  • The bigger they are the more distance they need! Has to be a hell of a rush for the pilots.

  • He just saw the camera at the end of the runway and decided to give ya a show. ;)

  • I play Flight Simulator, therefore I know all... bow before my magnificence...

  • He simply wanted to make sure that everyone gets good videos and photos ;-)

  • This is actually me playing Microsoft Flight Simulator X :)

  • The flaps are down on take off to direct the thrust of the engines downward. Completely normal.

  • "The flaps are down on takeoff to direct the thrust of the engines downward." !!! Bwahahahahah. Good one. Very funny. (For those of you who are complete novices, sdlcman's statement is so untrue it's quite humorous.)

  • @sdlcman1 Sigh. What "Fake Aviation Facts for Dummies" book did you read?? You're statement is about as true as someone proclaiming the Earth is flat! Education 101 lesson for you: Flaps are used to generate LIFT during takeoff and DRAG during landings. Engine thrust has absolutely NOTHING to do with the purpose of flaps. In fact, there are aircraft which can perform no-flaps takeoffs, such as the A300, 757, and DC-9/MD-80. Ignorance is so 1990s.

  • The flaps are down on take off to direct the thrust of the engines downward. Completely normal.

  • è pazzo ????

  • First off you cant take off with FULL Flaps and he isnt really that heavy, look at the wings when hes climbing out, they are still straight, if he was heavy they would be bent.

  • @PacificTowing this is true... on top of that, he leaped off the runway... usually if you're very heavy, the mains will roll a lot longer before you get airborne.

  • He set the flaps to full so he got more drag and was able to take off //

This isnt a normal procedure / overwight or engine fail could be a reason or a too short runway?!

  • @K0nst4nt1n96 no drag is bad, flaps are full to get more lift! and i dont think they are all out on a 747 they tend to almost touch the ground full but ill watch again

  • @K0nst4nt1n96 You're about as big of an idiot as 'sdlcman1'. How old are you... 12? There is no aircraft on Earth which uses full-flaps during takeoff. This aircraft was using standard 'Flaps 20' which is normal takeoff flaps for a 747. Full flaps would be 'Flaps 30'. 747s typically land using 'Flaps 25'. Go read a book instead of being a faux airline pilot.

  • @Neno8403 I cant stand people who think they know everything about everything!

  • @amac320974 That's interesting. I can't stand pussies and dummies who are allowed free reign to access the internet without supervision or restriction.

  • talk about maximum takeoff weight..id say hes a little overboard lol

  • captain he know what he need to do u guys don't worry and put u r seat belts properly

  • Flights departed from there to the west coast of Canada without refuelling.

  • Apologies to all if it is BournEmouth, but the fact remains that a near-fully loaded 747-200 should be able to take off in 7500'. Manchester airport back in 1979 had a strike by the firemen (and also only 9200' of runway back then) and a whole host of 747-200s diverted to Liverpool with its 7500' runway.

  • @md69cs Sorry for the spelling... f.y.i The 747-200 at Dunsfold, (the one off of top gear and casino royale) Landed safely on its 6100 foot runway. I guess it was empty, but still...

  • @tspcrowther - An empty 747 (and by empty, I mean running on fumes!) could probably stop in around 3000'. It'd never make it out again though :-)

  • Sorry guys but its definetly Bournmouth... Google for a picture of bournmouth airport from end of runway.. Zoom right in and you will see the trees and power lines are in the same place as this video.

  • not really close to the end.

it looks like shooting racing from the that direction - quite false impression of handicapes

  • @ulloi08 - when did you last go to Manchester? The pilot has well gone past the 1000' touchdown markers - he had less than 900 feet to go - that runway is 10,000' long. His angle of climb out is not much higher that the 3 degree glideslope for the inbounds.

  • hear that baby ROARRR!

  • Pilot:"See that guy with the camera behind the runway?... Watch this!"

  • which airport was this?

  • @wicked188353 - Manchester. The pilot had 10,000' of concrete to play with. A fully loaded 747-200 should easily get airborne in that time.

