Where do you get the idea of brain dead kids. They are more confident, creative, lively, happy and bright. They get better grades because their brains are working better. Have you ever got a kid to make a mood about wanting anything to work. If it doesn't work they let you know. I teach at the Maharishi School in Skelmersdale, England, and it's heartwarming to see the difference in a child coming from outside.
Remember, everything has a tradeoff. The tradeoff to a "quiet school" is a bunch of brain dead kids whose teachers think the kids are learning, but in actuality are passing out better grades, as a kind of "self selection bias."
