@maryam0psy well, I don't know what to tell you. Almost every note of her scale was out of tune and her open strings aren't in tune either. She added a C#, which isn't even part of the scale. I'm not intending to be cruel or overly critical, I'm just being honest. It wouldn't bother me if she wasn't trying to pass herself off as a teacher. It's the fact that this was posted as an instructional video that irritates me. Beginners shouldn't be posing as teachers.

your vibrato is horrible. and when you play scales you normally should not do vibrato, unless your practicing your vibrato, because you want to make sure youre playing a pure note that is perfectly in tune. and she played a C#. and all of it was very off.
This is a new online course for violin! I hope this helps someone. :) G Scale videos in this course are actually played correctly. I really do feel bad for her, though. I took 8 years of classical violin lessons. Violin is hard enough to learn with a teacher standing by your side. this woman has a great personality for being a teacher, but she does not have the violin chops to teach violin. Her intonation is a little sharp, notice how every time she plays an open string it's really jolting how flat it sounds (granted this is a little better when she plays the scale un-interrupted); she tries to do vibrato on the notes but it's really really tights and doesn't help the sound at all, then she doesn't play the right notes in the descent of the highest octave. Is this a joke?

As a professional musician, and teacher of violin & viola, I am personally offended by this video. I have beginners who can play better than this woman! Her intonation, "vibrato", bow hold, sound, posture, all HIDEOUS! If she were my student, I would tell her to quit violin and learn to play something else...like bridge. Not 'traditional' teachers, Dr. Tarot - QUALIFIED teachers. This is one of the easiest and most basic scales on the violin, and she plays it out of tune and with wrong notes (C# on the way down?! Seriously??) Is this acceptable for an 'instructional video?' I think not.
What are links to GOOD LESSONS? Instead of criticizing this, why not point toward some proper lessons.
I think they are a wonderful supplement to beginner lessons in that it's simple enough to see what she is doing. The criticism is also helpful in that it lets us know that "traditional" teachers do things bit differently.

This person, as well as the public, is not helped by encouragement. The public is my biggest concern, though. NO ONE should attempt to learn from this individual.
She has not taken the time to learn to play properly, nor to teach. That is unfortunate.
Also, the presentation, especially for violin, should be CALM, not frantic and hurried.
She is free to do as she pleases. But, for the sake of the public (and violin instruction), she should take her videos down.

Just a lil tip "expert village", what most people do when they first start playing (as you clearly are under false pretences thinking you are an expert) is put a lil bit of coloured tape under the strings so you can see where to put your fingers, and where all the notes are.
I did it when I started out and its not too late it will improve your technique markedly within a few weeks.

As a professional musician, and teacher of violin & viola, I am personally offended by this video. I have beginners who can play better than this woman! Her intonation, "vibrato", bow hold, sound, posture, all HIDEOUS! If she were my student, I would tell her to quit violin and learn to play something else...like bridge. Maybe by "Beginner Violin Instruction" they mean instruction BY beginners? If you are trying to learn to play the violin, do NOT watch this video!

@dustyrex4895 I completely agree. These "expert village" videos are a joke. Hilarious that this woman is demonstrating a scale and she seems to have missed the most basic reason to play scales in the first place: intonation. Not to mention the way she's not keeping her fingers down, the bowing, the "vibrato"...everything you mentioned basically. I'm glad I'm not the only violinist who's appalled that this severe sounding and untrained person is trying to pass for a teacher.

Not 'traditional' teachers, Dr. Tarot - QUALIFIED teachers. This is one of the easiest and most basic scales on the violin, and she plays it out of tune and with wrong notes (C# on the way down?! Seriously??) Is this acceptable for an 'instructional video?' I think not.

What are links to GOOD LESSONS? Instead of criticizing this, why not point toward some proper lessons.
I think they are a wonderful supplement to beginner lessons in that it's simple enough to see what she is doing. The criticism is also helpful in that it lets us know that "traditional" teachers do things bit differently.

This person, as well as the public, is not helped by encouragement. The public is my biggest concern, though. NO ONE should attempt to learn from this individual.
She has not taken the time to learn to play properly, nor to teach. That is unfortunate.
Also, the presentation, especially for violin, should be CALM, not frantic and hurried.
She is free to do as she pleases. But, for the sake of the public (and violin instruction), she should take her videos down.

look, i'm not going to sit here and tell you you suck at playing...there's enough people doing that already...I'm going to tell you could be better, and that you may still be learning yourself, and not listen to some of idiots down here telling you to shove off and just stop teaching...despite what they think, the don't know everything about the violin, no one does, or can...there's always something new to be learned. I am am going to request, you learn a little more before teaching.

I've watched afew of your videos and heard you say you are an 'advanced player'. You are not even close to being an 'advanced player' and its annoying having people replying to comments saying 'you are good' and 'shes helping me learn' NO SHE IS NOT shes teaching you how to become a very, very bad Violinist. Just a lil tip "expert village", what most people do when they first start playing (as you clearly are under false pretences thinking you are an expert) is put a lil bit of coloured tape under the strings so you can see where to put your fingers, and where all the notes are.
I did it when I started out and its not too late it will improve your technique markedly within a few weeks.

Remake this video...If you're an "advanced violinist" as you said in another video, you should probably know that C# is not part of the G major scale...EVER. It would take 2 seconds to re-tape the video. Do you think we "beginner violinists" won't notice mistakes?! UGh so annoying