  • @md69cs NOT Manchester.

  • guys drunk as hell

  • Pilot jest hardcorem

  • Nothing wrong with that take-off. He could have calculated a shorter roll, but why hammer the hell out of the aircraft? He or she is committed to rotate the aircraft....it doesn't matter if there is 3 seconds or 10 seconds of runway left. However, hanging out at the end of a runway isn't the brainiest thing to do.

  • @MrMoneyTrouble Agree, lucky the plane made it....BAMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

  • @MrMoneyTrouble Yeah it's not the best thing to do cause if yo are right at the end, and the plane overshoots the runway, you will probably become FOD or roadkill.

  • @jetairways773 what do you know about FOD Mr. Navy >;3

  • @MrMoneyTrouble - so you'd commit a fully loaded 747-200 to rotate with 3 seconds of runway to spare? Remind me never to be a passenger when you're the pilot. With 10,000' of concrete to use, he was very lucky to get airborne.

  • @md69cs ...My comments are based on observations at CYVR Vancouver International Airport. The heavies always use more runway than is comfortable to watch. But I see what attracted your comment. You're right, if the aircraft rotates even with ten seconds remaining you would likely see a horrible crash. My timings refer to rear gear leaving the ground. Sorry for the inconvenience.

    MT

  • @MrMoneyTrouble

this is retarded. you know little about aviation and even less about flying heavy a/c.

take your train set and go play somewhere else, or read something like 'handling the big jets' and then you can make an informed comment

  • @MrMoneyTrouble hey i dont fly a lot and I just had a question...we were flying over the gulf of mexico in a 757 and I noticed that we turned around about halfway over the gulf and then our pilot came on and said that our plane had lost something like oil pressure in one engine and so the plane was flying on one engine...he seemed really calm about it even though he said he declared an emergency...how serious of a situation is that actually? just wondering. Thanks!

  • so cant seem to fInd a Guy who isnt a coward

  • I bet the pilots made it intentionally, just to add some impressions for the spectators on the land :)

    looks awesome!

  • you can see the curveituar of the earth... i didnt think he was going to pull up

  • i thought smaller planes needed more speed and therefore a longer run for lift-off, while big planes like the 747 don't need such a long run because of the size of their wings which make the liftoff easier?!

  • @MmeSusann All modern airliners take off at reduced power to save fuel and engine wear and tear. By aviation law the aircraft would not be allowed to operate from this airfield if it didnt have enough runway length for it to takeoff with passengers.

  • @MmeSusann Duh! the big plane is heavier .. needs more power, more wing, more speed, more runway

  • @snorkellisab all of those eh? I think you better review your aero 101. =]

  • Runway is to short!!

  • 747 are not made for that short runway

  • @nathanfishing3000 - so you think 10,000' isn't enough for a 747? I've seen quite a few 747s at that airport in my time and never seen one that used that much runway to get airborne.

  • love that at 0.24 "jesus christ"

  • umm, I'm no expert and this is my opinion only and not based on any first-hand knowledge. And the back wheels of the plane actually lift off just as they get to the broken white line. But still the plane was climbing and just ambling its way into the sky. And yeah, i hate flying but I love to watch big planes taking off and landing. I just don't like little planes, like pipers and that sort. They are not really majestic. More like irritating kites.

  • Actually if you look at the white strip in the middle of the runway beneath the aircraft, the front wheels of the plane already start lifting off the ground before it gets to the broken white line. Calculating te distance it took to reach the end of the broken white line and the runway, the aircraft seems to be doing all that it should be doing and in no real danger of crashing. The back wheels of the plane are off the ground before they get to the broken white line. And up she goes. All safe

  • Oh what a beautiful aircraft. Maybe because you were on the ground taking the film that it appears to take so long to lift off the ground. I hear people all say the same thing about big jumbos when they take off or when they land, that they just miss this or just miss that or that they take too long to lift off. But maybe it is because they are on the ground and they have never been so close to this beautiful aircraft before or often enough to know that it is probably quite safe .

