall. I used to have a 100 watt VS100, had a single 12AX7 preamp tube. Horrible tone..). The power amp is what determines the loudness. Tube power amps have more output and it gives the sound a volume boost. The preamp generally boosts the guitars input signal and contains the EQ, like bass, mid, treble.. I'm pretty sure anyway, I could be wrong about a few things.

  • I recognized Hells Bells but is any of the other stuff originals?

  • @kzohf : there's some originals of mine, between 0:49 and 1:51, and from 2:53 to 3:20

  • @kzohf he also plays just got payed by zztop

  • @GuitarNek : louder indeed. "watts" doesn't mean a lot, efficiency and sensitivity are the keys. The class 5 is VERY efficient and its speaker has high sensitivity (for a 10" speaker).

  • @GuitarNek : too loud for home use most of the time (except if your neighbourhood is deaf or missing). Check one in your nearest shop, turn it up to 5 and you'll know.

  • Great video! I love the tonez!

Just a quick question to ask really! Would a Class 5 be suitable for bedroom use with a decent OD such as a Rothwell Hellbender or Rockbox Boiling Point?

To get a great classic hard rock sound? I'd use it for gigs and practices but just wondering how that set up would cope for bedroom use.

    Thanks!

  • I have a Marshall Class 5 in my bedroom. Still too loud, but sounds freaking good.

Yesterday the volume was a 6, and one of the neighbours, who live in the other side of the street, complained about it xD

  • righteous man

  • THANKS for the fantastic demo. what type of tubes are you using in that awesome little amp?

  • @solerso68 : the stock 12AX7 and a replacement JJ EL84 (the stock one was a JJ too, but a bit microphonic)

  • I love Mine!!!!

  • What is the song at 3:20 ?

  • how do y'all get on with no reverb?

  • So do you have to crank the amp to get distortion?

  • how loud wa the amp to get this tone?

  • is it loud enough to play live ? (with a cab of course)

    great playin ;)

  • Is this loud enough for a gig with a 1x12 extension cab underneath it ?

  • what were you playing around 00:52

  • @djdavidtee : part of a song of mine

  • @realdocloco for me it sounds like "always on the run" by Lenny Kravitz. maybe your writing were inspired by him?! ;) but nevertheless you're a very good guitarist!

  • @gitAleXD : at 03:20, it's "Always on the run" of course - never said it was mine (maybe you're thinking about djdavidtee's post about the 00:52 part of the demo?)

  • @realdocloco Oh...sorry!!! I was wrong! I saw mtkoala's question about your riff at 3:20 and the next comment was your answer about djdavidtee's post. SORRY! My fault! but...keep on rockin ;)

  • Sounds sweet.. I think you just sold me one... Thanks

  • wow for playing at home small watt amps sound best.. blues too.. really suits the ears of an acoustic player too..

  • nice tones

  • You are so rad.

  • Did your(Class 5) have a rattle? If so, how did you fix it?

  • Hey man, awesome tone, awesome playing. Very inspiring!

  • dude you sound so much better than most of those "professional" reviewers here on yt

    thanks for the demo

  • i heard someone say that is a hybrid amp, it this true?

  • 100% pure valve, don't you think about the Blackstar HT5 instead?

  • i heard in a comment earlier and i was really surprised because i had never heard it befire and t certainly didn't sound hybrid

  • @realdocloco do u think the blackstar ht-5 would be better then this for a bedroom kinda set up?

  • @michaelgroenewald7 : yes for sure, forget about the Class 5 for bedroom use.

  • @realdocloco what do you mean, is the class-5 crappy for bedroom use?

  • @alapunk13 : not crappy at all - but unusable (TOOOOO LLLLOOOOUUUUDDDDD !!!!)

  • @realdocloco ohwww umm, I was thinking of getting a decent tube amp for bedroom use, any amps that you might recommend? I will be using distortion pedals and whatnot with it though... I was thinking bout getting the blues junior but I don't really know what to look for in choosing tube amps

  • @alapunk13 get a vox ac4 tv its a fantastic little tube amp chek em out on youtube i have one bout a yer now nd its great. theres no gain knob so you have to have cranked to get it to distort. or buy a distortion ped so you can play at low volumes without anoying the neighbours i have a cool cat distortion and a coolcat drive you will get a fantastic tone for rock or blues my friend and the amp is under 200 quid kachiiiiing coolcat pedles are very afordable and are fantastic too

  • If that is true, then Marshall is deliberately lying in their ad:

"The all-tube signal path offers a wealth of untainted analog tones at your fingertips"

It sure doesn't sound hybrid to me.

  • is the intro before the vid the class 5?