  • what a great vid nice one mate

  • "Damn kids with their cameras! I'll make this one brown his trousers.." pondered the Captain :-)

  • @DJGahann - the pilot would have seen that from 10,000' away?

  • @md69cs I'll assume you're referring to 10000 feet as ' stands for minutes in metric terminology ;-) If the good cap'n could see those cams from 3.3 km away he'd probably also eat kryptonite for breakfast.

  • too many birds to me!

  • Allahu ekber !!

Lan, da bekommt man ja voll die schiss :D

  • Plane was over weight because the Captain didn't have a good dump before boarding the plane. that extra 1 pound of crap made him use up the whole runway.

  • @verydange lmao

  • @verydange hahahahhahaha ..now thats damnn funny

  • vejam CVE AEROPORTO JUIZ DE FORA no youtybe = projecao digital

  • Achei que ele não iria subir!!

    HEHEHHEH!!

  • OMG

  • WOW ! AWESOME !!

  • im sure someone else other than me would want to see this in 3D!

  • just as you think the engines are at their loudest, they just keep going. Love the sound

  • normall take off

this type uses the whole runway

  • awesome

  • Yea but what if it went off the runway? U would have died and wouldn't have put this video up. So consider u a lucky man. That plane could have gone off the runway. If it had been going probably atleast 5 mph slower it would have killed u

  • @gtaglitches15 Pilot had 1000 feet to spare...not a close call at all

  • Comment removed

  • spettacolare!!!

  • awesome video.

  • My god that is a huge plane

  • and what is in this video critical ??

  • My asshole would've been up around my neck if I was flying that bird on take off.

  • Cool...

  • stylé la video

  • wat a beast

  • critical?

  • Isn't there a little too much of birds in airport?!

  • guy who emptied the chemical toilet tank at 0.34 FTW

  • a boeing 707 (keep in mind this is a 747) uses 4000 gallons of fuel just to take off and climb... and theres enough fuel in there to drive the average car 4 times around the world

seems like kind of a waste doesnt it?

  • Except that a B747 carries over 400 pax, and takes you around the world, do the math before saying its a waste

  • well the book didnt tell me that :)

  • @fenderguy0982 btw if its fully loaded with passengers.. its averages 70mpg per passenger

  • @fenderguy0982 why would you say something as stupid as that?

  • I say it because it's true. I guess its not a total waste but we could use all that fuel for smaller, more efficient planes.

  • that must be so loud and awesome

  • 0:21 "He`s not going to make it" Panik - FAIL

  • Not alowed so close unless in bunker dum ass

  • spectators: JEESUS CHRIST!!!!

    pilot: heh heh heh

    co-pilot: tower, we have.... OWNAGE!

  • xD :-j

  • XD Good one

  • @fuglygurlie LOL XD

  • @fuglygurlie lmfao

  • Hard takeoff. Can they do it with full load

What`s the airport/country? If i will be there anytime leave this place at train.

  • i-a dat blana :))

  • I love this video

  • st maarten aiport izit??..the runway is short..is the same runway for landing n takeoff...

  • Its at Bournmouth in the UK.

  • @tspcrowther - Try Manchester.

  • @md69cs naaaaa definetly Bournmouth.

  • lol st maarten is an island, with a beach at the end of the runway. does this look like that? no

  • Well it still took off before the end so... I would call that a good use of available space.

  • obviously the plane was fully loaded....simple as that.

  • what the hell was in that video...? i did not find any thing

  • That was bad ass! took almost the whole strip. And yes the camera can make things look diffrent but the people recording kinda say how close of a takeoff it was. Perfect!

  • they were fine. You have to remember the perspective of the camera. looking straight at a runway of course it's going to look short. And it's a huge plane so of course it's going to look like it ran out of room but if you see the point of rotation he has plenty of room.

  • calculated!

  • now that's insane...a bit scary...

  • European 747-200 from Bournemouth, Completely normal and a non-event. Plenty enough TORA for this aircraft at its weight.

  • @CloudSurferUK - Pakistan 747-200 at Manchester.

  • @md69cs you need yours eyes tested mate, it is clearly an EAL 747 and it is obviously Hurn. You can tell by the livery on the aircraft (look after the take off) and the fact its taking off from runway 26 (noted by the numbers 08 visible, MAN has 05L & 05R)

  • ack, normal take off... Flaps 20... excellent.

  • i dont get it... nothing happenned!!

  • normal take off, god job!

  • yeah.... you might want to check your spelling next time lol!

  • big shit

  • omg O_o

  • fucking hill!!!

  • süperrrr take off

  • fucking hell!

  • looks like that thing is going slow

  • Need some more flaps in that mofo!

  • any more flap and it wouldnt make it!

mind u it does need some more lift

  • I'm pretty sure he was at Full Flaps in terms of taking off, don't quote me on that just saying

  • He wasn't at full flaps. He was a level or so above.

  • omg are you an airline pilot? are you a pro in aviation? be quite they are proff. pilots im sure they no what they are doing

  • Lolz if the didnt make it someone with the camera didnt either

  • ulan sese bakya kavuruyor.

  • That was a big one

  • I can imagine a conversation in the cockpit, Man, you'll never make it.. I'll show you I can! Go ahead... OK! Wait, your not realy going to are you?! Yep! Are you MAD?! Nah, im a pro OMG.. we're gonna crash! ... OMG.. we're out of runway!! ... Oh My GOD!!!!!!... we're.. we're .. Airborne?! o.O See told you so, I even had 5 inches of runway left !!
  • They still had a shitload left, it would be impossible for a RTO on such a short runway anyway

  • dont worry, for such a short runway and such an heavy airplane the V1 speed is so slow that they would be able to reject before that speed... after that GO, this baby can fly with 3 engines in operation even at full load. that is why airline transportation is the most secure way of traveling. just relax in your passenger seat and enjoy your flight.

  • @Coventelite - It isn't a short runway. It's 10,000' long. Enough 747-200s have used that succesfully without as much drama. BA used to fly to JFK with the same equipment.

  • why not use the available spaye?

  • The Plane has No Winglets And No B747-400 Has No Winglets Only The 300 And 200 Series have No Winglets. Its Just Like Air Force One

  • Comment removed

  • holly cr*ap D=

  • And they said a boeing 747 could not fly and it did

  • thats a Boeing B747-200

  • WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Try a 747-400

  • WRONG the 400 Has winglets

  • every plane can have winglets, but i've seen much boeing 747-400's without winglets... -_-

  • not a 200

  • every plane can have winglets including boeing 747-200! Except some old planes like DC-3's.

  • @AZNFlipy12 - yes it was.

  • @jerrythedutchmapler - no you haven't. Ever.

  • @md69cs Uhm, what do you mean?

  • That happened to me leaving LAX in 1982 and we BARELY made it over the burm at the end of the runway. OH MY GOD moment.

  • talk about leavin it late

  • Can't get rid of the feeling that the pilot was just showing off :P

  • Don't be silly, a professional pilot is not going to play games with an airliner full of people...think about it...

  • @czmeph - suggest brain surgery. Commercial airline pilots do not show off with a fully loaded aircraft.

  • I can just picture the person filming this - "Up - up -up - UP!!! UP!!! Oh shit! Oh thank god!" lol

  • lol i wouldve been like "This is soo cool! damn were so close....uhh whens it supposed to get in the air....uhh..omg...omg please no!.AH THank god..."

  • Talk about using every inch of that runway...

  • hasikktirrrr

  • Jesus Christ is right, man.

  • fantastico!!!!

  • 747-200 or 300... Great plane... where was that take off from?

  • Max Take Off Weight for a 747-300 is not 800'000kg. It is 372.000kg. I know because I have flown one for 8 years.

  • it kinda looks like he wanted to say 800 000 Lbs and came out Kg.

  • Ye man, pilots are phenominal..

    their courage is unmached..

pilots are the gutsiest people alive, guts and sheer confidence