  • Yes, and you can hear it later in the video - but for the intro I treated it with a bit of phasing

  • @realdocloco ok, cool, and would this be good for a guns n roses kind of a tone? and if not would it still sound good with distortion pedal?

  • If it was cranked, even better if you were using a Les Paul, especially with Alnico II Pro pickups, but it's not too loud, which is great for playing at home. :)

  • @FanHalen5150 ok thanks :)

  • Great tone and playing!

  • whats the song at 1:58?

  • Just got paid - ZZTop

  • Share your recording set up please????

  • SM57 for close-miking, Tbone RB500 for room ambiance, both mixed and recorded into a Boss BR1600.

  • Comment removed

  • Great demo thanks man.

  • nice guitar man i wish i could have one like that. good playing to

  • idk...this is a Marshall tone. its def...muddy sounding at low volumes. Turn it up and its the best overdrive ive heard. For cleans and clear note sustain...Vox AC4 or Fender Champion 600 is better.

  • So how loud is it?

  • Loud enough for a small pub gig as long as you don't need clean tones I'd say.

  • Comment removed

  • dude, thats awsome ur a great player awsome tone

  • Hell Yea!!!! Awesome!!!! ACDC kicks ASS!!

  • Fantastic playing, great guitar and great amp tone.

Can you get it to break up at lower volumes?

Do you crank up the amp and lower volume on guitar or will it only break up when both are turned up?

  • Beautiful!!!

  • Brilliant.

  • Wow, great tone and playing!! Thanks for the demo!

  • hay man, one more question, dose this have a rattling problem?

  • Mine had a microphonic EL84 - no problem after the tube swap.

  • @realdocloco what brand tubes were in the Class 5

  • hey man, dose tis amp work well with pedals?

  • Especially well with overdrives/boosters/distortions

  • how do you use your volume knob for clean tones? i have a line 6 spider and an epiphone les paul but it won't clean up :(

  • probably because its a solid state amp not a tube amp.

  • @andr3wbr1an

Digital overdrive doesn't clean up when you roll back the volume.

The gain on tube amps will respond to things like your volume or even how hard you hit the strings.

  • Lol. Just lol.

  • sounds like an AX84 high octane. Sounds good

  • hello, i was wondering how exactly did you fix the rattling?

    thanks

  • I swapped the stock microphonic EL84 for a brand new JJ EL84.

  • Nice demo I have one ordered!

  • You are so right . Use the darn guitar vol knob. It's there for a reason.

  • I have a Strat with 69 spec wiring. If I roll down the volume more than 2 notches the treble is gone ! it works both as volume and tone control. This wouldn't work =(

  • put a capacitor across the volume leads, and your highs won't go away.

  • @mmmolchan Thanks for the info. What value and cap type do you think would work l well ? Thanks !

  • @mmmolchan Thanks for the info. What value and cap type do you think would work l well ? Thanks !

  • @fabianromano i use Axegrinderz music emporium on ebay to get treble bleed kits. cheap and fast! he has many many diff kits. ask him a ? to find out whats best.

  • You remind me of Jack white lol

  • well thanks, ill definatly have to go try one out now. ill let you know how it goes

  • do you think it can get a good green day tone? thats mostly what i play, so thats a big thing for me. i get really frustrated when i cant get the right sound :P

  • I'd say this is more bluesy buddy. i have one of these babies and it just forces me to break in to either blues or country. But i suppose you could if you throw in some OD pedals

  • sounds sweet, ill have to look into one. is the overdrive good for a bedroom, thats what im looking for. i want a tube amp that can get a good breakup at a low enough volume to not drive my parents insane lol

  • @coopdawg68 something tells me this amp would sound great run through a boss bd-2 pedal, the blues driver one, i might get one of those to go with it

  • I've been reading about a rattle with these. Have you noticed one?

  • Yes, had a rattle coming from the EL84 locking system - easy fix.

  • thats where im getting mine too. i love how it sounds clean, but i had alot of trouble getting it to break up without pushing the volume really hard. thats why im thinking pedals. hopefully i can play around with it more once ive got it. i didnt notice any rattling like ive been hearing alot of people say. everyone says you can only hear it at low volume when its clean, but i didnt hear it at all. its probly one of the best sounding cleans ive heard.

  • would you say this amp is too loud for a bedroom? im thinking of buying it but i dont have any expirience with tube amps. i tried one out in a store and it was super loud, much louder than i expected a 5w to be. maybe an overdrive pedal would help? what do you think?

  • what's that riff at 3:24?

  • "always on the run", slash and lenny kravitz

  • Best demo of the Class 5, so far...Great playing, makes me wanna go and buy one of these amps.

  • definitely the best i've heard it sound so far. thanks

  • whats guitar volume?

  • LOL

  • That was great!

  • Great demo.Thanks!

  • Bonjour Doc,
